Tim was nothing short of professional, we seriously could not have asked for a better person to help us with this. He worked with us every step of the way, keeping us updated on everything he was doing, making sure we stayed within our budget, and completing the job in a timely manner. He also made great recommendations for the hydroseeding company and nursery we used to finish everything off. Wow...I had the most amazing experience with TIm and his workers. He worked with me from the beginning explaining the whole Septic process. I'm amazed at some of these reviews because he demonstrated nothing but professionalism, knowledge and he was very patient with my lack of knowledge throughout the whole process. I actually overheard the Health Inspector complimenting him with doing a very nice job on his other project that he was working on at the time. As far as I'm concerned any time an official has a good rapport with a construction worker you must be doing something right. I loved working with these guys and I highly recommend him and I see his trucks everywhere so apparently the couple of bad reviews he got are relative to the amount of work he is doing. The best thing I ever did was contact Miles Of Excavating. Tim, the owner, contacted me back right away and was looking at my problem ASAP. I unfortunately was left with an emergency situation at the house I had just bought and was having a major problem with back up into my house. Tim and his guys assessed the situation and took care of the problem. It was not the quick fix I was hoping for. It took time and a lot of quality work. They were very informative with everything and extremely knowledgeable. It's very refreshing to come across a company that is so professional and really cares about what their doing and the people their helping!!! You don't find that all to often anymore. It is with much dismay and frustration I have to sit and write this review. I do not write these often, however, we feel it's necessary to highlight the horrific experience we have faced! I would highly suggest that no one ever uses "Miles of Excavating" of Wrentham, MA for ANY service work whatsoever. We had hired this company for a new septic system on a house that we were selling. "Miles of Excavating" of Wrentham, MA had over two-months advance notice to complete the work (ample time in our estimation, as well as the owner guaranteeing it would take only 4 days when we were ready), and the company waited until the last minute to begin, and with that, several issues arose. The owner is completely unprofessional, immature, and has had an extremely toxic work ethic and attitude. After leaving several messages for the owner, this person blatantly never returned our calls. We felt ignored and neglected from a vendor we had hired. Further, in demonstrating his unprofessional behavior, this person hung up the phone on us while we were trying to have a conversation. The owner assaulted us verbally and left us emotionally distressed. This entire experience has been infuriating! The owner also threatened to leave the job multiple times (waking us up at 6:30/7:00 in the morning), as well as holding hostage the "Title V" over our heads, like a ransom situation! Are we in a movie?! Again, demonstrating his complete lack of professionalism. Because of the company waiting until the last minute to proceed, we had to delay our closing to the following week, leaving the buyers homeless and us having to wait additional days to close on the home, paying taxes for an additional week. Their negligence is not only costly, burdensome, but left many parties involved scrambling at the last minute. Don't be fooled! I would never recommend this company to anyone. I hired miles of excavating to do a septic for a title five. The owner got right back to me with his quote and after looking at a couple of them I decided to hire him. All in all it took three weeks to complete, with the weather being the setback. Basically took four days to get the system done and signed off on. He even went above and beyond and did many extras which he did not seek any extra charges from me. I felt his work was great and he was very fair. A friend called him on an emergency septic call, (a system in which he did not do the original install) but came and fixed her problem right away so not to cause any damage. Even getting inside the septic tank fixing the pump switch. That's going the extra distance in my book. I can't understand the negative reviews people....perhaps there were problems with the plans, or engineers or a number of other factors, but to be "emotionally distressed" sounds a bit much. I will continue to refer Miles of Excavating to anyone looking for septic installers. read more

My wife and I recently bought a house in Franklin, MA. Prior to closing, the sellers were required to replace the leach field in order for its septic system to pass Title V inspection. They contracted with Miles of Excavating and the entire process suffered for it. At first Tim Konowitz was friendly and eager to take on the job. His on-site consultation was positive and he even offered to have his crew clear some overgrowth adjacent to the project site. Tim said the job would take approximately 5 full work days. Since they were slated to begin work during the week of 15 June we were all hopeful to close prior to 1 July. However, project did not finish until 24 July - six weeks after the halted start. As a result we lost thousands of dollars and our mortgage rate. My wife and I were living at the property during at the time, so we observed the work at close range. During four of the six weeks of work there were days in which Tim sent a single employee to work on the site for minutes, move equipment, and leave the site. We witnessed this on two occasions and our next door neighbor confirmed other instances, as well. I saw Tim on site twice - the first of which he was dismissive and curt. On two occasions my wife and I were compelled to take time off from work so that the house could be open; he needed access so an electrical connection could be fed from our basement. Tim told us - through an intermediary - what day the work was to be done. When I took my day off the subcontracted electrician arrived only to find that Tim's crew had not done the prerequisite work. Another day of progress - and work time - was for not. When discussing the tempo of the project with Tim's employees on site, one mentioned that Tim chose to direct resources away from our site in order to begin work on new projects. This was despite agreement amongst the group that all work should be devoted on our project until it was complete. Once the work started Tim became very difficult to communicate with. By the third week of the project he would rarely return phone calls and only seemed to respond to texts. Even that correspondence was unhelpful. When I asked him to provide an update to me as well as other contributors to the project (eg. engineer on the project, town board of health, etc.) his response was, "Don't worry this isn't my first job." Tim Konowitz is one of the most unprofessional people I have encountered and our experience with Miles of Excavating was remarkably unpleasant. Tim dismissed the importance of customer satisfaction, communication, timelines, and promises. He was rude, difficult to deal with, and failed to volunteer any updates during a project that lasted six times its estimated length. When speaking with the engineering firm that recommended him it was indicated that they would remove Miles of Excavating from their lists. I can only hope that people avoid Miles of Excavating. read more

I am shocked to see some of the negative reviews left here for Miles of Excavating, specifically calling out Tim & Corey! Surely these reviewers are leaving negative comments with ulterior motives as that is not accurate! I've known Tim & Corey for years, they come from a wonderful family and operate their business with the utmost professionalism. I had a septic emergency and when I mentioned I had small kids they were over within hours to help me out. I also had them put in a new septic system, top soil and hydro seed and it came out better than I ever thought it would. The hydro seed was high quality, no weeds...I have the best grass in the neighborhood! They were on time and professional! Pricing is completely reasonable and they were a joy to work with. I will absolutely be calling Tim & Corey for all future projects and I highly recommend them! read more

My wife & I hired them to install a septic system. I have dealt with contractors all my working life. Tim started out very pleasant & professional. He became a thug and a liar once the job started. He knew we wanted the job done quickly in order to put our house on the market & tried to work that to his advantage. He started a week later than he promised. He claimed he needed an extra $3600 for sand because he had to dig deeper. He claimed that the town inspector & design engineer told him it was necessary. He backed off when we checked out his lie. He even submitted receipts for sand delivered on days his men were not on our property. He ranted and yelled to try to intimidate us. The job was adequate at best but working with him was torture. He is the most dishonest contractor I have ever met. Stay away! read more

Working with these incompetents was a nightmare, from beginning to end. The work they did on my front yard septic happened in May 2015. These guys were literally liars (right to our faces!), unprofessional, and delivered shabby work, at best. They stored their equipment on my front lawn for weeks. Showed up to do about 2 hrs of work at most, each week. They scoped the work without any damage to existing property, but then ripped out a 12' Koussa dogwood and refused to replace it so I have a hole). Barely hydro seeded anything so I now have a giant dirt patch, along with that hole. Never put topsoil down, so I have a rocky dirt patch, with that hole. Blamed all of the above on me (my fault they ripped out and didn't replace tree, my fault for not watering the hydro (I did, but they only gave me about 10% coverage - on top of rocky backfill, not clean loam - so nothing is growing on that). Still dealing with lawyers... Terrible work. Terrible customer service. Terrible work ethic. Terrible attitude. And I really think -- terrible human beings without morals or remorse. Go ANYWHERE else, I wish I had. read more
