They NEED to control that parking lot. A lot of people parking aren't even going there and take up majority of the lot. They're a good place to go to on a weekend once in a while. They have a large variety of plants. I've gotten vegetables plants and other floral plants from here. I can't say if they're expensive or not. They seem to be prices fairly. I never used their florist. Looks like They hire the young folk in the neighborhood which is nice give them a job. It's not easy to get help though when you're outside. We were relatively late getting a Christmas tree this year, but Garden World had about 100 left. We walked in and weren't offered any help, which was a little strange. Maybe because it was cold. We tried finding our own tree, and the ones that are left are just ok. But they'll do the trick. After asking for help, someone came to help us pick a tree and prepare it to take home. We paid $70 for a 6 1/2 foot Frazier. It hasn't sucked up any water in over 24 hours. Bummer. Probably not GW's fault, but I'm just hoping it lasts to Christmas. Then I entered a garden oasis full of gorgeous plants I bought a Anthirium and Snake plants to commemorate my husband who passed a while and it was our anniversary. Update- I had an event and wanted hydrangeas for the center pieces. I went to garden world on Saturday morning and they had 8 big and absolutely stunning hydrangeas bouquets (baby's breath and greenery included!) finished by Saturday evening. They were packed very neatly and conveniently for transportation too. The service was amazing, as the florist made a sample one for me to see what it would look like. The value was good- not "cheap" but definitely not as expensive as other places in bayside. 10/10! read more

Enjoyed looking around this shop. There are varieties of Christmas trees , wreaths, holiday centerpieces , holiday decors selections on their yard . The staff is ready to help if needed one. Twice in one week, I was told that they have a plant that I called about and when I went out of my way to go there immediately they say oh no sorry we don't have any of them. I really do love Garden World! We've bought plants here from their greenhouse and we got a bunch of our Christmas stuff here too for 75% off. In addition, they have Groupon deals and you can stack the discounts too. Today, I bought over $340 worth of Lenox Christmas ornaments for $68. We also got our 7.5 feet per-lit Christmas tree (retail at $500 for $120). I've once considered buying their orchids as my centerpieces for my wedding but decided to go with a cheaper alternative. The four season florist is attached to garden world and they did an excellent job on my wedding flowers. The staff are super friendly and helpful and they have a wide selections on plants. Garden World is a good place to make a quick stop to get your home and garden necessities. They also have a flower shop but the customer service is lacking. The floral prices are higher than normal. I came to get some ice melt which were ($20) plus tax per bag. They have Pelodow Calcium Chloride Pellets ice melt which worked effectively in clearing out my driveway and getting my car out of a foot of snow. read more

A mainstay in the community, this garden center used to be on about a B- level. No longer. I just recently visited this establishment twice during the past week. Prices are ridiculous and many of the staff seem quit displeased to be employed there. Most importantly, at least to me, the stock was very poor on each visit. Over a third of the space devoted to vegetable plants was empty!! I will have to travel farther to purchase what I need. Unfortunate. read more

I have to say, I began looking into a tribute tree just before Covid and wound up coming home with something that just made me sadder. I thought it was hopeless though between the money coworkers had chipped in specifically to this Gardenworld to give me this tree even though I lived out on the island, Covid lockdowns and supply issues everywhere, and finally a mix up in the type I brought home but I wrote Gardenworld anyway hoping maybe something could be done. The owner responded to me with such interest and empathy and integrity! He said he just wanted to make it right. He found me exactly what I was looking for, worked so quickly within my schedule, and even planted it for me! I now have what I'd envisioned within a week of writing an email! From outdoor perennials to indoor succulents this place has something you'll like plant wise I'm sure. I recently had to replace 3 houseplants the mysteriously turned brown.. ok they died. I also was curious about the health of my snake plants so I questioned the young store representative there who diagnosed my issues immediately and made me feel like a doofus and amateur plant parent. This place has a pretty good outdoor variety of plants but the indoor section is pretty limited. It's a great place to check out their inventory and sometimes they have some great plants but it wouldn't be my first choice place to go. It's also on the more expensive end, so if you're looking for roses and basic herbs, I'd actually recommend Home Depot which is usually cheaper. Service is decent and the staff is usually helpful. But in the spring & summer time, this place can get pretty busy. read more

Garden World was a large part of my childhood before we left the state. We would often make a stop in when visiting or driving past our old house. Knowing they were family run always made it a good thing to support, even when prices were higher and access was more difficult than our other options. When my parents suggested a drive there for plants as a housewarming, I was genuinely excited! The store had a great selection and many options making choices difficult. Our entire 40+ minute shopping experience left us searching our phones for instructions, care and toxicity information as there was no staff in sight in the greenhouse the entire visit. Once home, plants were positioned for best light and set up. Friends and guests were immediately gravitating toward them and complimenting. One plant was an unexpected gem, blooming and flowering more brilliantly that I could have imagined--it still looks great! The other seemed fine at first but within weeks, despite rotation and regular, even watering turned crunchy and began to disintegrate. The leaves came out in chunks and within days just stalks were left. After a thorough branch check, I had to call it. Although expensive, I couldn't chance this diseased plant infecting the rest of my houseplants. I took more photos, and contacted the store. In my call, it was confirmed that I had the right light, and that the watering regimen was correct. I agreed to send photos and background; the woman made a suggestion that they might provide a 6" replacement although my original was a 10" pot. Three days later, the return email said that the greenhouse manager does not guarantee their plants. After more than half a century in business one would hope their policies would be established and not by the seat of their pants. A review of their website heralds that their "employees are knowledgeable and trained to provide the best assistance possible," that they provide top-notch products. In this case, given the itinerant policies and diseased plant, I would strongly disagree. After a defective $60 purchase I was offered a one-time 20% discount to go through it again. This review is for Fall festival. I brought my 3 & 6 yrs old for their annual 3 days Fall Festival. No major changes compared to last year. Free admission. Tickets are $1.25 each or 20 for $25. It has Two big bouncies ( 2 tickets ea ), 5 carnival rides ( 3 tickets ea), petting zoo (Free. $1 feeding cup), one minute train ride ( 3 tickets, take you around a decorated path), pony ride ( one minute, $7), horse carriage ride $7, arts and craft such as stuff a bear, pumpkin painting and coloring t shirts, from $7-$10. Sand arts $3-$5, win a gold fish $1 for 4 balls. Two free decorated scenes for picture opportunity, one is pumpkin/ fall, one is scary witch/skeleton. Free fenced in small pumpkin patch for photo opportunity. Many inflatables to take pictures. Pro: - location in the city. Don't have to drive far to farms. - some free activities - next door is HMart and Dunkin' Donuts Con: - pricey. $20 gone in 15 min for two kids for ticketed activities. And no pony ride yet. One star deducted for price. -Horse carriage and pony rides through the people path. Staff always have to yell, 'horse coming! Clear the path!!' One star deducted for safety. - goats were out in small fenced petting zoo. Bunnies and other small animals were in pet carriers, not even a cage. Hard to see them. - not many food vendors. I saw hot dogs and pasta. Conclusion: Yes. I will return next year since it's close by. It does have free activities such as decorated scenes, pumpkin patch, and small, real small petting zoo. Do talk to the kids about budgeting before arrival. Or offer to take them to Dunkin next door if they behave and listen. read more

I visited this establishment on 5/27. After a trip to Hmart I decided to come check out this flower shop. I just bought a new house so I wanted to redo some of the landscaping. It's a cute shop overall and convenient since I live in Bayside but I don't think I'll come back again due to the poor customer service. I had groceries in my stroller like Asian soups and I was accused of taking something and not paying for it. A older blonde women gave me a nasty look and looked through my items and walked away. No I'm sorry or anything. As a person of color I don't feel comfortable coming back again. Like I would seriously steal a plant with my baby in the stroller. I feel disrespected and violated. It would have been nice to support a local business but I'll stick to Home Depot which has better prices anyway. read more

You lost me as a customer. As a Queens resident I have patronized Garden World as my first go-to nursery for close to 40 years. On April 18 I bought mature hanging plant. Despite caring for it, watering, sun, plant food....it continued to dry, die and wither. I took it back to ask for a replacement and Wanted to buy more as the weather has warmed up. I was told there is no guarantee or exchange policy for plants. I would call this very poor customer service for a loyal customer. I would also say that for a $34.98 exchange this was penny wise and pound foolish on Garden World's part. REALLY disappointed!! read more

been coming here since the 80s. Was always one of the most expensive around, prices continue to increase with inflation, but the lasting quality has been worth it. Asked for a daisies in mid-May- I was literally 1-2 weeks too early and the lady out in the "bedding flowers" spoke to me in a sarcastic manner like I was some piece of garbage. I even complimented and said you have so much great stuff already and she gave me this tone like I am some crazy person thinking they have daisies already. I am a young looking 40 year old that can pass off as 20 in sweats. That still leaves no reason to talk down to me like I am beneath you.. We are all tired at work but you don't know who you are talking to sometimes and how much $$ they spend in your store every year and how many generations of the family shops there. So have some more respect. Also to the man in the inside with the special events section- seriously watch your attitude because everyone can see and hear you. Yes that is a nice store but you people are a bit too full of yourselves and need to tone it down. At this point in the economy, gardening that is not for food but for decor, and floral arrangements are a luxury so seriously calm down and be nice. The most courteous employees are at the register and it is too bad they don't know much about what is being sold to help out in the flowers and trees. read more

I love this place, and will travel all the way out to Queens to buy flowering plants that are not overfertilized (like you will find in Home Depot in the city). Usually I will grab some Chinese pastry on the way through Main St. as a bonus. It's always a pleasure to shop here, casually strolling through their lot full of greenery. There are are large plants, trees and shrubs for those blessed with yard space, and smaller container plants for us window garden types...and if you are lucky the Green Man may emerge from between the leaves to share his wisdom (aka Charlie, this is the guy who can tell you anything you want to know about botany). There is a florist inside, indoor plants, and many gardening supplies. H Mart is right next door, to serve all your Asian grocery needs. read more

Had the absolute worst experience today! I have been coming to GW for many years, even before it moved to this location and it was called Kiel brothers. My family, extended family and friends have supported this establishment and have bought so many wonderful items. After today's inexcusable rude experience I will no longer support them. Bringing my business elsewhere and telling every single person I know. Even if I have to travel much farther to get what I need. You would think if you call for an item and they tell you they have it they would've communicated to the other parts of the store and to their employees. The run around I had to do on top of being yelled at by the lady in the front garden area was absolutely appalling!! Disgusting! Get it together Garden World! This place has really changed since the 1980's and 90's..They have become more of a craft and florist shop than anything else..the prices are 4 times higher than Home Depot..the stock is very limited and the selection of outdoor plants is down to the common type. I I bought a plant about two months ago from there. Last night I realized it's covered in bugs. I go to the store to ask if I can get a return or exchange. They tell me their store policy is 30 days, which I completely understand. My issue is when the worker (I think her name was Rachel or Rebecca) told me that if there is bugs on the plant, it is bugs that I got from my house and not from their store. And even though none of my plants are infected and only the one plant I got from their store was, she accused it of being my fault. So I proceeded to go to their greenhouse and find TONS of bugs across their plants. Customer service was terrible and I don't recommend going here. If you like being accused of infecting your plant, then this is the place for you. (Also I almost tripped on wet floors twice and there was no caution sign). NEVER GO HERE. read more
