We have been to the Milford Dairy bar maannnnny times since our last review in 2022, and can confidently say that our experience the other week will be our final one. On that particular day, there were about half of the usual flavors normally available. The girls who were working had a NASTY attitude and managed to get a basic order wrong and portions are skimpier than they used to be. The banana oreo has no banana flavor. The mint ice cream tasted like toothpaste. Our daughter was happy, so at least there was that. Also, cash only in 2025? Smells like a racket! Anyway, Green Valley has more flavors, friendlier staff, and way better pricing. From now on, that's where we'll be getting our ice cream in Milford from here on out. read more

The setup of this place is like a small DQ where you order so the window and pickup at the same window. The staff were friendly and courteous. They were quick to get our orders. I like that they offer soft serve as well as regular ice cream. They have some unusual flavors that I didn't expect for a small town ice cream shop like Vietnamese Coffee (cinnamon and coffee). The prices were reasonable and the scoops are a decent amount of ice cream. They don't have dilly bars that are homemade only characters such as Spiderman and SpongeBob. They have live music available on certain days so that was cool. They don't have seating inside but have a tent setup on the side for shade. Overall, I like the Cherry Garcia flavor I got. The ice cream is smooth but not soft serve. I like that the ice cream was not super sweet and so it suits my palate. Wow! We came here after a hike at High Point State Park in New Jersey as we wanted ice cream to end the day. It was honestly one of the best homemade ice cream places that I have been to ever and I have been to a lot of homemade ice cream places. A very small old school Ice cream place in town where you literally order your ice cream out of a window. I look forward to coming here every summer when they are opened. They offer 46 homemade delicious unique flavors of ice cream, sorbets and Italian ices. They also have the standard soft ice cream dipped or sprinkled plus shakes. I always look forward to their new unique flavors. I just had their Vietnamese coffee ice cream which had a nice light coffee and cinnamon taste. I also really love their Kahlua express. They can get pretty busy but its so worth the wait. They have live music on the weekends plus picnic tables where you can just sit and enjoy. Milford dairy bar is an AWESOME local ice cream shop with both standard AND inventive flavors (skidmark, fuzzy bear, fancy pants, kahlua express, chai tea). Best of all, it's super creamy and rich!!! Very clearly homemade! I got the kahlua express, coffee and salty caramel pretzel--all were delicious! The kahlua express was loaded with chocolate covered espresso beans, the coffee was great - rich in flavor unlike most other places, and the salty caramel pretzel carried the perfect balance of sweet and salty (but sadly the toppings were scarce). We visited MDB four times during our recent trip to the Milford area. I considered stopping in again today before heading home, but five days in a row seemed a bit overindulgent... It's not a fancy place at all - just a walk-up window and a few outdoor picnic tables around the side - but the ice cream is fantastic, and the flavors varied and interesting. MDB's ice cream is rich and creamy without being *too rich*. Their portions are true to size (a small cup was one small scoop, the medium was two small scoops) and priced appropriately. The kids working the window are friendly, and will happily explain what goes into Fancy Pants or Fuzzy Bear. My favorite by far was the Banana Oreo (banana flavored ice cream studded with chunks of Oreo cookies). The ice cream softened up the cookies just enough to give them a fudgy texture, and the ice cream itself tasted like real bananas and not some nasty banana-flavored chemical additive. I enjoyed this one so much that I got it again on Day Three. Their chocolate ice cream is wonderful as well - deeply chocolate, not too sweet but not too dark. I tried three different variations: Dark Chocolate Peanut (with crunchy chocolate covered peanuts); Chocolate Raspberry (with tiny chocolate-covered raspberry candies and a raspberry swirl); and in milkshake form, the Chocolate Banana. Each of these were fantastic. I also tried the Salty Caramel Cups (caramel flavored ice cream with little chocolate-covered caramel candies mixed in). The ice cream itself was very tasty, but the chocolate coating on the candies was a bit waxy and distracting. Not the best of the bunch, but still enjoyed. Tasty, quality homemade ice cream. Visited here after lunch nearby. I was thrilled with the amount of creative concoctions on the menu. I ordered the Fancy Pants, which was Vanilla Ice cream with Brownie bits and Caramel Swirl. It was good, but nothing compared to what my boyfriend ordered, the Salted Caramel Ice cream with chocolate caramel pieces, it was delicious, creamy, and fresh tasting. Ice cream flavors are great. We tried chocolate/cherry cordial, fuzzy bear (choc/white chocolate), and red velvet. All winners. The smoothies are a bit watery tasting. Quick back story: My wife and I moved to Milford 3 years ago. We have two children 2.5 and 1 year olds. I grew up in a city atmosphere and love the community feel of Milford. Today I took my daughter on a Daddy/Daughter date for pizza and ice cream and it started raining when we got our pizza. I drove around Milford looking for a place we could stay outside and eat and thought of Dairy Bar because they have a tent to protect against the rain. I got there and nobody else was there besides the owner and his daughters, who I found out work there with him. I was concerned because we were going to eat pizza before ordering our ice cream and thought someone might be upset because we brought outside food to eat there. A few minutes into me and my daughter sharing pizza, the owner came out, and instead of running us away he personally thanked us for stopping by on a rainy day. He asked me how long I lived in Milford and told me how he has daughters that went through the school system and how proud he was of them. He laughed with my daughter and made our day better. We then got some delicious ice cream and brought some home to Mom. It's people and things like this that make Milford and the world as a whole a better place. It is also a testament to how if you treat people with love and respect, you may earn yourself a customer/friend for life. My family and I will never go elsewhere for ice cream and will recommend Dairy Bar every time moving forward. read more

Ugh, I know this is the New Yorker in me but I find it so spiteful and disrespectful when businesses don't keep to hours that are posted online. This place closes at 9pm, not 9:30pm (and based on some of the other reviews here, it seems that even the 9pm is only occasionally kept).
