Brakes were 'shuddering' for a few weeks and found this shop walking distance from home (you know you have to factor in the Uber/Lyft ride costs to and from if you're single). Great reviews so I booked an appointment. Vehicle done same day with fair pricing using Toyota pads. It is an FJ cruiser so there's no temptation to drive fast, but braking is so buttery smooth. We took my hubby's car in to have its brakes checked out, not knowing whether it would be a couple hundred dollars or over a thousand. We picked T & T because the reviews here (though not many) sounded 'real' and searching the web, we could only find good comments, no BBB complaints etc. We got an appointment quickly, dropped the car off, got a call an hour or so later from Joe saying that only our front brakes needed work, the pads were almost gone but they could reuse the rotors etc. He said we could probably wait another 10-12k miles to work on the back brakes. Total price was under $225. Additionally, they told us our battery was a bit weak and should be replaced, but that honestly we could probably get it done cheaper elsewhere than for what they could charge. While we were picking the car up, there was another gentleman picking up his car who was telling us he has been a customer here for about 20 years and how great a shop it is. This place is great, they put new rear brake shoes, turned the drums, new wheel cylinders and all new brake fluid in just over 2 hours while I waited. My son goes to school in dfw area. Bearing in his car failed. We didn't know any mechanics in the area, and were referred to t and t. They could have taken advantage of the situation and overcharged him, but they were completely fair and did a great job on the repair at a good price. Last weekend, we came in town to visit and experienced a problem with our own vehicle. My son texted Joe after hours(630pm), explained the problem, and Joe offered to work us in the next morning. Joe has been working on my cars for quite a while now. He's very reasonably priced and extremely knowledgeable. I've never experienced the horror stories associated with mechanics who demand that you need all sorts of extra services. A trip to T&T usually needs a phone call first. His shop can get pretty busy from what I've seen. For scheduled maintenance and minor problems, this is easy enough to work around. For emergencies and break downs, I've had my car towed to the shop and left the keys in the drop box. He can usually get to it in a timely manner. If he can't, he can tell you who to take it to that would work on it in a way he trusts. In particular, I have a square body Suburban that he's saved me on several times. He seems to be one of the few left around who still knows the ins, outs, and quirks of the older vehicles. This is the first place I recommend any time someone asks me about a good, trustworthy mechanic. read more

Normally I visit a place more than once before writing a 5 star review, but I found out my father in law has been going to this place for 20+ years. The employees even knew him by name and what kind of car he has. He's had great experiences, and he's a cheap ****ard, so I trust his judgement. My experience: Brakes making noise. Check engine light on. Dropped off at 7, they were done at 8:something. Their advice: Brakes are safe. If you can handle the annoying noise, the rotor will need to be replaced with the next pad change, but if it were my car, I'd wait about another 12000 miles then change the pads and rotors; we'll try to salvage the rotors but they're getting pretty thing so you can decide at that point. The check engine light: based on the readings blah blah blah, but don't worry about it; I cleaned off the sensor, give it a few days and let me know if it comes back on and we'll take a closer look, but based on that reading this usually fixes it. Charge: $0.00. Business decision: Excellent, because now I'll probably be a 20+ year customer as well. I think they may have even washed the car? It looks cleaner to me. Tip: Call first. The reason they're so fast is they only schedule a certain number of cars per day so that your car doesn't sit on the lot for half a day to a day before getting looked at (which is what happens at most places) read more

I went to Kwik Lube on Brown Blvd because it's near my apts. for a brake inspection. They tried to charge me $1175 for a brake job. I said that was TOO high. I looked up brake service in Arlington and T & T came up..I took my car over and I told Joe the Mechanic what Kwik Lube tried to charge me. He scheduled my appt for the next day..I arrived at 8:00 am and left at 10:30 and he only charged me $545!! Greatness. You can trust them to do only the needed repairs, to call if something is discovered that will cost extra, and I've never had a problem with any repair. My 1998 Corolla had an engine fire . . they brought it back to life for a low price . . . I was already shopping for a replacement when they called and said "all ready, come and get it . . ." I usually don't post a review of the first visit, but 5 star is 5 star. I was referred to T&T by North Texas Transmission (another solid shop). Normally, T&T is appointment only, but they squeezed me in (you should call first, there are reasons these guys are so busy). A noise that I thought was transmission was more than likely front-end related (control arms, ball joints, etc.). And while the front-end work did need to get done, T&T diagnosed the actual noise was exhaust system related. T&T quoted me $1,500 to do the front-end work. They called me when it was done and I went to the shop. The mechanism reviewed the work they did and mentioned that my front brake pads were really low. Before I could get out "ok... how much???" he said they went ahead and, since the wheels were off anyway, they swapped them and included it as part of the original quote. Yeah, not a typo. They swapped out the pads without charging more. Pretty much the polar opposite of what you get when you go to one of the "brand name" places. The last time a mechanic did me a solid like this was, well... never. Drove the car back to work and then home, runs great. I'm not sure if I'm doing these guys a favor by posting this review (I doubt they regularly give brake pads away), but I got the vibe that this is how they do business (i.e. not milking people out of every last penny). For anything over and above a simple oil change, I'm making the trek to beautiful southwest Arlington (T&T is not just a brake shop). read more

After 6 years, 71k+ miles and no brake service done, I was starting to get nervous about the condition of my brakes. Due to circumstances that came up, I was not able to drop off my car, I had to wait. The back brakes were fine and the front brakes still had another 2 to 3k miles left. With only 2k to 3k miles left in the front, they replaced the pads. The pads were supposed to be delivered by Honda, but when they hadn't showed up within 30 minutes, someone called Honda couldn't get a delivery time so they went and picked them up. I really appreciated the "above and beyond" service. I was also happy to learn that they are a full service shop, not just a brake service shop. read more

I've had my car for quite a few years and I've had the breaks done in the back just pads and it was almost $300. I went to T&T because of the reviews and years ago when I had an issue with my parking brake for an inspection the place I went to referred me to T&T they were fully booked so I ended up somewhere else. I do remember the tech told me that they refer all of their brake customers there. I'm glad I remember and glad I went to T&T. I had needed new rotors in the front and a cylinder replaced in the back because they didn't need to be changed. The thing that I really appreciate about T&T is they are so honest. They gave me a great price for what I needed and the work was done quickly. I asked about an oil change but again honest and advised they aren't the cheapest but they could do it. I appreciated that.
