The store location is just up the hill from downtown. My local friends mentioned that the specialty is the turtle cheesecake ice cream. Also mentioned was the soft serve is really good and different from your regular soft serve. So, the choice was one scoop turtle cheesecake on a waffle cone. Delicious, creamy and not too sweet. Without a fro-yo bar in Halifax, getting to pile on toppings sky-high at Menchie's was a hella treat. I don't love many desserts but a nice cup of vanilla with chunks of all my favourite chocolate bars and peanut butter sauce was just about perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful and the process of loading up was pretty easy to follow. I've heard there's sometimes a wait as they keep the number of customers controlled so that it's never too crowded inside. We walked right in though, just keep it in mind.

Cafe latte in one hand and an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie in the other, I was prepared to face the cold winds coming in through the harbour. Not good. Unfortunately I have to be honest. I did not enjoy my latte. It was much like drinking a cup of hot milk. Maybe they only use 1 shot of espresso for medium lattes. I didn't ask.... and I also didn't finish drinking the latte. The cookie was 6/10. It was a large and very flat cookie. Not sure what the baking trick is to prevent your cookie batter from spreading out to far and neither do they. The cookie consistency was a crispy around the edge with a soft chewy center. I ate the whole thing. Maybe next time I will try their ice cream but for today I have to say there are other local coffee purveyors I will stick with while I'm here.
