I entered the East Foster Village Community Center one evening to attend a birthday party for my uncle. As I walked down the hallway I noticed there's an entrance to the community hall as well as the entrance to the swimming pool. The restrooms are towards the left side of the swimming pool. I walked towards the community hall and noticed the tables plus chairs were setup for the party. The kitchen is located towards the left side of one of the entrances. East Foster Village Community Center has party rates for the swimming pool, the community hall, or a combo rate for the hall and pool. After the birthday party the family members cleared out the community hall by putting away the tables and chairs into the storage area. One of the family members even mopped the floor after the tables and chairs were removed from the hall. The pool area shuts down at 6pm since there are no lights available for the pool area. I do know that the children and teenagers enjoyed both the kiddie pool and the adult pool. 75/100

The walls are brick white, by the entrance you're able to set up a reception area, there are two steps and you are in the main area with the kitchen off to the left and a fire place as the focal point to the right. Multiple windowed doors leading out to the pool area. The Jacuzzi area is up a few stairs and several feet away from the pool. Large lounge area, bathrooms are very clean. The view is breath-taking when standing pool side. Lots of street parking. If you're looking to have a small intimate gathering, this would be the perfect place. Security can be seen doing their rounds, very secure. Attend a psychic event here, they created a beautifully serene environment. Also attended a passion party event and this venue blended well with that event too. Beautiful, well kept, stunning view, wonderful area and works well for any type of function.

From personal experience, the leasing side was a pain in the butt to work with. The people at the community center have been great though! We were looking into switching into a single story home, due to medical reasons, a few months ago. The leasing office sent me paperwork that was meant to be filled out by my PCM and turned in. They didn't give me any information other then that. So when I was finally able to get an appointment with my PCM (lololol a whole other annoying issue), he looked at me like I was insane for even asking such a thing. He refused to fill the paperwork out because if he did, the powers that be would also revoke my driving privileges and wouldn't let me hold my child? Yeah, needless to say I got super emotional and gave up on our quest for a better fit home. Out of the blue the other day, I got an email from the leasing side about being on the waitlist and all this welcome to Hickam such information. I apologized for the confusion, seeing as we already live on Hickam, and asked to set up an appointment to possibly switch homes. She sent me to call the community center, and then the community center told me to just come in. Within 15 minutes I was in and out. I told the representative my story, and she got the paperwork set up right away. I know this is a long story, but I don't think the community center gets enough credit. I know there are different community centers for different neighborhoods (right?), but I just felt way less stupid finally going in to the source and getting things accomplished. And I think others are unaware of how to go about switching homes if need be. Is Hickam Communities as a whole still super confusing? Yup. I don't think they even know whats going on ha. Do I need a new PCM? Yyyeeeaaahhh, yeah I do. Is the community center perfect? Probably not. I am sure other people have stories of their own, and yeah the whole energy cap thing kind of sucks. But is that really their problem? Still confused. In my experience as a whole, the people from the community center were the kindest when moving in to our home and have been the kindest within the time that we have lived here so far. P.S. from what I understood, maintenance is run by the leasing side? So...yeah don't blame the community center for that mess. That is just dang poor management right there. I should not have to schedule an appointment for two weeks out just to not have them show up during my 4-8 hour window. Unacceptable guys.

It's a good time to spotlight the USO near my office. A work buddy mentioned that the Ft. Shafter…read moreUSO offered a free lunch on Wednesdays. Sounded it was worth trying, so let's go! The USO is located a short walk from the office, so we were there in a hurry. After we checked in, I took a look around. Recently renovated, USO-FS is spacious. There are pool tables, regular tables, and relaxation chairs in a darkened corner. There is also a good size patio with a good number of tables, very cool and refreshing! We picked up sandwiches, drinks, chips, and a cookie for dessert from the canteen and picked out a table outside. Sometimes free is good. We normally eat at staggered times due to competing priorities and this is one of the few times we have gone out as a section and socialize. You have to check in when you first enter, using the USO app to do so really speeds up the process. Used to use the USO often when I started out in the military and during deployments, a nice alternative in airports! Repeat and recommend!

Since moving closer, we've attended many awesome community events here at the Momilani Community Center. They're usually always free to attend, usually have tons of great food booths, music, and activities! Our most recent outing was to the Pearl City Halloween Bash held at the center! It was tons of fun, lots of games, prizes, music and so much more. I especially enjoyed the Halloween event because it provided a safe and fun environment for the children, including my 2 and 4 year Olds. They had a blast!! And that's what matters most. We've also attended many private parties here. It's such a great location with lots of street parking, and lots of spa e for so many things. Leahi Swim School is also lo aged here.
