How is it okay that for the enjoyment of a few, many thousands of neighbors have to endure their noise. Noise pollution, air pollution - an anachronistic business in densely populated areas and times of climate change. The least you could do is mix up your flight paths and sometimes climb towards the East i.e. over I 25. read more

So I did something today. Never thought I'd go through with it. My friend encouraged me so I drove up and got geared up. The drive is pretty closer to the small airport. Parking was plentiful and check in easy. Sign the waivers, get weighed to make sure you don't lie about your weight for plane load calculations. Bathrooms, vending machines and an ATM available. Merchandise for sale as well. Payment was taken in cash. And for the video of your jump there's a discount if you pay with cash. You get on a trailer and driven out to the field location. It's a bumpy ride. You're given a brief tutorial by your licensed tandem instructor and an estimated time when the plane will arrive. Water and porta potties are available while you wait. You get harnessed up and more direction. Get on the plane in the order of jump. The plane was nicer than I thought so that eased some of my fears. Buckle in opposite your instructor and then the plane takes off. When it's time, Rob my tandem instructor told me to unbuckle and sit sideways facing the back of the plane. Then he told me to sit on his lap so he could buckle me to him. As the other skydivers jumped, we scooted towards the door. Then it was my turn. My videographer hung from the door while Rob rocked us back and forth. And then we were out the plane door. I think I said 'oh shit' and then got scared for a moment before I tried to remember Rob's instructions. Arms crossed on my chest, legs bent up behind me and face turned upwards. Then he tapped me on my arm and I opened my arms. What a rush! The videographer filmed us by flying around us. It was something else. She was awesome. Then Rob deployed the parachute and we were now cruising along. I got to guide the parachute and take in the views from above. The mountains were so small from up top and the colors were gorgeous. Rob pointed out the sights we could see. I got a little nauseous from motion sickness when the parachute was turning. Rob loosened the straps a little and we went straight for a bit. It helped. He prepared me for the landing by telling me what would happen and what I needed to do. We landed safely and he unhooked my harness. The adrenaline rush was crazy. I was proud to have conquered my fears and equally glad to be safe. I felt like Rob cared about my experience skydiving and my safety. Never doubted his abilities at all. And everyone was so nice. It was a little cold but he loaned me gloves and I was glad I didn't wear too thick of clothing as I got warm from the experience. They have a comment envelope you can leave your thoughts on and a tip for your instructor in. I didn't know about it beforehand so I had limited cash but I wanted to leave something for Rob to say thanks. Get the video because you won't regret it. It's worth the cost. They do a great job filming it and taking photos and putting the video together. I would recommend this for anyone who has wanted to try it. Just do it and take that leap of faith. read more

Great people and awesome time! I was super nervous but they made the experience as comfortable as it can be and enjoyable. The video and pictures are definitely worth it and I will remember this experience forever. It's dicey to go there when there could be clouds because if there are then you can't go up in the plane, so being patient is essential. It was super scary but such an incredible experience. Not happy. My son made reservations with them he told them his size upfront at time of reservation. He is 6 foot 7 and 270 pounds. There website does SAY if you are more than 215 they may not be able to take you. Well after calling multiple other sky dive places this morning no one will take over 230. They should have told him this UPFRONT instead of getting his hopes up about being able to go and having him show up morning of only to be told he can't go. Rocky mountain sky dive you CAN go FYI if you are a big person you just need to sign up for their first jump course instead of a tandem. Its 5 hours of class and then you go solo and an instructor goes next to you. Its total BS that they even let him make this reservation in the first place. I do not recommend at all. read more

Parachute didn't open properly. Hit a barbed-wire fence post and was severely injured. I was extremely fortunate to survive, to walk again, and that I wasn't impaled by the fence post. There's a Denver Post story from July of 2019 titled "One-third of this year's U.S. fatal skydiving accidents occurred in Longmont. In a lot of dangerous activities, you'll live unless something goes wrong. I'm skydiving, you'll die unless everything goes right. This is NOT the place to skydive. They've had an enormous number of fatalities. I was gonna say that there are safer options, but I'm not sure there are any less-safe options. Oh yeah, if things go wrong, they'll refuse to give you the video you paid extra for. So, that's another thing. They "lost" mine, and claimed I never paid for it and it didn't exist until I found the receipt months later (paid cash for that). It took me a while to find it for what are probably obvious reasons (severe head and other trauma, along with being rather distracted for a while afterward). I don't have many photos of the injuries, but I had a severe concussion, fractured femur, 3 broken bones in my right ankle, dislocated left shoulder, and a few broken ribs. read more

First time skydiving and loved it! They are very professional, the instructor was great and overall I felt very safe skydiving at this center. My only complaint is the wait time to actually jump. They tell you it's about an hour or less but on a Saturday morning, we were bused out to the jump spot and waited way over an hour to get on the plane. Not sure if they were overbooked or if that's just the normal but disappointed waiting so long in the heat. I did have a great time during the jump!! The plane is tiny and they pack you in like sardines and the person I jumped with was very talkative and walked me through everything. Had a great time overall! read more

Kind of hard to find but a cool location. I didn't actually sky dive here but I purchased my boyfriend and his buddy a pass as a birthday gift. They had so much fun! Loved the hang out area before the jump and I mean they didn't die so 5 stars for that haha!! Only gave 4 stars bc they don't allow dogs on the premises and the reaction given. When I was inquiring, one of the ladies, who'm I wasn't even speaking with, jumped into the conversation & got snooty with me (but that's alright.) They probably get bothered with the question a lot. BUT I was in the middle of explaining my dog is actually a certified service dog in training (he just wasn't working at the moment, when his jacket is on he means business) and that I have his license badge, jacket etc in the car and can put him in it! She snapped that the airport doesn't allow any dogs and it's not their policy ... I just moved on from the conversation because I hate confrontation lol. But in case someone from Mile Hi sees this- that's illegal. He's a ADA certified service dog who goes to training 3 times a week to help me with my chronic illness. He can legally come ANYWHERE with me. I'm sure she didn't know so no hard feelings but just for the future that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

Mike-Hi Skydiving Center exceeded all of my expectations. My brother, Dad and I came from across the country to skydive for our first time over the Rocky Mountains! I had no idea what to expect from the experience, but suffice to say I was a liiiiiiittle nervous. All my fears went out the window when we were linked up with our tandem skydiving instructors! I made the mistake of choosing to go skydiving. My instructor as we were coming in for a landing told me to land on my butt. I'm 6-2 and 220. I am taller and weigh more than my instructor. When I landed I landed hard on my butt and have had problems since. Don't know why this advice was given. I saw much older people landing soft on their feet. Work mistake going to Mike High Skydiving. I must have got the incompetent instructor. Will never go skydiving again. read more

I've gone skydiving tandem twice here (my husband as well). We both had amazing experiences both times we went. I was very nervous, the first time especially, and was put to ease almost immediately when I met the person I would be going tandem with. They were knowledgeable and explained the whole process to me. They answered every question I had and seemed very experienced. I was given a lot of great advice and knew exactly what to do and what to expect. Both jumps went perfect and we had great landings both times. I was given the option to pull the chute, steer while we were in the air, and do some flips. My first jump I paid for the video and love the video/photos I received!! Told my parents I was heading to a job interview at the Broadmoor Hotel, and instead went here! lol, Oh shit was it fun, guides were great, and had a wonderful time! This was my second jump, and the free fall (at least 35) seconds was longer and better than the first place I went. Highly recommend to anyone who is an adventure/thrill seeker. You only live once, just fricken go! I'm still living off yesterday's high from jumping with 5 friends to ring in another birthday. I selected this place based on reviews & recommendations from others. You really need to make a reservation and they take a credit card to hold your spot. They worked with me as my party grew & then shrunk. If you pay cash versus credit card they take off $10; which paid for my cab rides out last night. We got there on time and after signing our life away we waited... and waited... They told me that depending on the number of people who sign up the entire experience can take 2-4 hours. We waited till for 2 hours and then 1/2 of our names were called. They didn't have enough instructors to take all 6 of us together. Once we got in our jump suite and harness on it really sinks in. My instructor, Byode, came over and introduced himself and we talked about how we will jump out of the plane for maybe 3 minutes and then we loaded on to a truck and were driven out to the plane. Friends can come along to the take off & landing site to take pictures which is cool. So, we get on the plane and 15 minutes later we are jumping out and it was awesome! It was the biggest rush ever and I ski really really fast. This topped my fasted skiing adrenalin rush ever! If you are debating on skydiving just do it! No regrets at all. On a personal note... I will mention that I had a nice size not to heavy breakfast at 10.30 and jumped on an empty stomach at 4 which was the right choice. Couldn't imagine jumping with food in me. Now, afterward I came prepared with Champagne & brownies at my car for all of us. read more

I decided there was no way I could do this the morning I was supposed to go skydiving. I wanted to watch my husband do it through, so I sat in the waiting area while he filled out the clipboard full of paperwork (which I imagined had clauses stating that they weren't responsible for your untimely death), and tapped my feet and chewed my nails anxiously. "What would it be like being widowed at 29?" I thought. Then, on the sound system, they started playing music: One Republic's "This is the Good Life,"and my thoughts turned to, "I bet I'll regret this if I don't go. This could be awesome." Just as the song ended, and I noticed I had ten minutes before take-off, and maybe the last chance to change my mind, I mean, when were we going to do this again? A man in his mid fifties approached me, who clearly worked there. He said, "It looks like you're conflicted." Story of my life, buddy. "Yeah, I am. I'm scared, but I think I want to try this, but I'm not sure." He smiled reassuringly, took a seat next to me, and talked me through the process of skydiving, and told me if I wanted, he would jump with me. His fatherly assurance and protection made me feel much more secure than the dudes we were jumping with who seemed to me to be extras from Jackass. No, I needed to feel safe; Not dared. I felt totally secure with him, and so I said, "Let's do this!" It was one of the most thrilling and exciting experiences of my life! I don't regret for one minute having done it. That high adrenaline rush while looking out of the plane before free-falling is then proceeded by a feeling of total peace when you are floating in the sky-looking all around you at the beauty one can only see from 12,000 feet in the open air. I've said for many years that I've wanted to try it, and I've kept putting it off until now. I searched online for local SkyDiving Companies and sorted through reviews and prices and decided that I liked Mile High the best. Which for me was odd, because I typically don't buy the "we're the biggest and best" bull. But I overlooked that pompous company attitude because I felt what they had to offer was reasonable. I scheduled my dive for 11am Sunday July 5th. I checked in and got settled in. The check in staff was super friendly and very easy going. After checking us in we took a ride out to the training hanger to get suited up and meet our instructors. After getting to the hanger we had about an hour wait, which I thought would be boring. It wasn't! We got to sit and watch airplanes land and take off, along with watching divers land. Truly awesome. It was my turn and I heard my instructor call my name. I got suited up and harnessed up. My instructor was Brian. He went over the briefing and addressed any concerns I had. He was very friendly, super positive, and greatly knowledgable. I was ready. I felt comfortable. I then got introduced to Travis, my cameraman, did some shots before the plane departure. Man was I excited. We got in the plane, did our jump. What an exhilarating experience. After landing both Brian and Travis congratulated me on my first jump. I couldn't have been more excited. I had a truly incredible experience and a lot of it was thanks to Brian and Travis. They are 2 guys who love what they do, and that shows. I definitely hope to dive with them again and I plan on taking the solo diving courses soon. I was very hesitant to take time out of our Colorado vacation to take our son to sky dive. However, after our experience, I'm glad my son had this opportunity. His jump exceeded his expectations! He had a blast. The staff was very friendly and answered all of my questions. I enjoyed chatting with several staff members while we waited for the winds to decrease. WORST experience ever ! If I could leave a NEGATIVE 5 Star review, I would. I was given a tandem skydive as a birthday present from my parents, a couple of weeks ago. I scheduled the event, but the day before I was in a car wreck, and my injuries prevented me from being able to do the skydive. I called Mille-Hi to see about rescheduling, and they told me that since it was my fault for not showing up, I would forfeit my skydive, and all they offered as compensation was a 10% discount on my next skydive. WTF -- I didn't just decide not to show up -- I COULD NOT show up, as I was on crutches. And they took my mom's money, and offered me nothing but a sharp stick up the A$$ in return. What total jerks. I will NEVER, EVER do business with these people again. Frank Casares is the worst kind of person -- I total jerk, and an uncaring, greedy, heartless A$$HOLE. On top of that, he does everything in his power to break every rule he can, just to be a pompous A$$ !!! Check out Mile-Hi's customer feedback here, and on other review websites -- you'll see how many totally piissed off customers they have. And then go look up the number of lawuits he has -- most of which are for not complying with airport regulations, or for intentionally annoying local residents, of for failure to adhere to city/county laws and regulations. You'd be better off jumping out of an airplane WITHOUT a parachute, than doing business with this piece of $HIT company !!! read more

Fantastic first tandom skydiving. Went with a little encouragment from my friend. The whole experience was awesome. Made reservations for a tandom jump with video. Well worth the price. My expert John kept it calm and entertaining on the flight up. Travis took some great shots amd video tape. Cant wait to see the results of the jump. So I wasn't nervous when they said step to the door. Quick jump and then bam it was the coolest feeling. Like levitating on air over the rockies. Loved it. One minute free fall with a flip and some spins then whoosh the shoot opens and you take another 7 or 8 minutes of gliding to a pinpoint smooth landing. I would recommend it to everyone. Thank you to the Mile-Hi Skydiving Center, all of the instructors, and the various Veteran related nonprofit organizations that put together a wonderful day of skydiving for fifty five military veterans and family members earlier this month. All of the instructors were friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced. If you're the type of person that expects to get to know a person before getting all up in their personal space -- sitting in their lap, clipping yourself to them, and flinging yourself out of an airplane at 12,500 feet -- well, you're in for a surprise. If you're lucky, though, you'll wind up with a fellow sarcastic smartass for an instructor to put your mind at ease and share in your amusement at the awkwardness of it all. After watching each of the instructors jump a dozen or more times throughout the day prior to my jump like it was no big deal, I found myself both impressed and jealous that each of them have managed to turn what most likely started as a hobby into a career that they love. If you've always wanted to go skydiving, definitely consider entrusting the instructors at the Mile-Hi Skydiving Center with your first jump. Step outside your comfort zone; choose to get this experience videotaped so you can laugh at yourself after the fact in all of your awkward screaming, fish out of water glory; strap yourself to a stranger while wearing a fairly unflattering onesie; and go get the closest you'll ever come to flying. It was an unforgettable experience, and one my husband and I look forward to repeating. read more

I want to make it clear that my review is 100% not based on any skydiving experience or the lack thereof. That being said, I had friends from out of town and we decided that we wanted to all go skydiving for the first time together. We called and made the appointment ahead of time for June 20. We got there, went through the check-in process, filled out all of the paperwork, and paid cash for our jump. After this, we were informed that there was only one camera guy available and since two of us had paid for the camera package we would have to jump separately, as in from two different planes on two different trips. This was disappointing because the point was in us doing it together, but we weren't about to back out, so we agreed. A bit later they informed us that they had found a second camera man so we could all go together, however the girl at the desk discussed her hesitation on sending this guy out to the other women working there, loudly enough for us to hear in the waiting room. I have no idea why she didn't want to send him, if he was a bad cameraman, if he was in time out for behavior and she didn't want to pay him for the jump, or what. They took us to the field to gear up, and we were put on a weather hold. We sat there waiting for the weather to clear for a couple of hours with 20+ people who made us feel like outsiders, and then they called it. We went back to the office and they offered to reschedule us for first thing the next day, so we took them up on the offer. The next day there was another weather hold, and they offered to let us go do something and they would call us if the weather cleared. The weather never cleared and my friends were going back home the following day, so we requested a refund so we could go and do something else with the money. We were told we should have got a refund the day before since we paid cash, which they didn't bother to mention at the time, and that they would have to mail a check. So not only were we disappointed that we couldn't jump, my friends had $600 tied up in something they could no longer participate in, and didn't have the money to replace that missed experience with anything else. THEN we didn't receive our refund checks. I had to call in to the company several times, to the point of being annoying and possibly a little rude, for them to finally send out the checks. It took them nearly a month to refund the money (July 13) and I finally received my check today (July 17). read more

Yesterday I completed my first skydiving experience at Mile-Hi skydiving center. What and INCREDIBLE experience! At first I wasn't sure I liked how hands off everything seemed to be (no real training or safety videos) .. but after meeting my instructor, Daniel, he displayed so much confidence and gave me brief instructions as not to overwhelm me but ensure I did everything safely. Daniel was amazing! He even did back-to-back jumps with other jumpers while I believe I was the last one in his day, and yet you'd think I was his only jump of the day with how enthusiastic he was. He did a wrist video of my experience and made sure he caught all my exciting moments. Will DEFINITELY be joining Mile-Hi Skydiving Center again for my future jumps!! read more
