RE-POST: Frank F. Fasi Municipal Building exists as PART of the Civic Center…read more The FRANK F. FASI MUNICIPAL BUILDING is a 16-story governmental office building. It was built sometime during the 1980's to early 1990's during the tenure of then Mayor Frank F. Fasi. It wasn't until 2006, when Mayor Hanneman renamed this building and the civic center after Mayor Fasi for the recognition of Mayor Fasi's service and commitment to the City of Honolulu. Mayor Fasi is credited for "building" much of the foundations on which Honolulu stands. In fact, as a young adult, I remember seeing bulldozers in downtown Honolulu's Capitol District where this building and several others were built. He held the distinction of being the longest serving Mayor of Honolulu (1969 - 1981). Last year, when we were in the process of selling our home, we had to get some documents from a couple of offices located this building. We parked in the municipal parking lot and followed the pathway to the building's entrance. It is a secure building as we signed in with the security guard and left our identification cards with him. We also had to pass through a metal detection booth which reminded me of those at airport TSA checkpoints. The offices that we know of that are within this building are: -Department of Planning and Permits -DPP Data Access & Imaging Branch (they STILL use microfiche readers) -Land Use Commission -Census Data. We're sure that there are other C&C offices here but we weren't allowed to take pictures or go to any other offices than what we signed in for. So, if you're planning to build an addition or renovation to your home, you or your contractor will need to come here to obtain a permit for the construction. This building houses offices related to Real Property. By the way, this building is PART of the civic center.

This new State Building in Kapolei (the second city) houses many Departments such as: Transportation Education Land and Natural Resources Human Services Attorney General I thought that the parking would be free, but there was a kiosk in the lobby for payment. Shucks. I didn't note my stall number nor get a ticket for my dashboard. They were quick to ticket my car. I will write a letter to appeal the ticket. Anyway, the building interior was clean. I followed signs to the correct office. There was no line. (I expected a line on a Monday morning.) The security guard asked me to take a number and have a seat since I wanted to turn in forms (for my aunty) in person and not drop them off. I was helped quickly, and the worker was efficient, professional, and pleasant! She photocopied the documents. There was a convenient pen at the window. Thank you!

It's a standalone baby-blue building on the left with plenty of free parking right in front. Just note that the library is only open Monday through Friday, and the hours vary by day. SERVICE: From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the security staff, which makes the library feel welcoming. If you need help finding something, don't hesitate to ask. One staff member wasn't able to answer my question, but instead of just pointing me in the right direction, she personally introduced me to the appropriate librarian. The librarian then helped me and even walked me to the correct section. That's the kind of customer service you don't see everywhere. 5/5 SELECTION: This library is definitely a hidden gem. Before visiting, you can search the online catalog to see if a book is available, and I was surprised by how many titles the Ewa Beach branch carries. If they don't have what you're looking for, you can also request books from other Hawaii public libraries. OVERALL: Great customer service, an impressive book selection, and plenty of parking make this one of my favorite neighborhood libraries. The ceiling lights remind me of my grandma's old living room! There's useful resources when entering like bus routes, tax forms, the new ENV sewer credit application, etc. The library is organized & reference signs are clear. It's quiet (like it should be). There's computer areas, charging station, children's room, another room in back, a meeting room for activities/games, that you could also rent. There's a atrium (or something like that - see pic). There's free weekly activities for the communitiy to join (what we waiting for)! The staff is friendly and explanatory. Tips: Cash or checks only! Hot list books & DVD's are 1 week rental, all other books, even ukulele's can rent 3 weeks and return to any state public library! You can also do Self checkout if you feeling anti social. Speaking of, it's Mental Health Awareness month & they caringly put out resources, pamphlets & book suggestions to help with that Happy reading!

I entered the East Foster Village Community Center one evening to attend a birthday party for my uncle. As I walked down the hallway I noticed there's an entrance to the community hall as well as the entrance to the swimming pool. The restrooms are towards the left side of the swimming pool. I walked towards the community hall and noticed the tables plus chairs were setup for the party. The kitchen is located towards the left side of one of the entrances. East Foster Village Community Center has party rates for the swimming pool, the community hall, or a combo rate for the hall and pool. After the birthday party the family members cleared out the community hall by putting away the tables and chairs into the storage area. One of the family members even mopped the floor after the tables and chairs were removed from the hall. The pool area shuts down at 6pm since there are no lights available for the pool area. I do know that the children and teenagers enjoyed both the kiddie pool and the adult pool. 75/100

Just from its construction billboards announcing this structure, we were excited to see what agencies the JTMC would house or collaborate with. Well, when this center opened in January 2020, and we went to check it out as we noticed its new tenants moving in. This center's six tenants are City and State Agencies as follows. City & County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services (DTS) Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Emergency Services Department (ESD) Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) State of Hawaii Hawai'i Department of Transportation (HDOT) The JTMC brings together both state and city agencies to focus on improving traffic management and public safety coordination on O'ahu. Led by the City's Department of Transportation Services (DTS) and Hawai'i State Department of Transportation (HDOT), this center's combination of people and automated systems can proactively manage traffic and change the traffic flow in response to or in anticipation of traffic incidents, coordinate traffic information among responders and to the public. Although we didn't roam about the interior of the building for security reasons, we admired the architectural design of this building. We could see themes of Hawaiian tradition and Pacific voyaging and navigation themes. The overall building honors the revival and perpetuation of Hawaiian and Polynesian voyaging. The JTMC's logo is Hōkū Pa'a which translates to "North Star" can be seen on the statue fronting its South Street entrance. The Hōkū Pa'a is in the shape of a shield with 3 distinct design elements: the 7-pointed star, the Pueo (Hawaiian short-eared owl) and, trails or roadways. I'm glad to see these six City and State Agencies put under one roof as it means that O'ahu's public daily commutes will be supported with safety and efficiency.

Okay not really because it was dark and we had to cross the street which he knows better. But still, I got excited for him! What an amazing crew at Station 43!! You guys rock! Located in Kapolei Hawaiian Homestead area, right across from Ka Makana Ali'i Mall. Even though it has been here for years, it still looks brand new! Very spacious facility with all types of fire truck vehicles scattered around its lot.
