I have been receiving massages at Milan for many years. The student therapists are all near their graduation, and every single massage given by them has been wonderful. And the price is so incredibly low that it's hard to believe, ESPECIALLY when compared with all the hotel spa services and private massage salons in the Coachella Valley. But, today was the all-time best. My therapist, Ashlyn, was simply incredible. A real natural with a great "feel" for her craft. I have received hundreds of massages over the years, but this was one of the very best of all of them. When I checked out to pay, I was met by Heather, who was was extremely professional, personable, and efficient, and booked me next week for my next massage with Ashlyn. I've been a regular customer at the Milan Institute in Palm Desert and have visited approximately 12 times. I've had my hair cut, colored, high lighted, manicures, pedicures, full sets and skin care appointments, and the students have consistently done a wonderful job. My services have always been enjoyable, which is why it's disappointing to write this review. My concern isn't with the students it's with how the advertised senior discount is now being applied. The Milan Institute advertises a 20% Senior/Military Discount on hair, nail, and skincare services. For all of my previous visits, the discount was applied in a way that matched my understanding of the advertisement. However, during my last appointment, I was told the discount only applies to one service on my ticket instead of all eligible services received during the same visit. As a senior on a fixed income, that made a significant difference. My appointments that were typically around $110 increased to more than $160 because of how the discount was calculated. Palm Desert and surrounding areas have a large senior population, and many retirees choose Milan Institute because they believe they're receiving a meaningful senior discount. If the discount is intended to apply only to the highest-priced service on your ticket or only one service per visit, I believe that limitation should be clearly disclosed in the website advertisement so customers know exactly what to expect before booking multiple services. I'm giving two stars because the students continue to provide excellent work, but I want other seniors to be aware that the advertised discount may not be be applied the way they might reasonably expect. I truly hope Milan Institute clarifies its senior discount policy so customers can make informed decisions. read more

Been coming here for a couple years and they just switched to card only without informing me by email or phone number both of which I signed up for. I asked her if I could just pay in cash in an exact amount and I couldn't. Please tell your clients something like that ahead of time I only had cash on me today. I just drove 40 minutes for an appointment and was called just as I was about to pull in to say that they weren't going to be able to honor it. What an incredible waste of time the people I spoke to were very rude. If this is how they treat their customers, I can only imagine what they would have done to my hair. There seemed to be total disorganization throughout the floor and looked like a zoo, where the kids were either talking amongst themselves or just darting "appearing busy" to and from. There is a breath of fresh air recently in the student salon at night. The staff has always been nice, but seemed at times overwhelmed with the student/client to instructor ratio. in my past visit i noticed there was always the time crunch, or strange leaving with wet hair and having to come back the next day. recently i noticed a change, a new instructor on the floor at night.. very confident young lady with blue hair. i was ease dropping on her interactions and she's very glass full type. you can do , yes , you got this.. and she doesn't hover but is conveniently near. im glad to see the school taking a pro active approach in giving the students different teaching styles, and we the clients benefit from it. read more

I scheduled an appointment with them 3/20 for 3/21 @5:45pm. While scheduling the front desk lady even checked to be sure there were no conflicts with my appt.. I received a call 3/21 less than 30mins before my appt. stating they would not be able to service me due to testing. This would have been my first time going but after this experience I will not be trying again. Recently Enrolled to the Esthetician program after 19 years of being in the same industry. I decided to change paths very scary at 36 years of age. Very pleased with Program and the Teaching methods, very hands on after 6 weeks of the course. I am very comfortable with Using all of the dermalogica products that came in our kits. Including using the Microdermabrasion machines, performing chemical peels. If it wasn't for the Staff, Perla, Sylvia, Kat, Diana, Imani and Michele all incredible hands on and involved Teachers, I couldn't imagine myself feeling so confident and comfortable and 100 in my heart knowing I made the right move on changing careers. This School and staff are all so informative and really helpful if you have any questions and they all hold themselves accountable on ensuring that each student gets the education they're paying for and they make it fun. I recommend that if you're looking for a new Career whether it be Esthetics, Cosmo, Barber or Medical assistant you come check this Campus out. Milan institute is a unprofessional and scam school! I do not recommend this place to anyone save your time and money. They are money hungry and give you fake promises all year long. They false advertise! How did I enroll into this program of 9 months. And ended up doing about 2 years in a half !? I started in 2021 and is finishing now in 2023. And still now they are still making mistakes back to back with my extern hours. The school director is a mess and so is the office staff. They talk over you call you to just let you know you are wrong multiple times. Even after you prove them you are not. With screen shots and everything!!! Please take it from me do not go here !! Class of #2022. As a previous student at this school... all I can say is their learning structure CAN be good. Its just the respect and pressure they put on these teachers and students was unethical. Recently graduated. Can say a lot about the place, I came here for my nail technician license and the help I've gotten while being here is such a helpful experience in school and also outside of school anytime off the day they are there to help. Regine is an amazing instructor that has helped me through the rough patches of nails and showing me hands on to understand the concept of how it's applied. Thanks to her I try not to give up so easily and think about what would she say if I walked out of my soon to be career. I can only say so much but I'm thankful for this phase 2 teacher to always show how she does things and too give us a learning chance to grasp the information for our starboard Madison has such a sweet loving attitude even you feeling down to cheer up and talk. I had the worst experience at Milan institute today. i've been going there for few months, it wasn't perfect . knowing it's a school I didn't mind it. but this time they had three new students working on my root touch up and highlights at the same time. Unfortunately the staff never came back to check and see what students were doing. when I called the instructor after 42 minutes, she showed up 5 minutes later and was very rude to me. . I was trying to explain that I didn't want the bleach to damage my hair. so she asked the same students to get towels and water spray bottles without showing them how to do it. They didn't know what they were doing. They have never done it before. my hair was a mess and all tangled. all products mixed up. they called another instructor then the manager they washed my hair and asked me to leave before blow drying it. . btw manager was even worse instead of helping solve the situation, she was yelling at me. And telling me that I was yelling at her. now I know why...when I washed my hair again at home and blow dried it. my hair is all damaged and burnt. I never blamed the students they are learning but staff sucked. I will never go back and I do not recommend it to anyone. read more

Cosmetology graduate! I have learned more in my last 2 months here than the whole year and 3 month that took me to complete my cosmetology program. I had the pleasure to have Ms Ana Deschene and Mr Hazen Mathews as my instructors to guide me my last months on the institute. They have so much potential for this school, however prepare yourself to have 4 mental breakdowns a week while dealing with the management and directors of this school. I'm speaking for most of my classmates, this school doesn't care about us. Every student deserves more that what they give us. They need to talk to each other because some people would tell you something, and other people would say a completely different thing. Shannon, is just too much, I have no idea if it was just with me, but she would always have an attitude, and I'm not the person to say anything back but I WILL act the same way, and she didn't like that. They decide who they want to help, and they know who to treat this way because I wouldn't say a single thing back, but I had classmates with a stronger character and they wouldn't pull this bs on them because they KNEW they would defend themselves. I had instructors come and go every 2 weeks, they can't keep anyone there, because they are so over the way this institute is ran, the problem with us is that there's money on the line, thats why some of us don't leave the school. They held us back sooo much. What a roller coaster I had. If you're thinking of attending to this school, think twice... Ps I wrote this on November 10th, my last day on campus, and I waited to have my certificate because I was scared they wouldn't give me my certificate after submitting this, because they WILL pull bs like that. I have been going to Milan for my haircuts since they were located in La Quinta right across the Walmart shopping center & then when they migrated to the Kohls shopping center in La Quinta as well. I haven't been to an actual salon since then because i am always super pleased at the job these students do! I recently got my haircut at the new PD campus & my hairstylist Teana did an amazing job!! I love her confidence & was very friendly towards me! I also love how the instructors are there to supervise & review the overall look!! read more

I recently graduated from Milan Institute - Palm Desert campus. I enrolled into the RDA program and I can definitely say I'm very happy with my experience while at Milan. All the staff there are wonderful, especially Mr. Alfonso (Dean) and Ms Paula (RDA eve Instructor). I'm now working in my field and I couldn't of done it without all the knowledge Ms Paula taught me, I will forever be grateful for her and the whole Milan Staff. My experience in the RDA program was great! From the instructors, staff and students. The classroom set up is like an actually dental office which with roll play helps you prep your skills for the real office. Ms. Lou Ann the program instructor not only made sure we were taught everything we needed to know but also was full of encouraging words to help us not get overwhelmed by the lectures. Mrs. Terri the program director: patient, organized and super helpful. Until this day, mrs. Terri has helped me stay on track even if I am now a graduate. The staff always greeted me with a smile and answered any question or concerned I may of had. The students also very helpful with the new students. We became a family and kept the vibe of a real office (taking out trash, cleaning instruments, room set ups, etc.) I highly recommend attending Milan Institute! read more

I had a massage from a student and it was better than average. So I scheduled another appointment specifically with this therapist and booked a longer session. I arrived at scheduled time, paid for massage with instructor, THEN was given a different student. I said wait a minute I scheduled with the other student and he said oh she didn't come in yesterday or today and I have had to give her appts to another student. I suggested that he should have called me and given the choice of whether to keep my appointment. I never would have paid for 80 minutes with a therapist I was unfamiliar with. A great disappointment and he didn't offer to comp the appointment or give a discount on a return visit. I won't return! read more

I love these people here everyone of them I'm thankful for all the opportunities and experience I have gained here I'm 23 years old I have three little girls this is an eight month program but it took me years I had so much going on a month before I was going to graduate brightwood college was bought by COD and we all had a choice to continue or drop out I looked to find a school to accept some of my credits and Milan was the one I struggled alot though it was another two years before I was able to graduate(all my fault) but they worked with me and never treated me different I was in the RDA program our director Mrs. Terri is the most realest person I know she won't sugar code anything but shes sweet kind funny as heck but will give you tough love when you need it most I was going to drop out many times I had home troubles and it was no secret I was a mess id cry I'd be tired but let me tell you Mrs Paula made her classes interesting have you ever made the human body of cells skin the ligaments hair and then got to enjoy eating it right after yup we had Jello marshmallows licorice and we formed it to get a better understanding and we got to enjoy it after or when she puts straws and balloons to show you how your lungs work Mrs. Laura she was sweet and kind and took her time to teach us even if we were slower than the rest when you were 10 you would get one instructor unless in my case I had all the instructors because of my previous School I had to switch to whatever class was given they went above and beyond to help me for my education and gave me emotional support even though they don't get paid to do that they know we're human beings and they understand life has problems but we can overcome them and the staff at Milan taught me that specially Mrs. Terri I wasn't going to go get my RDA license because my mom had an accident where she got shot in the head two weeks later my daughter ended up in a bad car accident. 82 stitches to her face and arms I had half custody of my eight siblings but my mom was recovering and my dad was working while I was working graveyards the next month my four-year-old fell ill till this day we're still looking what's wrong with her they're running tests but she's stronger now but I got an email from Mrs Terri she was very understanding she push very hard to get me to get my RDA license she didn't need to it doesn't benefit her and just benefits me for a better future for my family and better opportunities but hello I did it I have my RDA license you guys thank you Milan institute and all the instructors and Mrs. Terri ps. I just finished the Administrative medical assistant program In February 2018 with Mrs. Regina. I have nothing to say but wonderful things about the staff. I never thought I would go back to school at my age (28) with everything going on. - kids, fiancé at home ,life. Everybody was very supportive the whole nine months I was there. From the dean Mr. Alfonso, career services Mrs. Michelle, Mrs. Nancy, Mrs Isabelle, mrs kat, and lastly the most important one who was key to my success is mrs Regina. They believed in my although there where times I didn't and just wanted to give up. When I did I shed school I did not want to leave. I love the staff and broke my heart to do so. I was a student at Milan Institute in the Palm Desert campus and only lasted about 1 month there because I witnessed harassment, discrimination from 1 instructor and classmates to myself and other students. I saw them making fun of another instructor because of her accent and ethnicity. I complained to the administration but was confronted by my teacher and the other students. The administrators didn't handle my complaint correctly, profesionaly and I was accused of over exaggerating. If you are thinking of attending this "school", please be forewarned that they are incredibly difficult to deal with in regards to payments. They seem to care only for cold hard cash and will hound you for payments even when you are on a payment plan and current!! They are rude beyond measure and only want the money. Also, be warned that if the first semester is not paid up, the second semester will be charged as well, so essentially, you will have TWO payments! I have been to this location many times and only once did I get a very new student. Many more times I have had a wonderful experience. The students are professional, the place is clean. You can preface a male or female student. The more advanced students are assigned to more advanced techniques. You are only asked to fill out a form after you are done, to rate your experience, it only takes 2-3 minutes. It is by far easier to get appointments in the summer months. read more
