You installed my heat pump and it has never worked right! Air on all day and 85 in my house. When you came out you did nothing but tell me how much it would cost to fix it so it would cool correctly and or heat correctly. We wanted to proactively replace our 20 year old water heater. It was a 65 gallon model. Apparently, that size is no longer made and we were faced with a choice of going with a 50 gallon or 75 gallon unit. We chose the 75. Of course, it is slightly larger in diameter than the 65, which made fitting it into the space available a bit of a problem. Within a couple days of my husbands unexpected death, I woke up to a blank thermostat and no Ac, I went to the store and purchased a new thermostat and installed it. Still nothing, took the panel off the furnace and it flashed a code for a blown fuse. Called Mikes they could be out in 2 days, awesome! They replaced the fuse and checked a few other things on the AC unit and said it was good to go. Next morning fuse is blown again, the tech said it was my fault for installing the thermostat with the power on. Excuse me, no! Even wrote it on the service call paper. Replaced fuse said it was good to go, approximately 1 week later Blown fuse again, after hours call. No one wonders why it keeps blowing the fuse, this time it was bypassing the fuse and blowing the transformer in the unit, tech blew the transformer in the furnace 3 times, ends up saying it's the mother board. Buy new mother board, another service call, this is the 4th one. 1 week later there is no power to furnace or AC unit, another after hours call. Tech gets into checking more in depth at the wiring, you guessed it bad wire between the furnace and AC unit. It is my wholehearted belief that this wire was the problem from the beginning, none of the techs check all the wiring. So now I am 1 day out from replacing the 1 wire and so far, I Still have working units. So, 5 service calls at least 3 being after hour calls and 2 regular service calls, plus a new mother board and 4 transformers that is a lot for just 1 wire. read more

Mike's Heating and Air responded immediately when our 27 year old central air conditioner finally "kicked the bucket". We ended up ordering a replacement air conditioner and a central gas furnace in which Mike's applied for rebates on our behalf. As soon as the equipment arrived, they scheduled an installation appointment. It turned out to be quite involved since our original air conditioner was installed at the time our house was built. So it took two days. Paul and Jesse did an excellent job tackling the various problems. The new installation looks perfect. We have since tried both the air conditioner and heater out and both worked perfectly. We have used Mike's during previous years for maintenance service and they have always responded immediately and did an excellent job. I contacted this company for a quote to have a gas line ran for our generator. I was told that the vist and quote would be $109. The tech came out and did his thing and left. I never heard from this company again. No quote. No bill of any sort. Fast forward a year and half later and I receive a collections notice for the $109 plus interest. Poor company and I will absolutely use someone else for my HVAC needs in the future. read more

Our heater motor went out, flooded the house with smoke, called AFD - they quickly determined it was due to the heater. Called Mikes the next day, a very good tradesman came right out that morning, had a replacement motor with him and the other necessary parts, and was done within an hour. We had a heating system installed by Mike's hHeating for around $23,000. From the very beginning, the system kept shutting down and needing to be reset. We had them out more than 20 times and each time they said it was fixed. It never was. We paid parts and labor each time. When we sold the house we spent around $ 6K to get assurance that the system worked. In the end they said it was fixed. We got sued and it cost us another $10K because the judge agreed with the other heating company that the system was not working properly. I put up with all of the hassle and money because I liked Mike (retired) and the technicians, but in the end I it was a very bad decision on my part to stay with them. I recently had a valve replaced under warranty. Total time removing and replacement of the valve was around 1/2 an hour I showed the techintion that it was the valve so there was no real troubleshooting time.. It took quite a while to get them to get the bill down from $384 to $248 when I thought it should be free or way less than $248. When I complained the accountant hung up on me. The original bill charged me $136 for parts which they got for free. The accountant told me they only got $136 from the supplier. I was charged $ $140 (really close to the part cost) I was later told that the $248 was standard labor for a valve replacement not parts like the bill said. After all the time, money and hassle they wouldn't even cut me a break and charge me for what time the actually spent. This was the last straw.Work by Mike's Heatng is REALLY NOT GOOD at their job and absuletly no loyalty to customers!!! read more

I bought my HVAC system along with tankless water heater from Mikes about 6 years ago. I thought they did a great job. This winter my heat pump quit working and I knew the parts for the system were under warranty if I again called Mikes. They charged me an additional $40 to the $50 service call because I was outside their area. (They never charged me when I spent $14k to buy the system!) They first told me I needed a new switch which was under warranty. Then they charged me $240 to install the "free"switch. It took the guy 15 minutes to install it and I checked online and I could have bought the switch for $50 and plugged it in myself. While the guy was here the compressor blew up. Again, they put in the "free" part and this time it took them 4 hours and 15 minutes for the job. Their bill, over $1700.00! I checked and I could have had a local company sell me a new compressor, not under warranty and install it for less than this. A very unhappy customer. read more

I Do not recommend this company... original service request February 2017 in regards to possible thermostat replacement. Tech never touched it telling me I just needed to dump my electric furnace and heat pump and convert to gas system, but he wanted to look at unit (Red Flag) I stupidly said he could and was told I had wrong size filter that he didn't have with him but would grab one at the shop and was gone over 45 minutes. He replaced then stood and chit chatted about his past work history and states he lived in for over an hour. I was quite shocked to see the invoice was nearly $300.00 and made out to the deceased previous owner. I called to dispute charges and tell them they were billing a dead person. I explained my complaints and was told James would have to call me back. I tried several times trying to catch James only to be told he "was out". Received third invoice with late fees and called letting admin know I wasn't paying until I spoke with James to discuss incorrect billed hours and a filter I didn't ask for that was $30.00. James was magically there. Assured me Dave no longer worked there and he'd look over my invoice and re-bill me if necessary. No word back and no new invoice so I figured they deleted the invoice. Nope! I get a call from a collection agency saying this is still hanging out there... call Mike's AGAIN to ask what the hell is going on only to be told James will be calling me within an hour.... tapping foot two hours later and surprise.... no call. read more

I came to visit my elderly father and found his heat wasn't working. I called a couple places that couldn't help that day. Somehow by my mistake I got thru to Andrew the technician who was on another job and answered the phone, he was so caring and concerned and helpful, he relieved so much of my anxiety. He actually called me back to make sure I'd gotten an after hour's appointment. He came after hours and patiently and nicely explained what was wrong and fixed it. I can't even come up with words to say how much we appreciated him and recommend this company!!! read more

Well - All was well until the heat needed to come on a few weeks ago. Our heat pump stopped working, so we called Mike's again. Their tech came out (Not James this time) and told us we needed to do a 640.00 repair for the control board. We decided to get a second opinion. Usually when a circuit board goes out, the whole thing does... not just if you tap on it. So we called Country Air on the recommendation of a family member. They quoted us 350.00 for the same repair and came out. That is when we learned that Mike's had tried to screw us over. You see, the control board wasn't bad. What had happened is that when Mike's was out earlier in the year and fixed our heat pump, they overfilled and over-pressurized it. The technician from Country Air removed 2 pounds of refrigerant and adjusted the pressure and our system was up and running. So - when I called Mike's back and told them what had gone wrong, I figured that they'd honor their warranty and work. Not happening! They say they won't do anything more than refund my service fee of 90.00 (haven't received a refund yet) and nothing else - not the 100.00 I paid to fix their error nor the approximately 160.00 they charged me for the unneeded excess refrigerant. So, I'll be leaving a glowing review (like my old Mike's review!) and leaving this lousy one for Mike's. I am still considering filing an official complaint against their CCB number. Need to go get a certified letter sent off. Wish me luck. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! We purchased a new a/c and heat pump system for $5000 last April. The compressor stopped working so we called to have it serviced under the 3 year warranty. It took a week for them to schedule a service tech, he found a loose wire to be the problem. We then received a $120 bill because we did not pay for their service program. According to the rep at Mikes, they would have found the loose wire if we had paid to have them come out to service the unit that should have been covered in their installation warranty. read more

I have Mikes out to cap a half inch valve on my rental. They charged $120 for a service fee. I was okay with this. They charged $15 for a part I can buy for less than a dollar at Home Depot. I was okay with this. They charge $82 for miscellaneous fee they couldn't really explain to me what it was for, and then another $25 non-refundable fee. They did say the $25 was for not paying the bill on the spot. However, this was not something I was aware of and they refuse to reimburse me. They claim the $82 was for caping the valve, and the $120 was for diagnosing the problem. However, I told them what I needed them to do there was no diagnosis needed. The entire job took 10 minutes and they charged $202 in labor. If you can afford to pay them good luck. read more

Don't use this service!!!!! My mother is 84 years old and has been taken advantage of for almost $600 over the last 18 months, for problems that should have been under warranty. She is a low income senior who had the first heat pump put in by the Linn Co. consortium. They used Mike's because they were low bid. The first heat pump they installed was installed improperly and leaking. They charged her to fix that even though it had only been in for 5 months. We had to eventually get a hold of the Lenox field supervisor to get a new heat pump installed because Mike's could not get it fixed although they kept charging her. They even charged her $112 when they came out to clean the blades with water, thinking this might help the problem of it not cooling last summer. The last problem was with the BRAND NEW heat pump that they replaced the leaking one with and it stopped heating. $90 for a service call to diagnose the problem and another $322 for the part. This heat pump had been in 7 months. When we called them, they told us that the warranty was 1 year from when the original heat pump was installed, not the NEW one! What a line of BS. I've have never in my life seen a more crooked business who willingly takes advantage of senior citizens. There is one guy there named Dwayne, Service manager, who is honest and cares. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!! We have yet to get her any of her money back. Next step is to contact the BBB and the Lenox supervisor again. read more

I would steer clear of this company! After years of good maintenance reports from their techs, they came back out this year. After only 2 minutes their tech Brett found cracks in the heat exhauster and shut it off for safety concerns. Apparently the past guys didn't know what they were doing and this is a reflection of the poor quality service provided by Mike's. Luckily we are all safe and healthy thanks to Brett but no thanks to Mike's. I will NOT use them again. If you do, ask for Brett. read more

The last week of January, my furnace gave out after 23 years.  It was cold and I was desperate.  I called Mike's, a well known, highly rated local HVAC company to arrange an urgent service call.  They were able to come in the evening the next day.  $150 to be told my furnace was done (badly corroded heat exchanger).  The service tech took down all the info and took photos and said I would get an estimate for replacement the next day.  I followed up the next morning with an email to their estimator and after not hearing anything all day, with a phone call.  I was told by the lady on the phone, that she would remind the people in charge.  BTW...I was always respectful and polite!  I never heard another word from Mike's HVAC.....ever, to this day! Unbelievably inconsiderate! Note to Mike's...If you don't want the job or cannot do the job, SAY SO! Don't leave people hanging in the middle of winter. read more

Last December I had a terrible noise coming from my heat pump, so I called Mike's who had originally installed the heat pump. Technician came out and discovered a broken fan, they were suppose to order a new one. I got a bill in the mail for the service call and 30 some dollars for material which I paid. I had assumed that they had returned and repaired the unit. This last July, my house was not being cooled by the heat pump, so I called Mike's again and the technician returned only to discover that the broken fan blade was still there, so a new one was ordered again and a week or so later they returned with a new fan and repaired the heat pump. Upon leaving the technician gave a me a bill for a little over 600.00 which I gave him a check for that amount. A few weeks later I received an invoice in the mail showing I owed an additional 90 some dollars. I cannot say I would recommend this company to anyone, especially a friend! read more

I've used Mikes heating and air before for maintenance but this was different,...it was an emergency. Selling my home the inspector thought my heat pump wasn't working. Mikes came out right away (which kept my timeline on the home sale intact) and found out that my heat pump was fine,.... BUT my furnace was leaking gas, it was unsafe and needed replaced. I was so stressed I thought I'd have a heart attack. I was on a time line and didn't expect the additional expense. Mikes hearing made it a priority and my new gas furnace is in 4 days later. Every staff person from the two ladies who helped me to the (Chris and another Chris, and a third I can't remember his name) three service men who made sure my unit was working great were so polite, professional and positive....AND my bill came in less than my initial estimate. I'd HIGHLY recommend them with out hesitation. In fact my builder friend is going to call them on the house he's currently building because he was so impressed with my experience. The A/C in my mothers home went out and we called Mike's A/C to diagnose. My mother is 89 years old. They made her pay $90 for the service call before they would have a technician go out which she did. The diagnosis was that she needed a new A/C which was no problem as we expected that based on the age of the unit. However, the technician recommended that we call around and get other bids as they were not very interested in doing the work. Their office called to follow up a few days later and we explained what happened and that we already called someone else and a new A/C was already installed. The lady was very sorry for what happened but did not offer to refund the $90 service call as good faith! Steer clear!!! read more

Unfortunately Mikes Heating and Air let us down. The service man (James) misdiagnosed the problem with our unit. After no return calls about a quote we ordered the part and had it installed only to find out that original part was just fine. We paid the tech when he was here then they double billed us as well. Months of trying to have the situation made right with no success. Not even a return call. Pretty disappointing. They didn't hold themselves accountable nor were they honest. They were called because we have a lenox system and they are a lenox dealer. When the technician arrived he was told that the thermostat did not seem to be shutting off the indoor fan. He checked the system and said it was the relay and not the thermostat. Changed the relay charged 210 dollars and did not wait to see if the problem was fixed. The system function the same with the new relay as it did with the old relay, the relay was not the issue. We had them come back and asked them to bring a basic thermostat. The technician arrived and did not have a basic thermostat, he had one with all of the bells and wifi. Then said they would call back with estimate, I had to call back the next day because they didn't respond I was told they wanted 384 dollars. We called another company and got it done for 209 and system is fine now. Mikes was incompetent at best read more

Service tech was knowledgable and courteous. Was able diagnosis the problem in short order. My problem was with there office and the pricing for the replacement of the control board. They changed $90 for the diagnosis which was reasonable. But charged $621 to replace the control board which took less then an hour. You can purchase a new control board for my mom's unit all day long between $200 to $250. So you can do the math there hourly rate is $120 so they soaked my mom, (84 yrs old on a fixed income) $500 dollars for the replacement board. That's a 100% to 150% markup! I'd prefer to give 0 stars. Mike's came out to do a regular check-up/service on my mom's furnace. They charged about $275. 2 weeks later, my mom's husband woke up and felt drugged and said he thought maybe there was carbon dioxide in the air. We called Mikes, they came out and said yes there was and they turned off all heat to the house in the dead of winter. Mike's also said we'd need to order a part (covered by warranty) but that the labor would be about $1,200 to install! They said it would take 2 people 5 hours to install because the "part was heavy." They also said it would take SIX weeks to get the part and get someone out there (one factory in the US that had burned down?!?!?!) I told them this was not an option as my mom is on hospice and housebound and her husband is elderly and has pneumonia. They said they couldn't do anything about it. Long story short, we called another service in Salem who had originally installed the furnace. They came out, re-serviced the furnace, said it did not need a new part. Heat was back on within an hour at no cost. After asking other friends in the area, they said absolutely stay away from Mike's!!! read more

Woke up New Years morning to a 60 degree house. Being new to the area I called a Realtor friend and a maintenance engineer friend and both recommended Mikes. Called the emergency number and got an actual live person after 3 minutes on hold. She said their on call tech would call within 30 minutes. Got the call from Dave in 10 minutes. He did all he could to walk me through what I could try. That didn't work so he said he said 'I'll be there in 30 minutes'. Showed up on time and had the igniter replaced in well under an hour. True professional with a 'do all I can' attitude. Very rare these days. Customer service above and beyond. I highly recommend Mike's for whatever your heating an cooling needs are. read more

I guess these folks are too big for their britches! First, I called to make an appointment with them, described my issue, and was told they would be at my house between 10am and noon the following day. When no one showed up by noon, I called, only to be told there was no record of my appointment. (I should have just cancelled then) but they'd get someone out there later in the day. I asked them to have the tech call me with any questions or findings, but he didn't do that. Instead he told my daughter some vague story about a "motor" that needed to be replaced... (again I should have cancelled)... and no one called me. When I called them the next day, they didn't know how much it would cost to fix it, or how long it would take to get the magic motor. After two days of chasing them, I finally got a quote of $733...above and beyond the $90 they charged me for the privilege of having them come out. This seemed kind of high so I took the time to look up a local, smaller HVAC company and ask them a few questions. Long story shorter... the nice, honest local guy fixed my AC in an hour for $167! So Mike's... Enjoy your $90. I certainly won't be recommending you to anyone I know. read more
