I have been extremely disappointed with the responsiveness of Kaiser Member Services and Grievance…read moreOperations, as well as the lack of timely access to psychiatric care. Throughout the grievance process, I experienced repeated difficulties obtaining updates and communicating with the individuals assigned to my case. Calls often went unanswered, voicemail boxes were full, and messages were not returned in a timely manner. In addition, obtaining timely psychiatric care has been unnecessarily difficult. Mental health concerns should be treated with the same urgency and importance as physical health concerns. Delays in access to psychiatric services and the challenges involved in coordinating care have added unnecessary stress during an already vulnerable time. Patients who file grievances are often doing so because they are already dealing with important healthcare concerns. It is frustrating to feel unheard or unable to obtain basic information regarding the status of a complaint. Effective communication, timely access to care, and continuity of care are essential components of quality patient care, and unfortunately, my experience has fallen short of those expectations. I hope Kaiser reviews the accessibility and responsiveness of Member Services, Grievance Operations, and psychiatric services to ensure that members receive timely communication and appropriate mental health care. Patients should not have to repeatedly advocate for themselves or resort to outside complaints simply to receive responses and access to necessary treatment.

I really wanted to like Dr. Lennon. She seemed kind but inexperienced and honestly that's fine. All…read moredoctors are new at some point. But I had a few concerns that I did not appreciate about being under her care. She did not take my need for a female doctor seriously. Most practitioners don't but I think it's important to not assume why someone may be uncomfortable with an opposite gender doctor. She failed to note that my daughter was occiput posterior positioned despite the multiple and I mean MULTIPLE 3D ultrasounds. My daughter was a large baby as well. I had concerns about vaginal delivery and Dr. Lennon dismissed my concerns and told me to stop discussing my concerns with other moms. Toward the end of my pregnancy I developed preeclampsia and Dr. Lennon decided it was time to induce the pregnancy. While in the hospital, multiple drs asked why I am attempting a natural delivery given my lab tests and size of my daughter. I advised it was important to Dr. Lennon. After 3 days of this nonsense, I am quite sure that the other drs on call convinced my rather new dr to perform a c-section. Dr. Lennon was not pleased with this outcome and told me she couldn't call it a failed c-section since we didn't try it again but agreed to perform the c-section if that is what I wanted. She tested me for HIV without my consent. She also put in my medical chart that I had a history of MRSA which I told her I did not. She was unable to explain any of the symptoms I was experiencing while pregnant and often needed to confer with more seasoned OBGYNs. I was honest about my history with depression and anxiety and she nearly refused to fill out intermittent leave paperwork for my employer unless I went under the care of a psychiatrist and took SSRIs. Once baby was born she said she was calling a social worker to ensure I wasn't a danger to myself or my baby. Because of my experiences with Dr. Lennon I will be very careful before disclosing my prior mental history ever again. She is no longer at SEBMF and has moved on to a Sutter location in Oakland. I am hoping she has grown in her career and future patients will need to undergo this kind of treatment.

Got there, no name up front in the office , got to a different suit, ran back elevator to find out she's in a different suite, yet no name on the plate outside. While I am waiting to be seen, Dr Lennon steps out to get water from the fountain and stands around talking to her staff.

I have been suffering from an irrational fear of public speaking for as long as I can remember. I…read moreavoided it for years and finally came to the realization that it was hindering my professional career along with my sense of self. I finally got angry with the situation and realized that I needed some help. Not knowing anything about hypnotherapy, I decided to give it a try and found Paz on Yelp. I was attracted to her offer of a "30-day fix" because I didn't want ongoing therapy for years and years with no end in sight. Within one hour (seriously), she was able to get to the root of the problem - the moment when the first "domino" fell and led me down the path to self-doubt and insecurity. After the initial session, Paz had me listen to a custom-made audio recording every morning after waking and every night before going to sleep. 30 days later, I was in a completely different headspace. Hypnosis wasn't what I thought it was based on tv and the movies, it's far more subtle....but it worked. I was able to deliver the speech. And while I was a little apprehensive, there were no feelings of dread or nausea. My voice held steady, I could breathe easily, and I could deliver the message. I consider myself a fairly cynical person so the very idea that, after a lifetime of dread and terror of public speaking, I could calmly deliver a speech was simply unreal. Paz delivered as promised and I will be eternally grateful. I truly feel as though a door has been opened and my true self was able to walk through and be free. I wish I'd found her years ago.

Admittedly, I was skeptical and unsure about hypnotherapy, but decided to reach out for a consultation. Paz immediately put me at ease and described the therapy and her technique in a manner that I could process. I was concerned that I would not be in control during hypnotherapy, but she explained that is not the case at all. The best way I can describe the experience for me, was a very powerful guided meditation. She took me down a deep subconscious path, which unlocked the source of my OCD and germophobia that had plagued me for years. After several sessions and using her recorded reinforcement tapes, I am proud to say that say that these issues no longer quietly control me. It's been 5 months since my first session, and I have not digressed. Paz has a good soul, understands people, and makes you feel comfortable. I would highly recommend her to anyone considering hypnotherapy. Mike

Nefretiri Abat is a culturally incompetent and negligent mental health provider. She stereotyped me…read moreby my skin tone and name which lead to her assuming my ethnicity and shaming me of what she thought I ate daily after judgement of my color. In addition, after being stereotyped, I still stayed calm and proceeded like normal with the appointment; however, she cuts you off mid sentence and assumes what you are going to say and even when trying to correct her, she still doesn't listen. Although I did not have a great first experience with her, i gave her the benefit of doubt and I decided to proceed to schedule a second appointment with her which was scheduled at 5:45 when I specifically told her I don't arrive home till 6:45 after work. This caused me to miss my appointment due to the timing mixup. Since I missed my appointment, I messaged her the same day at 6:45 taking full accountability and apologizing by stating that I mixed the times up and if I could reschedule on another day when I would be home on time for the appointment. However, it has been a whole week and I still have not received a response. I took the initiative to make an appointment myself again on Zocdoc, but she has ignored it and did not send me any confirmation or zoom link. Not responding to a patient and declining an appointment without any reason given is clear negligence. As someone who works in the medical field, it upsets me that there are still racist, incompetent, and negligent individuals that work in the mental health field where it should be a safe space. She is a part of the problem of why patients hesitant to receive help for their mental health due to mistreatment from providers like her. Save yourself the mistreatment and find a better mental health provider who actually will care for you and your well being.
