This review is ONLY for the 16950 W Colfax Ave #107A, Golden, CO 80401 location. I went to take my…read morescheduled driving test at this location. Sat in the lobby waiting for my appointment to come up. In walks the instructor "Thomas" with a younger kid who was the appointment before me, he walked in with a smile and said to the kids mother "He failed, would you like me to tell you why? Then listed off 10+ reasons such as being 1mph over the speed limit and not stopping long enough at a stop sign. I knew I was in for it at that point. We got into my vehicle and I told him I had to start it via interlock device first...then he marked his clipboard. Told me to make a left turn, id signal to make a left turn then get criticized about my speed, hand position on the wheel, etc. Id even say "okay" to agree and then get told not to speak at all during the test. Then we drove through a school zone, no flashing yellow light was on or blinking and there wasn't a person in sight so I followed the speed limit sign 30mph and then he told me "well that law violation will cost you the test" and then I said there was no blinking yellow light indicating to slow down to 20mph and he rose his voice and we began to argue. I told him he was very unprofessional and I would like to conclude the test now and I drove back to the golden location. Then he says would you like me to tell you why you failed the test? I said you probably wouldn't care to hear my response back to you and he exited the vehicle. So I payed another $80 and made an appointment at the Lakewood location 2 days later. My instructor this time was the lead supervisor. He was great. We talked as we drove, I followed his commands just fine and followed all instructions, and didn't get yelled at or criticized the entire time. We got back to the Lakewood location and he told me I passed with a "7". And I got my license the same day. Community Driving School is great, wonderful alternative to the DMV for testing! THOMAS you should consider working at the license bureau printing license plates. If you're trying to get your license AVOID the golden location at all costs. Instead go to any other of the community driving school locations. Thomas - no stars Lead supervisor - 5/5

My son has been attending the Drivers' Education course during winter break. During a class (day…read moreafter Christmas) he had put his head down during a video and fell asleep, the owner of the Driver Education Academy, Carlos "Charlie" Torres, slammed his fist on his desk and told him to wake up or he can get out of his class. My son apologized and Charlie awhile later proceeded to put him down in front of the classroom. He started by criticizing his appearance and telling him he would never find a job because of how he looks. He then asked for a show of hands as to who actually liked him. No one raised their hand because he does not know anybody in the class. Charlie then told him, "See no one even likes you, your mom should've had an abortion when she was pregnant with you." He also said, "You should get a rope and go hang yourself now." I am still in shock that the owner o...f a so-called professional school would act in such a way towards a teen student and say such an inappropriate statement in front of a whole classroom. Especially with everything that has been going on in our society. I called Charlie when my son told me about what he told him and he apologized and offered to refund my money. He did not deny the accusations and apologized for as he put it "his harsh words". I went to the driver academy to collect my refund last night where Charlie apologized again and said it was all in jest. I am sorry but there is no jest when you are telling a teenager to hang them self. I am sharing this story with you to expose the behavior of this owner that has been left in charge of our teenagers very influential young minds. He should not be allowed to be around with impressionable teenagers. There is no excuse to tell anyone, especially a teenager, they should go kill themself. Bullying from child to child is bad enough, we cannot tolerate a grown man displaying these tactics!

To provide additional perspective to the statement below. I know of one student who witnessed the…read moreevent, on which he indicates did not occur exactly how the prior comment portrays. As for my own two children, both indicate that while the instructor has a sharp tongue at times, in their view he was all together lighthearted, engaging, and offered a caliber of information and experience that prepared them as responsible drivers. In fact, following their completion of the course my children are now so knowledgable behind the wheel that they often critique my driving! In all, my children reflect upon a positive experience, indicating that the instructor's tough exterior stems from a reasonable expectation that students remain attentive as well as respectful -- being that driving is an activity that impacts many if treated irresponsibly -- and he will respond in kind. As I have always told my now college educated children, experience is based upon what you put into it.

We enrolled our granddaughter for the winter driving class. Watch the videos on the Internet and…read morethe experience was nothing like that at all. There was no "slick track" they watered down some asphalt and let them slide a little bit, but there was no real simulation of driving on ice or snow. Extremely disappointed! Do not recommend them at all.

This company exceeds in teaching their students about how to be a safe driver. But, as someone who…read moreis on the spectrum that needs structure; Master Drive falls short in that field. Having to schedule driving lessons with them is an ABSOLUTE PAIN because their lessons are MONTHS OUT and at odd times, which is an absolute inconvenience. Just to add more salt to the wound, they expect you to pay for three driving lessons for their standard package which does not help you with their driver's test in anyway. Oh? Do you want better results behind the wheel with our premium package? TOO BAD! It costs 1,000 dollars. I wish they could give you more time behind their wheel because driving in an unfamiliar car where you don't know how the car handles isn't a fun experience. And don't get me started with the cars! The floorboards are caked with dirt, the seats inside of the cars are worse for wear, and I've gotten a comment from my teenage brother who's also a student at Master Drive that the Kia Soul that he drived smelled like sweat. The cars that they expect the students to drive don't handle very well especially with the breaks being very spongy. As a driving school that pride's itself for safety, you'd expect them to maintain their cars. NOPE! Their cars are terribly maintained. Take your business somewhere else unless if your okay with a being handed a booklet and a pat on a back that says " We're not going to teach you. You should do our job for us " because this school does not engage with you in anyway with their instructors. Yes, parental guidance is important for driving. But, the instructor needs to also be in the picture creating a personalized plan for their student. Which Master Drive does not with only three lessons in their standard package. Driving students need more time to drive with instructors that want to help their students and be supportive to help them become a safe driver. Protect your pockets people! Find another driver's school or teach your student yourself!
