I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Mike's Performance Garage. My air conditioner started making noises and blowing warm air, and I was dreading the potential cost and inconvenience of getting it fixed. However, as usual, Mike dealt with the issue with professionalism and a genuine commitment to solving my problem without gouging me with a costly repair. Mike diagnosed the issue and explained it to me in terms I could understand, which I really appreciated. He gave me a clear breakdown of the repair process and an estimate of the cost, which was fair and reasonable. He didn't JUMP to charge me for an expensive part that I didn't need (which the dealership would have done). The repair itself was completed in a timely manner, and when I picked up my car, the air conditioner was working better than ever. Update to my original post...when I was NEW (naive) customer. Thought I'd found a great mechanic but low & behold...just another disappointment! It's taken me awhile to write this since I do have other life priorities than writing reviews. But here it finally is. After they changed my front brakes, and let them convince me the rotors needed changed but...did not. What was I thinking?! Anyway...finally had funds to get the rear brakes done. Was given an estimate but then AFTER the brakes were done & I got the bill it was $200 higher (I realize and estimate is just that) however $200 when they couldn't get the ones quoted so got the more expensive ones, without telling me First! Considering I am barely surviving on SS (which they were aware of my financial constraints) but even if not...they should've told me BEFORE they did the job giving me the option to reschedule!! It wasn't a dire emergency! It wouldn't been the smart decision...it's just poor business sense if one really cares about retaining a customer! On top of that, the rotors unlike the front ones which aren't near as bad, have the greatest amount of brake dust I've ever experienced on my 19 yo car...it accumulates in less than 2 days! They constantly need Cleaned it's so horrendous and unsightly...and for $200 MORE?!?! Plus they Screech when I brake!! Unacceptable & Inexcusable!! I needed an upper radiator hose replaced and then replace coolant on July 22. It took him less than 30 minutes. I was quoted $133.69. when finished and I had to pay they charged me $230.75. I asked where the extra $100 came from and she said labor. first of all first estimate should have covered labor but even if not how can they charge $200 an hr???? I would give zero stars!!!! The put a clutch in backwards on my Hellcat. Charged me for lift time And a battery they never gave me. Then they jumped my car (with the old battery) and killed the alternator. Charged me for that. Total was almost $7000. Had to go to Gearheads to fix it. I called on saturday and Ray answered the phone, he asked how he can serve me. I explained I had a headlight out, he said they are not normally open in Saturday's, but he said to come in. Showed up, he looked at issue, and replaced the headlight on sight. Very friendly and knowledgeable on Mercedes Benz. I think I found a new home for all of my future maintenance and repair needs. I felt compelled to write a review after my experience as a recent customer at Mike's. I own a 2008 Ford Edge with 292,000 miles on it and haven't exactly been the best with maintenance over the years. I haven't had to because it's been quite dependable. However, I finally did have a big enough issue requiring the services of a full service mechanic and was lucky enough to discover Mike's. Mike and his technicians are what all garages and mechanics used to be, but should always be: honest, reasonable, and competent. Mike and his guys are all of these and then some. Their shop has an old school feel, but they are completely comfortable with today's automated and computerized systems in our vehicles. My car could probably use a thousand little things because of age and condition, but Mike focused on my original problem - a sudden and severe oil leak. During the repair, Mike and his guys discovered a couple of small things that took very little time or money to address and not only did I get my vehicle back with the original problem resolved at a competitive price point, but my old Ford came back to me idling smoother and running better then when I dropped it off. I was pretty frustrated because I had some faulty gauges, lights and other electrical items on my restored 1984 Jeep Scrambler that nobody seemed to be able to get working properly. I took the Jeep to Mike's and not only did they get everything working when no one else could they "educated" me on why and how they got everything working. This place is tremendous. I searched for a mechanic with high reviews in the Fort Pierce and Vero Beach areas and came across Mike's. He had a ton of great reviews on Google. I asked Mike to do a thorough inspection on a used truck that I was buying from a stranger. He did the inspection including a compression test and walked me through everything that was right and wrong with the truck and told me how much each of the repairs would cost. He helped me negotiate a much lower price than I otherwise would have been able to pay on my own. His knowledge about the truck (Chevy C10) and ability to negotiate were impressive.
