I recently completed the day Esthetician program and wanted to write a review! I really had a lot more fun than I thought I would doing this program. It's built into two phases with the first being a couple weeks long of learning material and some light hands on training before you can start working with clients. They teach facials, waxing, and anything to beautify the skin (dermaplaning/extractions/chemical peels/eyelash extensions/body wraps/etc.) You are given a full dermologica kit of goodies and pro products for your use only because on campus they have an entire dermologica back bar of which you get your product from for use with any clients you might get. Class is 3x weekly with 2 being in person and the 3rd being remote and those days will focus of theory and coursework. Overall my experience was excellent, they don't "punish" you for being absent and you have more time than your actual grad date to finish if you need to miss class for whatever reason. They also have a great leave of absence policy that made me feel a lot more ready to start the program while also working full time with two young children. I loved loved loved the teachers. Adored them. Ms Julie, ms kelle and ms Kristen are fountains of knowledge and I think the networking from them and fellow classmates already with experience in the industry is an invaluable resource. I'm really glad I chose Milan and I feel very prepared to take my licensing exam and am very excited to start working read more

Milan Institute in Merced california it's not a good place to learn from or get services done as well , basically I was a student there I just graduated so now I can speak the truth but you can only learn at this school if you have the right instructor for example my first esthetician instructor ms Lupe was extremely helping my every step with hands on especially but when we all had gotten into phase 2 we had gotten a different instructor by the name of Ms Dom she wasn't no helpful she wouldn't teach us anyone in the proper way she would have the students do demos when it was the instructora job to do demos not learning students she would just sit on her ass all day long with her partner ms Alicia I remember I was doing a clients lashes and I was already about two hours in still had a lot more to fill in and ms Dom comes to me and whispers to me so the client doesn't hear to not fill in every lashes so they just look full i didn't listen to her because that's not what our clients book for after that I had let everyone know that was not okay so Then more than one student in our class had complained about ms dom and Alicia many times ms dom would proceed to tell us she's not a teacher she an instructor she's here to instruct not to teach that completely caught all of off guard, that made us all feel we wasted our money on this program to be treated like this and thought nothing as we kept complaining they then brought the phase three instructor ms Juli she truly did help us get us all back on track she made sure all of our opps we're completely and our assignments she made sure everyone in class was not falling behind because of our previous instructor ms Juli did help a lot of students believe in them self's again I truly appreciate ms Juli very much. And it upset me to see that ma dom and alicia are still there but not only that they got promotions like that's crazy. They won't let go the most two lazy people in Milan that they promoted them.I have a lot of sad proof of this school being a mafia school just because of two lazy instructors and I will keep reporting this two instructor until they actually teach something or until they get fired because it's really sad to see people say they waste their money on this program because of them. read more

Came at 1:55ish, front desk told us our stylist would be right with us. At 2:09 she said now that we're waiting for stylist to come back from break then at 2:30 my stylist comes just to see me and the. Starts prepping. Meanwhile I'm getting in a verbal altercation with the lobby person because she followed me when I went with my fiancé to show him pictures we picked as inspiration. She told me I'm not allowed to be with him after I had just talked to the dean of the school who said we could (if we wanted) sit together. When I told her that, she said I'm just doing my job (which is fair) but then said I'm not listening to her. I said apparently you don't know the rules cause I'm going off what the head of school told me. After that she walked away and I started talking to the stylist about to cut my fiancés hair when the dean comes up besides me. I think I'm gonna have to talk to her and tell me side of the story but after interrupting me with her presence she just disappears. Like wtf. Also she pulled us in her office when we first came cause the convo I was having with my fiancé back in October made a student cry. When I asked what it was she said no idea. How are you gonna accuse us of that if you don't even know what was said in a conversation I wasn't even having with her. Also how wierd do u have to be to cry over another person's conversation???? Positive admissions experience. Looks to be a broad curriculum of subjects, so something for several different interests. Smaller school gave a personal experience, vs the Ohio State University, where I was 1 of 66,000 students. Lecture hall at Milan included three tables, a few chairs and a projector. The prices seem reasonable. Haven't taken any classes yet, but so far so good! read more

The medical assisting program is great! You have to be willing to put in the work though. Also the staff is always ready to help. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I did the medical assistant program and was taught by Ms.Natalie who was the best! Ms.Becky another staff member was always helpful too. They both helped push me to do better and complete my goals! I can't thank them enough. I also have lifelong friends from attended school here! I highly recommend this school to anyone. read more

I'm going to start off this post by saying that this place is not safe for people with disabilities. I went in for a regular haircut and was then told before my hair cut that I had dandruff.. pretty normal for me considering I have a condition that causes me to pick at my skin(severe). Then another woman comes and then tells me that I have lice. What? I then tell her that she is mistaken and that I just have dandruff(my head never even itches) the only thing she says is that my dandruff is stiff and that is an indicator of lice. So she never saw the "lice" in question, but just by touching my hair can tell that I "have lice" she even said that she could tell that on top of my head I had dandruff but that in the back in one section she believed I "had lice" she never even got a mirror to show me what she was talking about so I could see it for myself. I got pretty vulnerable with her and disclosed my skin picking condition and she went onto say that based on the "evidence" I had lice. Fine, I guess. I went home had multiple people check my hair and guess what? I had no lice. I understand that maybe they are not taught in this institution what a skin picking condition looks like on all skin types, hair textures, people, or at all, but that's no excuse for what happened there today. If you live with a skin condition, or pick your skin like me, or have any other type of disability I would not recommend this place, it would be more worth it to pay a little extra and get your hair cut by someone who probably has more experience with hair than the students/teachers here. read more

I wanted to get a special layered, short haircut. No salon or hairdresser near me understood me, and one hairdresser ruined the cut. Luckily, the instructor on the floor at Merced Milan understood what I wanted and the student following the instructions gave me exactly what I wanted - the best cut ever. My name is Jozlynn, my mom brought me into Milan where she teaches. I have been asking for a wolfcut hair style for awhile and she made it happen yesterday. It was my first time and I was nervous when she said a student will be cutting my hair. I love my hair so going somewhere with unexperienced stylists scared me. My mom told me that the students have to start somewhere and every hair stylist was a student at one time or another, and they have instructors to help when it's needed. So I felt better. My student was Alissa, I hope that is how to spell her name, her teacher was Alley and then another lady that looks like my favorite singer Ariana Grande, I didn't get her name. They did a wonderful haircut and even taught me how to style it which was very nice. It took a long time, but I understand now why and that my mama was right. Alissa was nervous and mom told her to loose the nerves and breath because hair grows back and she expects mistakes because she is learning and it's ok. I could tell that made her more relaxed and she nailed my hair cut. I love it so much and woke up this morning still loving it and playing with it. I can't wait to go back and see Ariana Grande and Alissa. Thank you for making me comfortable and making me look pretty. I forgot to say my mom cried when we got home because I am only 12 years old and my hair makes me look grown up, but it's so pretty. She loves it too. read more

I was on the fence about giving this place 4 or 3 stars, i have been coming here for a few years. I went for my first color, cut, and style special about a year and a half ago. They have always done a good job with my hair, until this last visit. My student was named Amparo and she tried her hardest to make highlights in my dark faded red hair. By the end of the visit my hair had been washed 4 times, bleached 2 times, and toned 3 times. When i left my "highlights" were 3 inches from my hairline and in a straight line across my head, and thats not all. My highlights were orange, and there was more highlight than regular hair. I have revisited to get my hair fixed as per their 7 day garuntee. I got a student named Sara. She changed my hair into healthy. Beautiful balayage highlights that look absolutely gorgeous with no orange to be seen. I have never been so impressed with a student than i am with Sara. I tipped her and i pray she passed her test and goes on to join a nice salon! read more

I went to Milan for the AMA certification and I went during the COVID pandemic. Everything was online and I was a little nervous but my instructor Mrs. K was an awesome help. She guided me through everything and would go over things if I did not understand. She really took her time to help the students understand and always made sure to help the students to catch up on their work. She was very thorough on guidance with the forms we would work on. The career team Mrs. Rowe and Mr. Fernando were also a huge help towards the end of the program. When it came to extern they helped become prepared and answered all my questions. They checked in with me during extern to see how I was. Communication is the key. I ended up getting hired at my extern site because of my performance and professionalism. In the start of the program Mrs. Norma helped by guiding the students how to stick to professionalism and this helped a lot even throughout the program it is reminded. The careers team checks in every month with the classes to see how the students are doing. I like how they are on top of everything and keeping up with the students education. I would recommend anyone to attend this school. read more

I went in to lighten my hair. Sara had excellent customer service and was very professional. Destiny and Nicole helped also because I have very long hair. The students were great and all the teachers kept checking on there work which I liked. They have great prices. You do have to be patient which I had no problem with, I enjoyed talking with the girls. read more

Pedicures are cheap but so is the quality. Paid $13 for a pedicure and it didn't consist of much. Also, the lady got polish all over my toe and didn't even clean it ! Next, half of the polish ended up getting scraped or bumped into and when I wanted it fixed she didn't do anything. My mother was with me and her nails were messed up as well. In the end 3 toes were unpolished all over again. Also there's a very small selection of colors. Don't waste your money coming here. At least not on your nails. read more

After speaking with the store manager, I was promised a correction for this disaster hair color. 2 days later, when I hadn't heard back from them, I called and Emily states she is giving me a refund because my being upset TRAUMATIZED her student?!?! Really? Yes, my husband got upset because this was something to help me ft over a family trauma and for the holidays. This place is run by incompetent instructors and lousy management. read more

What a disaster. DO NOT GO HERE FOR COLOR. I went in with high expectations. I'm naturally a trusting person and was sure the students would do a good job. My student did do a great job (you go Gabby!) and was very friendly. However...the instructor was AWFUL. I specifically asked and repeated it numerous times that I wanted it light ash brown and NOT ORANGE. I provided pictures and examples. He refused to listen to my request and bleach it. Everybody knows that dark colors turn orange when first lightened! This was highly disappointing and I'm ashamed to go to school like this... read more

I made an appt for myself & my daughter yesterday afternoon for their summer special basic pedicure for $10.00 each. We got 2 of their students, Laura and Yoselin, both did an awesome job....My daughter and I left happy with our feet cleaned, soft, and wearing our favorite nail polish...Good job Girls!!! Went for a haircut for my two daughters and ended up getting a cut too. Definitely a learning salon. Mine was just a trim on layers and was ok because mine was cut mostly by instructors, one daughters was just a straight cut and the other was layers and has a definite gap in the back. 19 dollars for all 3 of us. This place is the WORST place I have ever gotten a haircut at. I went in with high expectations, and got the exact opposite. They made me look like I had 2 different haircuts going on. I got my hair cut short. The lady messed up, and had to give me layers. But, they left my hair with long pieces in the back. They literally gave me a mullet. A MULLET!! What the hell?! I went home and cried, and I am not a dramatic person. My aunts had to cut my hair when I got home, to make my hair look a little better. Now, I am traumatized to get my hair cut in the future. Very disappointed in the services. I think I went in with higher expectations than what I should have. I was thinking since the prices for services were only a couple dollars lower than regular salons that the service would be close to that. I was so wrong! The girl who did my service was very sweet she just didn't know what she was supposed to do. There seemed to be supervisors running around all over but not really helping.
