Some weeks after TPS did work in my basement I realized that several items were missing. The total value was about $1500. Lewis Matthews and his partner, (James Farrell I think) were the only people in the basement. Since this is a circumstantial case, no report was made to the police. I can confirm most of the information reported by Jeremy B. In addition, the Truthfinder website reports that Lewis Matthews, d.o.b. March 6, 1988, was charged with forgery, counterfeiting and possession of a stolen vehicle on May 31, 2016. There's much more which I will eventually post on Next Door website. Mathew Lewis and the entire company is basically a scam. If I can give zero stars I will glad to do that. Promised a refund and never return the money since March 2021 via following excuses: Mailed a check and we never received it. (March excuse) Owner is out of town and will personally deliver the check. (April to May excuses) Ask to provided check account to wire it (Jun til now) Over $700 refund and never get the money. Additionally: No show to appointment and no response until call and email. Show up with 4 other male technicians unannounced when only my wife at home without actually fixed the problem. I never would post a review for a mediocre/bad ob but this company was so dishonest to us. We had to pay an actual legitimate company to fix the mess they left behind. The other company was baffled and suggested us to file a complaint. I waited so long to hear back the permanent solution before I decided to post this. They charged me $700+ to change a $10 relay system and they broke my heating system, they lied about to everything and when I suggested to paid for the labor and the parts they said they rather give me a full refund. It's been 3 months and 85 calls, never received anything from them. So sad how you can rip people off. read more

I was able to make an appointment for somebody to come evaluate my leaking kitchen sink faucet. I was told that they don't charge a diagnostic fee. After the plumber basically tightened the faucet in less than 5 minutes, I was charged 125$. Other than that, they're pretty good. Called a few places for a general quote on my shower repair. There was leaking from somewhere behind the wall (yikes). Every place I called quoted $50-100 simply for diagnostics. I called Lewis at Permanent Solutions and not only did he offer a free quote, but ran diagnostics with me over the phone, instructing me how to remove the shower valve and explaining what I was looking for. He was very responsive, professional, and friendly throughout the process, and I felt his quote was reasonable based on what I read on google. I also loved the technology he uses. Everything was digitized from quotes to payments and receipts. I even got up-to-date texts when he was en route to my residence. But the very best part was how quickly he worked. I was crunched with a deadline and he moved things in his schedule to accommodate finishing the work with plenty of time to spare. Truly appreciated, and I would use him again. read more

I had an older and very experienced plumber come in today. He identified the diverter valve right away as the problem. Did not need to turn off the water or drain anything. Did not need to open up the wall or cut holes in the shower. The problem was fixed in 40 minutes and cost me $160 vs $1600. The reply given from The Permanent Solution is once again deceptive and trying to take advantage of someone who may not know as much about plumbing. Having been educated at this point it is even further disappointing that the Permanent Solution continues its deception. Additionally, an exact replacement unit with warranty can be purchased at Home Depot for very little. Once again no need to cut holes in the shower. This would be excessive and damaging. I trust the guy from This Old House on YouTube who has a video on how to replace the entire unit. I am so disappointed and frustrated. Needed to have dripping kitchen faucet replaced. Bought a new faucet at Home Depot, made appointment with TPS, they came to estimate and install. Gave me estimate of $515.31. My faucet has been leaking for a long time so I said go ahead. Install took awhile because assistant pulled sprayer hose out of faucet and couldn't get it back in. At one point I thought l wasn't going to have a working kitchen sink today. But Matt fixed it and made everything right. Very poor experience with company. I am not the first to have a similar issue. First, the plumber that responds goes by Lewis/Mathew. He arrived and quoted 3 different prices to attempt to clear my main sewer lines while waste water and feces were backing up into the home that I had just bought and moved into only 6 days prior. I simply asked him to go with the method that he believed would get it fixed. He said I needed to chose one of the options. Option 1. Snake the Drain $855 Option 2. Camera the pipe over $400 3. Hydrojet $1575. Naturally I opted for the lowest price option. He tried that for a bit and was not successful. He then asked if he could try the hydrojet. Basement still backed up I had no other choice but to have him try something else. I asked why it would cost so much he explained he does not set the prices( this is false as Lewis does in fact set the prices as his wife has the business in her name while Lewis is the sole plumber for company). I found this out later. He tried hydrojetting and was not successful at removing the blockage, his report indicated a 98% block in the mainline. So after approx 3 hours of being on site he hit us with a total charge of $2700 that included Hydrojetting and snaking the line. I immediately said this is absurd and he apologized and said he wishes it was less but he didn't set the prices(not true). I asked why I am being charge for both methods when this was a labor only job that he was unsuccessful at? He said it wasn't his choice and that they charge for each different technique. I called in a couple days later to speak to a leader at the company that can explain and right the wrong of being charged over $2600 for 3 hours of work that was not successful. The person I talked to named "Chris" I though was actually LEwis because of how much he knew about the job. AFter relentless back and forth and being called a liar multiple times he agreed to have his manager issue a partial refun of about $400. I was not happy and felt this was not adequate. After a month and a half and countless call I never received the refund. Numerous calls and was told numerous excuses that include the owner is on vacation, away, and that they sent the check, and that someone would drop it off to me , then they said they cancelled the check and would reissue. All false. Nothing was being done. Every time I called "Chris" answered who I believe to be "Matt" the technician who is actually Lewis. After contacting the state licensing board i was made aware the he has had previous defunct plumbing companies and the owner of this company is the technicians wife. Previous company is Matthews Plumbing Services LLC. TPS plumbing was also formerly known as "The Permanent Solution". I am unable to find a plumbers license on file with the State of Rhode Island either or insurance on the company. Once I was unable to get a solution with Lewis or Chris I contacted the owner directly. I explained her husband performed work and had agreed to refund me because he did not fix problem and took advantage of a situation for financial gain. Within 24 hours she provided me with a very low ball partial refund despite my initial ask to only be charged a reasonable rate for the unsuccessful 3 hours he spent at my house. This occurred after 1 and a half months and only once I told Lewis I would be calling the BBB and licensing board as well as contact the "owner" directly. There is another review posted with a similar experience. Beware. I would stay clear. I had to hire another company to clear the block that TPS was unable to clear. read more

Lewis is awesome. We had a few minor issues that Lewis was able to address quickly and efficiently while showing me how to take care of some of them myself in the future. Plumbing is expensive, so that's huge. We found out that our water heater was 6 years old and it was time for a new one. Lewis explained the entire process in an easy to understand way that made us feel comfortable we were making the right decision. He was able to give us an appointment the next day. The following day he had a cancellation and was able to come even earlier than promised. He arrived right on time with 2 other guys. They were all very polite, considerate, and proficient workers. They replaced the old water heater in a little over 2 hours and it's working great. Would absolutely recommend Lewis and the Permanent Solution. I would give 0 stars if it let me. Contacted Lewis, who lives right across the street to clear a clogged drain in my main line coming into my basement. He cleared the drain fast enough and my pockets of 650 dollars even faster. the next major rain the water backed up into my basement because the cleanout was not retightened. I told him what had happen and he said that it wasn't his problem. At least one of his reviews on YELP is fake because the guy works for him. He is rude, inconsiderate and disrespectful to his neighbors and very proud of it. Do as you like but I would not recommend him to anyone that I liked. read more

Have been trying for ages to get someone to look at my Whirlpool jacuzzi bath tub. Multiple companies would either say they don't service Whirlpool or the jacuzzi was too old. Permanent Solution came out, performed a couple tests and the jacuzzi began to work. There is a problem with the on/off button and Lewis Matthews told me he would do some research to find a solution for the button. I have found the company that accepts a challenge and will tell you if they see things that may cause any complications. Lewis was pleasant, professional and explained how these type of tubs work and common issues or problems that may arise. Absurdly high pricing. Guy comes out with a tablet, and he's literally just picking items such as "miscellaneous heating task", which was priced at $379!!! But it could be for pretty much anything related to a heating system? Horrendous pricing system. Quoted me almost $900 for a job that I literally just got done for $325, and the guy that actually did it was pretty fast and these people made it sound like it would've taken them hours. The guy just kept saying, I don't make the prices...it's like well, I can see that because you showed me, but it doesn't matter because they're still ridiculously high!!! Don't hire these people unless you have a bunch of money you are looking to throw away. Oh and I actually had to ask the guy to put the face mask that was lying on his neck, on his actual face before he entered my house, despite the fact that they advertise that they wear face masks on the site I had hired them from! read more
