I usually look for a spot of green on the GPS in the form of a city park. On a recent shopping trip to the Waikele Outlets, I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful the nearby Waikele Community Park is! We dropped off the shopper and drove just a few minutes. The park is shaped like a giant half circle with golf condos behind trees around it. The parking lot is very large with plenty of shaded parking. This park is awash in amenities: public clean restrooms, a community pool with generous hours (although be prepared for unexpected closings), a recreation office with many classes and activities, and picnic area (by permit). Everything we explored was spotless, no trash here. Uphill from the pool is a large open field perfect to play games, set up volleyball nets or tents. There was a large family gathering happening while we were there, and it looked so relaxing and shady. This is as perfect as an Oahu city park can be!

The path is paved, wide, and stroller/ tricycle/ scooter-friendly, so it works well for both adults and kids. The whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe. There are enough people around that it doesn't feel empty, but never crowded. There are several playgrounds scattered along the loop, which makes them great "pit stops" if you're there with kids. The playgrounds aren't brand new, but they're in decent condition and set on rubber flooring. They're perfect for active toddlers and slightly older kids. Our two-year-old can enjoy the slides and smaller features without it feeling overwhelming or dangerous. The only thing I wish is that there were a few more benches near the playgrounds for parents to sit and relax. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of trees providing shade and greenery that stays fresh even in the hotter months. Lately, the flowering trees have been blooming with pinkish-yellow blossoms. There are also picnic tables and restrooms available (didn't check the restrooms personally, but they're there).

Pool is nice and heated/warm…read more Kiddie pool isn't heated/warm. For as long as I can remember, the pool doesn't look like it changed since I was in middle school. I attended a birthday pool party at night so all I can remember is the rectangular shape of it. The temperature control is a great enhancement! Location: Situated near Hanalani school. Nice size lot with an abundance of open stalls. Some stalls are not meant to be reversed in, there's a sign. Few vending machines for snacks and drinks. Lifeguard checks the chlorine level every so often. Pool toys seem to be allowed. I brought my sons pool rings and the lifeguard didn't say anything. Great pool overall. I'd come back on days I wouldn't want to risk the chance of swimming in an over crowded pool at the other recreation centers in the vicinity. Why I subtracted a star: Floaties aren't allowed. Including infant ones.. Lifeguard didn't even notice we were blowing it up because he was doing his job by watching those in the pool. I didn't see a sign either. A lady who clearly works at the rec center walked right past us and could have told me straight up. I won't bite.. But instead she told him and then the messenger came to us lol.

I don't know his name but his shift is Saturday at 3:00 when we came. There was a green high apparatus that slowly moved up then sent bucketloads of water down. The force looked significant but Bud kept going back for more. This was not here or not operable the first time we came. This time they added photos of us into their system. Then we were issued our hot pink wrist bands. At the pool the lifeguard said no life vests allowed when he saw it on our beach bag. We stayed at the Baby pool but Bud must have wanted more action and said, "Let's go back to the Splash Pad."

It was pretty tight inside when I attended some parties and baby showers.. but we made it work. I could slide in easily. However parents with strollers and pregnant mommies may feel uncomfortable. Especially transporting a new born upstairs. I would just take the car seat and diaper bag.. The parking lot is very tiny, so with any party, parking on the street in a residential area can be humbug sometimes..

You must have a current Mililani Town Association membership consisting of a digital bar code to obtain your wrist bands to enjoy the Splash area and the separate pool area. There is a rope at the 4 feet depth. Two life guards are on duty. One life guard was seriously watching her post while another one was socializing with another lifeguard his eyes on her and not the kiddies in the water. Like they say, always be an arms reach away from your child in the water. There are umbrellaed tables and some benches in the pool area and benches around the Splash area. Be prepared to get misted on depending on which way the breeze is blowing. It's good to see improvements made to Rec 4 for families to enjoy. The women's restroom has two curtained shower stalls. Can't tell you about the men's side. Have a nice summer.

Most the old reviews are for a different park. Pacheco Neighborhood Park is located at the…read moreintersection of Kamehameha Hwy and Waimano Home Road. It shares an entrance with Pearl Harbor Elementary School. The park has two ball fields, a basketball court, tennis/pickleball court, and restrooms. The restrooms are open 24/7 which unfortunately has people in it for no reason at all. It just does not make it safe to use the bathroom when there are others just there. If it weren't for the bathrooms, then this place would be pretty decent. But the bathrooms bring this place down. The courts themselves are in ok. And the ball fields, while not spectacular, are decent. There are bleachers, but the ones under the trees are graffitied up. I know it sounds like I should bring the ratings down some more, but the park is usable. Parking is above the park, so be prepared to walk the stairs or take the ramp down. And for irony, the police station is right up mauka from the park, but you won't find any cops hanging around here.
