Excellent service, courteous, honest and professional...for those who want more detail: Greg's HVAC (now out of business) installed the capacitor incorrectly while also using a "universal" size unit which finally shorted itself out against the incorrectly installed housing it was screwed into. Santiam HVAC sent an estimator to tell me prior to Rice, that I needed an entire new unit at about $7500.00 this without even opening the panel in the old York outdoor unit. So we had them out to look at our furnace that was dripping water from the bottom corner of the cabinet. I sorta handy so I watched some u tube and busted out some tools. I did all the thing the videos said to do and check.. guess what u tube lied none of these fixed my issue. So I had to call in the big guns to come check it out. Rice came out with in 24 hours of contact. They checked it out and told us what was going on and were willing to listen to what I had to say. They dropped off estm for repairs the next day. Seems to be nice and seem to be fair. And price to come check it was inline. If you hvac work I would say give them a call and have them come look. read more

Our heat pump just quit and the company that originally installed it seemed to have gone downhill....So I called Rice and I must say it turned out to be a good choice! They had a man here fast and if I had to characterize his working style I would say he (Ron) was masterful. Seriously! He contacted the manufacturer and got the part sent under warranty (which was lucky as it's just short of expiration.) Ron was back with the part in a little over 24hrs. I observed the repair and it' s easy to tell when folks are competant and experienced. Not to mention that they got the part under warrany even though they didn't install the unit! The AC went out in my rental on a very warm day. I was not optimistic about getting someone out same day because usually HVAC people are slammed during hot weather. The tech was there within a couple of hours and replaced the starting capacitor on the outside fan. I dealt with commercial HVAC for years on my job in Portland and feel that their prices were quite reasonable. Called them to fix my AC. Easy fix, quickly done. I had previously called another firm to take care of an issue with my furnace. They did there best to convince my my hvac was mismatched and undersized for the house. So I asked the tech from Rice. I expected a sales pitch but he said no, my hvac was the correct size and in generally good shape. Needless to say I'll call Rice again if I need service or replacement. read more

You all were fantastic. We called Monday of Thanksgiving week with a broken furnace and Calvin was able to squeeze us in for an initial inspection that very afternoon. He found the exact part we needed for our 26-year-old furnace, had it sent within a day or two, and the morning after Thanksgiving another tech came to install. Calvin was here in 10 minutes on Saturday, the day before July 4th when our A/C went out. He was extremely thorough, knowledgeable, kind, professional. We needed a new motor but he was able to fix it for a period of time. By the time we called in the morning of the next business day to give credit card, they had already ordered the new part. Rices Heating came to do a cleaning and inspection of a furnace at one of my listings. I have watched several heating companies do cleaning and furnace inspections and I must say these guys did one of the most thorough inspections I have seen. As a tool/gadget guy I noticed they had way better equipment than the heating company I saw do the same work job a couple days before. With all the parties and their agents involved there was some miscommunication and confusion and I was so happy to see the owner Calvin quickly stepped in and made the issue right for everyone. We had a problem with our HVAC system and called one company who did a short inspection and promptly told me that we needed a whole new HVAC system and generously provided a list of selections that ranged from $7,000.00-$16,000.00. We then called two other companies who came out and did their own inspection and both told us that in fact, No, we did not need a whole new system and both recommended the same alternate and significantly cheaper remedies. We chose to have Rice Heating and Air do the repairs, we are very happy with their customer service and the work they do. I would strongly recommend them and would certainly call them again for future issues. read more

Rice Heating installed a new heater and air conditioner four years ago and have been maintaining them ever since. The best and most honest service I have used over the years. This week, the furnace had a valve malfunction and after giving them a call they were able to get a replacement part and have it replaced/repaired within 24 hours. I recently used Rice Heating to run lines for new gas appliances in my house. Rice also took proactive charge of getting the new appliances in and hooked up (including stove and furnace), and making sure all local inspection requirements were met. Calvin just made things happen. Their prices are reasonable, they are ultra-responsive, and very knowledgeable and professional in answering questions and figuring how to accomplish a task that takes some creativity because of how my house is constructed. Simply amazing service. I asked Rice heating to give me a bid for a new AC unit in a rental home in Albany. Calvin bid the job the next business day and personally delivered the bid to my home in Corvallis. Then, a few days later, in the middle of a heat wave, I awarded Rice Heating the bid and asked Calvin to install the AC unit ASAP for my 75 year-old tenant. She was really suffering in 99+ degree heat. Calvin had his crew on site at 8:00 A.M. the next morning and, within 24 hours of awarding him the bid, the AC unit was completely installed and cooling the house. You cannot possibly provide better service than that. They were timely, polite, and offered very fair pricing. Thank you!!!!! read more

It is hard to convey the depths of the poor (and inept) customer service I received from Rice Heating. Last incident that broke the camel's back: spent close to a thousand dollars in one month with them for rental various units. One tenant had no heat (in winter), so I called Rice and asked them to please fix the problem. Was billed and paid. Tenant calls and tells me a week later that the heat still isn't working and that the technician, Vern, stated that problem was going to be "Very expensive to fix.". Excuse me?! No one told me this! I already paid hundreds of dollars with the understanding that the problem was fixed. Called Rice and spoke to (a very guarded) Annette; I wasn't angry, agreed mistakes happen, I just want to get the problem solved ASAP (tenant without heat in January). I asked that someone call me and let me know what's wrong, what it will take to fix, etc. She agrees to find out ASAP and get back to me. I wait several days and I finally call. Profuse apologies. I am now told Vern will call next day. No call. I call AGAIN. Profuse apologies and I am assured he will call the next day. Ask Annette to repeat it. You guessed it...no call. I am a small business owner and I would be ashamed to run my business like this. Oh, and a competitor fixed the issue in "10 minutes" for a measly hour-long, service-call rate. read more
