Called inquiring about Hollywood waves for wedding party; bride and a bridal party of five girls. Called and got put on hold twice which is fine but when I spoked to the receptionist, she was EXTREMELY rude. She was huffing and puffing when speaking with me. She asked me for my availability for a consultation and when I gave her it, she rudely told me they are not open those days and asked if I even knew what days they were open. I replied no and asked what days I can come in. She said Wednesday's and I said fine but then she switched from me needing a consultation to a trial. I was confused because I did not know why I would need a trial before a consultation and she seemed annoyed and asked me rudely "don't you want a trial?". I cut her short and said never mind. I will take my money elsewhere to people who give good customer service. First impressions are everything. I've been a client of Jen's for 18 years. Almost all of my friends go to her or someone in her salon. When my brother started dating his girlfriend I referred his girlfriend and three of her friends to Jens salon and they've been going ever since for cuts and dyes (they see Malorie or Nicole). About a year after Jen opened her own salon I tried one of the other girls out, Malorie. Malorie is extremely talented, easy going and personable. Jen and Malorie are both excellent and flawlessly talented. Im never disappointed. Jen has a great place going and I'm so thankful to have her local! My hair looks AMAZING every time I walk out of this salon. I honestly will not go to any other salon because Jenn knows exactly what I like and kills it every time when it comes to color/cut/style. Everyone on the staff is super friendly from reception, to the shampoo girls, to the stylists. They always make sure you're comfortable while you're there and they've got a great atmosphere. It also doesn't go unnoticed how hard working the entire staff is with their clients. Jenn was able to take my dark roots and bring me to bright blonde which I thought would never be achievable. She has done this twice for me now from natural dark brown to blonde, back to natural roots and now back to blonde again (full set of highlights) pictures attached so you guys can see what I mean. Disclaimer: I hate getting my hair cut. HOWEVER... Mallory gets that. I feel confident letting her work her magic on my hair, whether it be a haircut, blowout or color. I started seeing her at her previous salon and followed her to Mila J. Ever since I started visiting her, my hair has been healthier and has a lot more shine. Previously, my hair was over processed and dry. Over the 3 years of visiting her, I have really watched my hair transform and make me feel a lot more confident. Aside from haircuts, I also get a full head of highlights on a regular basis. She is an expert when it comes to color. The color is never, ever brassy colored or dull. She is patient and takes her time when doing your hair. My mom visits Nicole at this salon, who also does a great job on highlights and haircuts. Overall, this is just a really good salon. Highly recommend this salon. I needed to find a new stylist was not happy with my old stylist at another salon. Received highlights and cut by Nicole Mariella before scheduling I did come in to meet her because have a hard time finding a stylist that can cut and color short hair. It's either to short or color is to severe rather then "blended" so far I like the salon. Booking my second appointment shortly. There also open on Sundays which is a nice perk. read more

When I called to let them know the issue they were super nice about it and asked me to come back so it can be fixed. It was not. One side still ended up shorter than the other. I've been getting my hair cut buy Jennifer Martinez, and literally, only, Jennifer Martinez for 20 years. I hate being girlie and having routine maintenance appointments for nails and hair so it took me a few years to get into a routine for highlights. In the interim, Jen was able to swoop in and save the day the multiple times in my life when I turned my hair orange, or green. So going to a new hair salon is always somewhat distressing. But the yelp reviews steered me to Jennifer at Mila j. Let me start with my hair. I am and older woman with dry, thinning on top, grey hair. I did not want to go to a young stylist because many of them don't understand the needs of us mature women. But I felt very much at ease with Jen. I did meet with her for a consult and she seemed very knowledgeable and did understand my issues. So I made an appointment for a color and cut. Once again I was concerned about the color not being right and the cut too short. But I am happy to say Jen got it better than right. I wish we had taken before and after because the change was unbelievable. Haven't looked this good in a long time. Jen is someone who I think you can trust to help you look your best. Can't say enough good things. The salon is very nicely decorated and not at all intimidating as some larger salons are. Will refer some of my mature friends to this Salon. read more

First time not a recommendation from a friend. I saw on Facebook pictures of clients before and after and I was impressed because of the different hair types that she had made look great. When I came my hair was a mess. Jennifer explained what she would do different in her consultation and it was exactly what I wanted without me saying a word. Since then I have been going to her for over a year and my hair has just gotten so much better. In the past, I would go to someone for a long time and they would stop trying to do their best and my hair color would show that. Jennifer also has helped me immensely with my curly hair. This is a true shock. If you have curly hair you understand how your hair is unique to you and it is very hard to find someone who can make it look pretty. In my 41 years, I have never been able to get someone to do it curly until now. Since I trusted her when she recommended products and used them at home on my curly hair, I am truly shocked with how good it looks. Furthermore, when you come into the salon you are treated like a valued customer which is become more of a rarity these days. The employees take your coat, direct you where to go, ask you if you want something to drink. Everyone in the salon acts like a professional and takes their job seriously and the results show. Seeing all the pictures, looks like a very talented colorist at the very least, but I was in need of a cut. Was apprehensive with few reviews for the amount of time they have been at this location, but I decided to walk in on blind faith. I spent a decent amount of time talking with the stylist explaining to her what I wanted done & my concerns because prior to my visit here, someone had gone chop happy with thinning shears who clearly did not have a license to operate. Feeling comfortable that she understood & had a solution, I went ahead with the cut. Big mistake, she only made the problem worse. She was a younger stylist and I don't wanna name names, she may be the bomb to her regulars, but with me she detonated & it showed on my do.
