The starter went out on my car and I hadn't driven it for quite awhile. The anti-theft system had also engaged for some reason and disabled the car as well. Mike was able to change the starter and trouble shoot the problem with the anti-theft, a blown fuse hidden under the dash, all for just a little more than it would have cost me to have the car towed to a shop. I called on Saturday and spoke to the mechanic. Per his request, I texted my location and was told it would be about an hour or so before he could make it out my way. I waited 3 hours and called two more times and getting voicemail each time. It's now Sunday, I'm back at the vehicle that needs to be repaired conducting more troubleshooting and pull up Yelp to find an alternate mobile mechanic. I see that Mike's mobile mechanic is open until 2p. I called again thinking I would give another try and once again get voicemail. I text the number again and no response. Pre-purchase inspection I contacted Mike about a certified Honda Fit we had found in the Ft. Worth area. Instead of driving up, I wanted a mechanic to look at the car and let us know if it was worth the drive. First, he answered his work phone on New Year's day! I was able to schedule him for Jan 2 to look at the car. He kept me posted on his schedule and got to the car after 5 pm. He did his inspection and sent me a text about some issues (we found minor). He offered to video his concerns, but after talking with him about his findings, I didn't feel it was necessary. Next day, we drove to Ft. Worth, drove the car, and purchased it. So far, so good. A few weeks ago, my college-age son and I planned to drive from Austin to Arlington to look at a 2006 Toyota Camry we had found online. We were also determined to find a good mechanic to help us decide whether the car would be good purchase or not. Before we left Austin, we found Mike's Mobile Mechanic on the internet and called him to arrange a meeting to look at the car the next afternoon once we arrived in Arlington. When Mike arrived at the dealer, we were impressed with his easy-going nature as well as his obvious expertise in cars. While he thought the car was a good value overall, he also found several significant issues that needed attention, including an important safety issue related to a bulge in one of the front tires. Although the dealer would not budge on the price, Mike was able to point out these issues and helped us negotiate for the dealer to actually repair all of the issues before we headed back to Austin - including getting a brand new tire. We are extremely appreciative that Mike was so thorough and also able to use his expertise to help us purchase a safe and reliable car. He also prevented what likely would have been a blow-out for our trip back home.
