Walking into this place reminded of Mr. Megoriums Emporium!!! I'm sure I misspelled the movie name, btw. But it was a very nice change from what people call toy stores today. Their train sets and race car tracks are all assembled so you can see what you are getting. Numerous larger toys, walkers, carts, tricycles are assembled and can be touched and felt. I really appreciated the fact there were toys made throughout Europe and the US. It wasn't all a bunch of Chinese junk. They asked if I wanted free gift wrapping, hell yeah! Stopped into Le Jouet for some bike tires on a recommendation from a friend for quick same day service and not only did I get new tires I got a complimentary tune up while there and my bike rides like new ever since. Fantastic local toy store on airline. Came here with our one month old to check out this store after hearing about their story. The place is slammed with toys for every age and a great selection of bikes. The amount of baby books we found was amazing and ended up buying about 4 of them. The games and puzzle selection was pretty good too. They gift wrap the present for you free of charge and as you can see in the picture, the wrapping is high quality! I buy all my great grandchildren's toys here. My own three daughters had Madam Alexander Dolls when growing up. Pussy Cat baby dolls and the oldest sister had Scarlet O'Hara from Gone With the Wind, with her gorgeous green eyes, with green velvet belt with rhinestone buckle and long black hair. They brought my daughters many years of joy. Sadly they were victims of Katrina, having had them since 1965+, as keepsakes for their children. I also love that Le Jouet till sells certain Vintage toys and lovely books. Would rather support local toy stores rather big box and on-line stores . Make a visit, you wll be amazed! What a great store! I can't believe that being a NOLA native, I never visited this store until this past Christmas. Le Jouet has been operating in the New Orleans metro area since 1968 and is locally owned and operated. And it definitely has a "Naturally Nawlins" feel about it. This store has a huge selection (and I mean HUGE) of bicycles, tricycles and wagons. In fact, they are probably the largest retailer of Radio Flyer products in the area, as there are models that I have never seen before in my life. I ended up purchasing the Radio Flyer Ultimate Family Wagon for my son's second Christmas, and my salesperson was more than happy to take all the wagons off the shelf so that I compare them all side by side. This store is all about customer service and they are dedicated to doing whatever it takes to make their customers happy. In fact, when I was initially undecided as to which wagon I wanted to buy, our salesperson even showed us a Radio Flyer catalog so that we could see every option available. Store owner Buddy Wood is also a bicycle mechanic and has the most impressive and well organized bicycle shop I have ever seen. He works side by side with his employees assembling bicycle, tricycles and wagons for his customers and was very happy to engage me in conversation as I complimented him on his impressive shop. Le Jouet has a large section of educational toys as well; including old school toys that I have not sen since I was a child. There is also a large outside display of swings, sandboxes & slides that brings out the kid in everyone. This store is intoxicatingly fun, and it brings back memories of carefree days of shopping for Christmas toys as a kid. As a bonus, Le Jouet will gift wrap your toys at no extra charge, and I must say that they did an excellent job, as I bought 4 or 5 gifts while I was there and they looked as if they were ready for a Christmas display case. I did find their prices to be slightly higher than some of the big chain toy stores or department stores, but you are truly getting a good value for your money, as you have the peace of mind of dealing with happy, honest folks who stand by their products and their store. Even if you're not looking for a toy and have a little time, stop on by and experience that magical feeling you used to get as a child. But make sure you go Monday through Saturday between 8 AM and 6 PM, as they are closed on Sunday. But this is all right by me. read more

This is a great, locally owned toy store. They have a variety of toys, bikes and outdoor toys (ride on toys and swing sets). For being locally owned, the selection is fantastic and always includes some really unique items you might not find else where. The service is spot on and they is always the option to have them assemble the item you are purchasing (typically for a fee). Their prices can be a tad higher than some of the other stores, but well worth it for the knowledgeable service received and to support this local icon. Seriously, I was here for maybe 45 minutes and scored maybe a dozen christmas presents, all under $20. The prices were definitely comparable to what I've seen around town (including some of the big box stores). The staff was very knowledgeable and patient. Shout out to the young woman who was helping the set of grandparents pick out a remote controlled car for their grandson. How you dealt with their bickering was model of patience. Plus I'm pretty sure they assemble many of the toys they sell, not just the bikes...but that might be for an added fee. read more

This is a really great toy and bike store. They have an excellent selection of items and you should be able to find a toy to make just about any age kid happy. There were some toys that were so cool I had to resist the urge to buy them myself as I wanted to take them home and play with them. They have some items I haven't seen since I was a kid that used to be carried by most of the toy stores in the French Quarter but you can't find them in those places anymore. They certainly have a great selection and the prices are sometimes more than you will pay at the soul sucking chain stores but you also get great service here. I always wanted to need a toy, so I could visit Le Jouet. That want and need became reality today. I knew I would find whatever I was looking for at Le Jouet. I was there to buy a gift or 2 for my friends son, who I was visiting later this week. Now, a good "auntie" should never visit empty handed...so, I knew, through word of mouth and of Yelp that Le Jouet was my answer. I didn't know what I was looking for, but I found 2 perfect and adorable items, had them gift wrapped, and was in and out the door in less than 30 minutes. The service here is excellent as well as the selection. Wish I came in before to browse and acquaint myself with their product line, but I haven't been in the market for childrens' toys for a long time. Knowing that they also do bicycle repairs too was comforting as most bike repair places I have frequented were of poor experience. I love this place. They have wonderful service. I messaged them on Facebook about a stuffed dinosaur. They messaged me back within 15 minutes and told me about their selection. I told them "Yes, I want the brachiosaurus!" They put it in the back and I picked it up the next day. And they gift wrapped it for me! What business replies to a facebook message? Not many! I really like this shop a lot. It's technically a bike and toy shop which is pretty awesome already. I do mainly go for my biking needs though. While they dont have as much stuff as other bike-specific shops.. they almost always have what I need...and I think this store is more or less geared for that... people who like to ride their bikes but less so to the hard-core tour rider (but they have stuff for them too) their prices are probably some of the best I've seen especially for tubes and tires, etc. I've had my bike serviced here a couple of times and the service was always speedy and well... what I really like about the mechanics here is how they are willing to let you know things in the future so you dont have to pay to get it fixed again in the future.. i've also seen them on a couple of local bike tours and they fixed my spokes and fixed a tube for free!!! It's a highly underrated place to go for biking needs but I kind of like it that way. The only thing they need to do for me is get a water bottle preferably one just like their logo with a clown on a unicycle with balloons in his hand (I told them to do this last time and I REALLY hope they take my advice) read more

This is perhaps the best toy store I've ever been in. They have an extensive selection of, well, everything. As I browsed, I kept saying "Oh my god! I LOVED this when I was a kid!" They have a great game selection, great puzzle selection, and a great stuffed animal selection. Disclaimer: this review is based solely on the toys, I'm not a regular toy shopper so I have no idea how their prices compare to other places. They also have a great bike section and a bike shop. It's not much to look at from the outside, but don't let that fool you, it has fabulousness inside. I've never shopped here for toys, but this is my go to spot to fix my mountain bike. The repair guys are really knowledgeable and also down to earth as opposed to some bike shops that I've been to with holier than thou bike snobs. Also, I know that Le Jouet has a reputation for being expensive, but the repairs I've had done here were all much less expensive than anywhere else I've been. In one case, I had some busted spokes and I needed to get my wheel trued. I called a couple of places and they all wanted $15-$20. Le Jouet charged me $4.50. read more

During our time in quarantine, my son learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. His front axle's bearings were all busted and he couldn't ride until we fixed it. Due to my work schedule, I needed to replace it that day or he would be without a bike for over a week. Le Jouet, even though they were closed that day to complete internal work, they met me outside of the store with the wheel and made it very easy. A little known fact is that Le Jouet has an excellent bike shop. I was rebuilding a beat up 1978 Schwinn Continental and they had everything I needed on hand. No ordering and no excuses, the friendly staff got me fixed up with the correct parts, including custom cut brake and gear cables. The guys in the bike shop have a huge amount of knowledge and experience and advised me on how to proceed with the rebuild. Quite a task as I don't know anything about bike repair. Many people may not realize that LeJouet has a great department to take care of all of your bicycle repairs. They provide great customer service and I bought all of my children's Schwinn bikes from them as they were growing up. In the late '80's they even ordered a race frame for me and the Shimano 105 group and built the bike for me. Their service Dept is simply top notch! Le Jouet is the best toy store. My dad bought all of our christmas, birthday, etc. toys from this store when I was a kid. When I got old enough to save my allowance for special purchases, this is where we always went. I'll never forget the top notch service they did for me in their workshop when my Model Cox Airplane wouldn't start. As an adult, I shop there now whenever I need a gift for a little one. This family owned store is a child's paradise, well an adults too! They have everything you need in one store. Bikes, helmets, play sets, all the new cool toys out along with some toys I grew up with so each time I visit I stay for a while because I am oohing and awing at everything! My kids and I truly love visiting here because doesn't feel like a 'store' its more like an fun outing. The customer service you get here exceeds any other typical toy store chain by 150%.
