I would give this guy negative stars if I could. This sour guy gave me an issue, with attitude, getting a refund on an order I placed, that he could not get, before I was able to on my own. When I did get my order and requested a refund, he wanted me to bring my order in to prove I got it before issuing me my refund... needless to say I angrily refused, drove over there and demanded my refund, which I hastily got, only after becoming very agitated. Do drop in. Mike knows his product, and he is passionate about what he sells. Mike carries all the train brands and even Thomas the Tank Engine for those young folks just starting out in trains. He carries themed Lionel complete kits for the big kids ( adults ) too. I.e. Yankee / Metz Subway Series, etc. or set ups you can run your train by an IPad. You can add electronics to your current train set. What's stopping you? Come on down. We purchased two remote controlled helicopters for our nephew. Can't wait to try them out. Amazing small shop for everything RC and trains. Went in for a Traxxas Lipo and he had an entire Traxxas section in the back that amazed me. Helped me find the exact battery I needed at a very fair price and was very knowledgeable and helpful about everything. Will be coming back not too many shops like this around anymore. read more

I ordered some N scale items from this place. Paid when I placed the order. Never heard from them. Stopped in to see about my order, and showed my receipt. I was told I could have gotten that receipt from anyplace. I never received what I paid for. After talking with others in the hobby I have heard many similar stories about this place. Mike's Train Shop has a horrible reputation. I may stop in and look at things, even ask questions, but I'll buy it online or from Ponchatoula. Since then I have purchased over $10,000 of trains, almost all 3 rail O scale. And not 1 cent went through Mike's Train Shop. read more

I am as green as it gets when it comes to RC. With a two electronics classes in college under my belt I decided to purchase a DIY FPV racing drone kit. I needed a few more things that weren't provided for 117.99. Namely, a transmitter, receiver & 11.1V 2200mAh 3s lipo battery to power the frankendrone. He had a wonderful selection of various inventory. My budget was $300 and I brought cash, as to not spend more than what I budgeted for. Thanks to Mike for extending an olive branch to a noobie and providing me with excellent customer service. I bought a brand spanking new Spektrum DX6 transmitter with retails for $199.99. A Spektrum AS3X receiver retailing at $84.99. An E-flite 30C 11.1V 2200mAh lip battery at $39.99 and lastly a couple of battery connectors for $3.99. ALL FOR $300! Probably shouldn't broadcast what an incredible deal I received. I didn't have enough to pay... so I was going to buy the cheaper nano receiver ignorant to the fact that my servos wouldn't fit. At the last minute he said "wait a minute," walked back and got the more expensive receiver and said "Merry Christmas." I had not the best holidays and this just made my day! The owner has a nasty attitude and poor customer service . He sold my boyfriend the wrong part for his traxxas even after checking the pamphlet for the parts . We went back the next day to return it and he said he didn't have the part so we just asked for a refund . We started the return and i needed to "type in my pin" to complete the refund. I do as he said and the transaction did not work it brought us back to the start of the return. He swipe the card again to start over and the machine asked me to select what type of card it was so I proceeded to do that he told me no you just need to do as I say with a nasty attitude so I stop and look at my boyfriend to make sure that I wasnt over exaggerating . My boyfriend also caught the attitude and told me to just go to the car so as I'm walking off the owner continued to say it's simple you just need to listen . So I said sir you don't have to talk to me like that you telling me to do one thing but the machine telling me to select debit . He keep saying I needed to do as he said but it wasn't working i told him again you did not have to talk to me that way . He was just going off so I told him how are you going to run a business with no customer service and proceeded to walk out he cut me off saying he been in business for over 50 years at the point I just walked out . read more

I went to get a pinion gear and a spur gear for my stampede 4x4 he pulled out the handbook for it and sold me the parts in the handbook. When i got home that night i tried to put it in but realized the pinion gear he sold me was not compatible with my traxxas so i went back the next day i went back to get a refund. I left my wife to finish the transaction while i get my phone out my truck when i came back he was telling my wife to put in the pin and hit green but the machine was saying to select debit or MasterCard. So she selected debit and he had an attitude and said no do what im telling you to do. She was trying to explaing to him that the machine was saying to select and option but he wasnt trying to hear her and he kept saying just do what im telling you to do its that simple. It was just a terrible experience and he was very rude. I believe he sold me the part just to make the sell. read more

I WANTED MY BIRD'S WINGS TO FLAP! I'm an artist and my goal was to create a soft sculpture of a wild bird with flapping wings for a Mardi Gras Art Exhibition with the theme "Let it Fly"! I searched all over town for a small motor - then finally I found one at Mike's Train Shop! Mike and his assistant were willing to assist & explained gears to me. They helped me order the correct motor for this project. Then later, I brought in my bird "skeleton" and they helped me figure out how to hook up the motor to the "wings" & the battery. They even told me that if I needed any further help, don't hesitate to come back. I couldn't have done it without them! The picture I've attached is my "Wild Tchoupitoulas Mardi Gras Bird". I walked into the store and started too take a look around. I then noticed that the owner would not stop watching me as if I was going rob him blind. He then started to follow me and a friend around the store and kept saying "you break it you bought it". I then purchased a train from this store (looking back not a good idea). I then got home only to find out what I bought was broken. I had to take it too another train shop to be repaired. If you want a train I'll give you a great suggestion as to where not to go and that is here. read more

So I go down here to get a train. I bought a train. When I got home the motors front wheels were locked up and the back wheels could not spin because the gear that transferred the power from the motor to the two wheels was broken. read more
