Not exactly the news you want to hear right before making a two-hour drive back to Orlando! At a moment's notice, I rolled into Tire Kingdom and somewhat frantically asked for help. Glen, a manager, immediately stepped in, assessed the tire, and confirmed that it would be perilous to drive on-- especially for two hours. Without hesitation, he offered to have the tire changed out for the spare donut, free of charge. Eddie, the technician, got right to it and changed the tire with incredible dexterity, skill, and ease. Within minutes, I was safely back on my way. The entire situation was handled with such calmness, assurance, expertise, and generosity that it turned what could have been a stressful-- and potentially dangerous-- situation into an incredibly positive experience. Their kindness deserved some kindness in return, so I bought the them lunch. It was the least I could do after they accommodated such a last-minute request and got me safely back on the road. I drove 50 mph all the way back to Orlando, but I made it safely and with the confidence that I'd been guided well. On the sign, it says family run business for 50+ years. I pull in and was greeted by a cordial man who took my info and I made an appointment for later that week. Returned on my scheduled day. I asked for an oil change and complete inspection of my car including the tires and left my car there. They called me about 45 mins later and said my car was ready. I asked about the inspection and they said everything was fine! Since when do you leave your car for work to be done and they don't upsell you something? I was amazed! Included with my oil change was the tires rotated and pressures checked. And, the charge was less than I pay at Firestone for the same service using a coupon lol I was treated with kindness by 2 employees in the parking lot and the lady in the office. Walking past my tire I see a big ole screw jutting out and the air pressure is low according to me sensor - wonderful. Having had some negative experiences with the local tire shops who all want to sell you a new tire instead of a relatively cheap repair, I popped online for a search to see what the alternatives were and Perry Mobile Tire Service popped up. All the reviews looked promising so I gave them a call - James answered, we had a quick chat and he said he would be by in about 30 minutes. 30 minutes later that truck pulled up and we had a good conversation as he proceeded to repair my tire while the car was in my driveway- what more could you ask for? I am a former mechanic and know how to correctly repair a vehicle. I am not local to Vero so they have been taking care of my 84 year old mothers repair needs for a couple of years now. She calls me with her estimates and questions. On many occasions i have on my visits to her confirmed the need for the recommended repairs and they have been spot on and never seem to try to include unnecessary add ons. She has been to other shops before she found this one and they would always try to add on easy money scam repairs that i would have to advise against. That doesnt happen here. Out of that total, $99 was a separate diagnostic fee, which they insisted on charging even though I approved the repair and had it fixed on the spot. I've been to many shops before, and in my experience, diagnostic fees are often waived or included when the customer proceeds with the repair. That was not the case here. The verbal quote already sounded high, but I was under time pressure since I needed the car for a trip later that afternoon and didn't have time to get another estimate. I accepted the quote, but after seeing the final bill, I strongly feel the price was unfair for the amount of work done. Even without the diagnostic fee, the repair cost alone was higher than what other shops typically charge for the same job. Dealing with the store manager, Rhett, was also frustrating. He was difficult to work with and repeatedly argued that charging a separate diagnostic fee on top of the repair was "fair," despite my concerns.
