Jackie is so unprofessional and let me leave after Margaret constantly is late and I said something. they only.put bleach in my hair leaving it brittle and dry. tonight margaret was again a half hour late and they didnt care. when I confronted jackie, she basically told me to take a hike. good luck to them but if you dont do it Jackie's way you're not a good fit. you get what you pay for. cheap is cheap.! I found my new salon! I went in and they knew exactly what they were doing without knowing the entire history of my hair. The woman cutting my hair explained the way my cowlicks were and to what extent I should cut my bangs for quick easy ready styling. She listened to exactly what it was I was looking for and then applied her knowledge in a conversation to reach a conclusion that would best suit me PRIOR to starting the cut. They show you before each cut to make sure the length they are taking off is correct and they will not get "scissor happy". Anytime they are going to take more off than you anticipate, it will not be done with out communicating to you prior. I have been going to a top notch salon my entire life and moved 45 minutes away from it. I needed a good cut and quick. I read the other reviews and figured I would give this place a go... Sorry $100 hair cuts... you've been officially replaced! I have been recommending this place to everyone that has complimented my beautiful layers and just in regular conversation. TRY THIS SALON! I had such a great experience coming here. I reached out via yelp and I heard back the next morning, mind you I reached out incredibly late in the night. I called and they had an availability about 4-5 days later which after reading all the great reviews, I was expecting a much longer wait. I was going to go to Ulta and they didn't have anything available until second week of January. My friend told me to find an actual hair salon and I just so happened to only click on this one on Yelp. Jackie and Margaret were working when I came in. They were both very welcoming and down to earth. Jackie, the owner, was having casual conversations with me about what's on Netflix and life as if she hadn't just met me minutes prior. Margaret is very detailed and it came out absolutely amazing. Went in with my natural dark brown hair and I wanted blonde highlights and some lighter brown added in as well since I wanted a new change. I showed Margaret a picture and she gave me exactly what I asked for. I've had my hair done before with highlights but this is by far the best experience I've had. The price was also much cheaper than I expected it to be. I attached a picture of my hair on Christmas before I got it done (with my dog) and one from last night after I had gotten it done. Worst experience ever. No hairstylist has ever pulled on my hair this hard it honestly felt like she was trying to yank my brain out. My hair looks like someone took a pair of gardening scissors and just chopt it off, I'm so glad I didn't decide to dye it because who knows how wrong that would ha. Worst money spent ever. Response- It's good to know that your lying now. You told me my hair was beautiful not mentioning any damage at all which I am not denying. I never asked for a blowout you just decided on your own to do it. You did not mention pricing before. I have never met a hairdresser that cuts "layers" before cutting the length... after cutting the length off my hair there was no layers. I love how my highlights came out! Margaret was great! Originally I was using box dye and dying my hair dark brown. I had went to another salon to get it lightened and it was multiple colors... Brown reddish orange and some blonde and paid over triple the amount I paid here. I was not happy with my hair at all until Margaret finished. It is absolutely beautiful. The salon was very busy the entire time I was there but from what I noticed everything runs smoothly. What can I say, Jackie is the best. She's a professional who takes pride in her work. She's the only one who has been able to handle my hair which is thick and wavy. I've been to high-end salons only to have them scissor through my hair trying to reduce the volume only to create what I call "helmet hair" or spend so much money for a single process plus try to tip three different people - washing hair, cut hair and then a blowout. Forget all that. Jackie will take care of you but does not suffer fools gladly. Guess there are some who feel entitled and/or have a constant need to be kowtowed to. I was blown away. Every other Salon that I had been to in this area of N.J. made me look like a "50 year old Conservative Suburban Soccer MOM"...... Jackie & Shannon always make me look "Young & Hip". (NOTE: you really should give them a huge TIP for this kind of service, for that LOW of a price). FOR $30.00 TOTAL - you can get your ROOTS colored, a simple trim / cut of your hair, and style / blow out - ALL of that for just $30 !!!!! It's pretty UNHEARD of for anY Salon to offer that, anywhere in the Country, never mind the NYC / Tri-State Area of N.J. Jackie is the owner and Shannon is 1 of the stylists who also does my hair when I go in. Ask for either of them and you will not be disappointed! They use ALL of the professional hair products (I can't remember the name of the line), they're super laid back & very kind & sweet & will get to know you personally, even if you just go in there once a year! (Some years I've been known to do that, just because I'm lazy and it was quicker to color my hair with a box at home...). Anyways, I can't say enough FABULOUS things about this Hair Salon!!! I have no idea why this salon has so many good reviews. Decor is no good, no place to hang your purse?? I apparently got stuck with some new stylist, barely spoke any English, and I only went for a simple blowout. This was easily the most painful blowout I have EVER had. I am not tender headed. I have long hair, and this awful blowout that does not look very smooth or shiny or feel good cost me $40. The most I've ever paid for a blowout. As far as I could tell the only clients were older people. I'm very disappointed in the waste of money, won't be going back, I hope all the hair she ripped out comes back Edit: my hair still feels brittle and not smooth. It always feels smooth after I get it blown out. Maybe it was the mousse they combed in, because no other salon has ever done that for blowing out my hair. They have a nice big couch with a TV and magazines in the waiting area. Justina cut my hair and she is fantastic. She listened to what I wanted and gave me her input if she thought the cut wouldn't work with my wavy hair. In the end I got a great cut for $25. I made an appointment at 10 am for a 12 noon appointment. Making an appointment was so easy and the lady on the phone was extremely sweet. When I arrived at the salon the hairdresser I saw Gosia was extremely nice and very professional. I was really nervous trying out a new place and went based on the reviews on yelp. One of the most amazing salons I have been to. Highly recommended I have found my new permanent salon and hairstylist. All the employees were super friendly and sweet. Yesterday was my first appointment at Hair Couture Salon. I went in for a cut with Margaret and really didn't know how I wanted my hair cut. After a brief consultation Margaret suggested that we cut it to the longer version of what we discussed and if I didn't like it, she would re-cut it. That has never been offered to me before by any Stylist. Within 20-25 minutes, my hair cut looked absolutely amazing. I'm in the beauty industry, and I'm a rather fussy person.....so when I say "amazing" I mean it. She cut my hair effortlessly....she had a game plan from the minute she combed my hair. And, she's a lovely, caring person which made the entire experience very positive. I will be back for all future hair appointments with Margaret. Just to mention - the owner was also very welcoming. Wanted to write an update because I took the plunge and had an ombre treatment done earlier this summer. Gosia (pronounced go-sha) is the only person I'll let near my hair and she did a full ombre treatment at the end of May this year. To say she did an amazing job is an understatement. She took her time on a holiday weekend, using two levels of peroxide and didn't abandon me mid treatment. Nearly 2 HOURS later (yes, I just have THAT much hair) I was walking out with an amazing, I-just-spent-two-weeks-on-a-beach ombre look. Went yesterday for first time and was completely blown away by Jackie! I came in with a picture and explanation of the cut I wanted and she did an amazing job on it! She was fast too.. i was out in an hour and i loved the fact I still had $$ in my wallet. The people here are extremely friendly, and nice. I had Margaret do my hair, and she did such a brilliant job. All I did was show her a picture of what I wanted, and she paid such great attention even to the littlest of details. It came out exactly how I wanted it to be! The cost was amazingly cheap, so I gave her the rest of what I thought it was gonna be in tip. She definitely deserved it, and I know for a fact I'll be coming back here again.
