I would not recommend Milk and Sugar Nails. The owner was extremely pushy about pricing. Both the online price list and the price list displayed in the salon clearly stated that a new set was $45, but when I sat down, I was told it would be $80. When I questioned the price, she claimed they no longer offer acrylics and that both price lists were outdated. However, I could clearly see acrylic powder sitting at her station, which made the explanation seem dishonest and felt like an excuse to charge double the advertised price. To make matters worse, less than three hours after leaving the salon, two of my nails snapped off completely. The quality was so poor that I had to pay another salon to fix and redo them the same day. Between the misleading pricing, the unprofessional attitude, and nails breaking within hours, this was an extremely disappointing experience. Don't waste your money here. read more

Worst experience ever. Long story short- Lee, ensured the uv gel was just as strong as acrylic numerous times even after I asked to make it a bit thicker. Sure enough my nail chipped the next day. I wanted 2 nails fixed and a manicure. I personally think she was upset because I did not want a fill-in and honestly told her I couldn't afford it. She already wanted $45. $45 for two nails fixed, no manicure, not even a file and a crappy paint job that I had to remove ASAP. I would mention things to fix and she just wouldn't. I was infuriated my whole time there that I held back tears and couldn't even bring myself to say anything without going crazy. She got my ass. read more

Lee the owner is so sweet and takes great care of me. She makes sure you have coffee or water. Takes her time while doing my nails and and doesn't rush. Always says if any issues just come back. Maria gives the best massages and does an amazing pedicure. She is great and so nice. All in all you can't find many places like this. It's so relaxing to come here. Horrible experience! The owner is pushy and rough. She cut my fingers and made them raw and bloody. She also put glitter on one of my nails on each hand even though I did not ask for it or want it. She took so long to come back to my manicure that the technician that did my niece's nails came over to finish me, while standing up. I usually have Gina for my mani pedi and she is just the best, so funny so accommodating and does great nails as well as an awesome massage. I have been coming here for 6 years. Now it is under new ownership and it's wonderful still!!! They are super clean, have the latest and greatest equipment and polishes, they offer more services than just nails(massages, facials etc), the staff is super friendly, polite, courteous and really make you feel valued. This salon is so conveniently close to my house that I only go here on emergencies or lazy days, because meh. The language barrier is definitely a struggle in here. The nail work is just fine. But regular hand and foot, and even back massages, are a joke. The Latin American girls are much better than the owner and the Asian employees. The owner is super loud and obnoxious. She and the other Asian employees constantly push to offer other service like eyebrow waxing and they don't leave you in peace. When my husband used to go, the owner would always make the same stupid joke "which color? pick a color! HAHAHAHAHA" and it was really just ughhhh. Also, this place is so expensive compared to others, with better service, on fresh pond. $30 for a mani pedi that's nothing special. I left a $3 tip, and my technician just threw it on the basket as if I had given her a bag of crap, and didn't walk over to give me a back rub when my nails were drying. I wanted to try a different nail salon in the area and I'm happy I came here! The interior is so clean and elegant. The nail techs are so sweet. They offered me coffee, water, or green tea. Sandra did my pedicure and she was paying attention to detail, which I appreciated! She took her time and did not rush like other nail techs in different places do. She noticed that one of my toes was broken and told me that I should get an acrylic on it to help it heal. Lee (the owner) did the acrylic on me and she was great as well. It is a little bit on the high end though when it comes to prices. A pedicure was $26 (and $8 for the acrylic I fix) but it is so worth it! They use two towels, one for each leg/foot. Honestly was so disappointed went here about 2 months ago , I asked for acrylic tips , first she ripped off the tips I already had on which hurt terribly (she could of just soaked them off or used a metro card ) ... then she went on doing my nails in a different technique while I reminded her I wanted acrylic tips .... my nails came out so crooked , thin & the process was painful & burned , also my nail polish was so terrible and smudged .... Then at the end she told me it is 55$ because she did a different technique which I did not ask for and kept reminding her i would really like acrylic , 2 of my nails broke the next day , I went to show the lady who did my nails and I did not go back to re do them because it is a waste of time and also my nails were so damaged I had to get these taken off and not do my nails for a month to let them heal , very disappointed sorry to say ... read more

I found this place a little over a month ago after driving around and searching via Yelp reviews. Very clean, employees and owner give great service....offering something to drink. My pedicure was wonderful and the leg massage was much needed and they also use liners for pedicures Gel manicure looked great and the new equipment they use was nice. They have a lot of color choices. Going back today for the second time. 11/22/16 Went back for my third visit and had a great pedicure and fantastic leg/foot massage from Kim. Added up more and more charges and never asked me if I wanted any of this. Charged me 50 dollars for a gel pedicure and never told me the price before. Always trying to push more and more money on you. They will show you a pedicure list and it doesn't even say a regular pedicure when I ask for a regular one they go 45 dollars I have to repeat myself and say no a regular pedicure. Happened to be in the neighborhood and had some free time. Came in for a basic manicure. I had called ahead and they had quoted $10 for a mani. Lee did my manicure - spent minimal time on my nails - didn't smoothen nail surface, barely massaged in the lotion. Polish was applied by someone else - who did an ok job - nail ridges still showed through, application somewhat uneven. The neck massage could barely be felt and lasted less than 30 seconds. Milk & Sugar is where you want to go if you want a nightmare. I go to her salon simply because I leave nearby. But I had enough, so never again. Lee, the owner, is extremely rude, insulting, and nosy. She mistreats her staff, it's embarrassing; I feel bad for them. Lee always tries to sell her services on you even if you clearly don't need it, by saying "you need waxing", "you need eyebrows done", "you need manicure" when you're there just for a pedicure. She is not asking, she is stating them to make us feel bad, like we do need it when it's not so. Lee is the owner and yet, the worst manicurist there. Be careful; if you have Lee and you need filing, she will file your nails and your skin. She makes them bleed. During a pedicure with Lee, I had to stop her and even asked for someone else but she kept saying they're busy. I firmly told her she was hurting me and to please stop filing and use a nail clipper instead. I had her for a manicure once, and when she was filing my nails, she was rushing and got too close to my cuticles I went home with my cuticles bleeding and it took days to heal. It not only hurt but my nails looked so bad. She's the owner and yet she can't even file nails?? I could do a better job than Lee. So when I was charged $30.00 for the quick pedicure, I felt I was being robbed. The other customers who were having a pedicure before me, were still in their seats, and because Lee is rushing, I was already done a long time before them. After what is supposed to be a relaxing time, you always leave that place stressed. My friend and I both came in for a gel manicure on a Sunday afternoon. They were quick and extremely friendly. I absolutely loved the ambiance, the staff and owner. There are many color/polish options which is a plus and you can't beat their reasonable pricing. My only issue is that after a week my nails did experience some chipping. I will however return because my friends nails were impeccable for 2 and half weeks! So i'm not sure what we did differently but I'm definitely willing to give them another go ! read more

Horrible experience! Got my eyebrows waxed at Milk and Sugar. I told her to not make them too thin. She did left eyebrow and gave me the mirror to check if i like it. It was ok. I adore this place, I live right up the block and have been going here for almost a year - I started off with Lee who helped my nails get back to being strong due to my other nail salon ruining my natural nails. Margarita and Maria are always a pleasure - but this last time (yesterday) that I went I had Gina who is AMAZING. She takes her time, is gentle and lets you know exactly what she is doing and why ... the pedicure she gave me (although it was a spa pedicure, which are a must try) was one of the best I've gotten there AND her massage !! Used to go here all the time. The women working work hard and are great but the owner is awful. I got a gel manicure here and the owner had a girl do it who didn't have any experience doing gel. It looked terrible and I felt bad for the girl because the owner was yelling at her even when she said she never did gel before. The owner then tried to get me to pay for it and said she would give me a free gel manicure next time. NO WAY. I told her I was not paying for this manicure and that I would not be back. It's a clean salon, they line the sinks for pedicures, which is a plus since I got a nail fungus two years ago and another place in Maspeth- Utopia. I picked a premium color and because it was my first visit, didn't charge me extra. Great business practice! Julie gave me a great pedi with callous removal. It's conveniently near my house and I honestly don't know why I don't come here regularly, but that'll change now. :) the staff and owner are always so welcoming and make you feel comfortable. I just had a gel manicure from Gina and I couldn't stop laughing with her. HILARIOUS and not to mention the French gel manicure came out awesome :) They're a tiny bit on the pricier side but it's nothing to really complain about (you want good quality then you have to pay for it) The pedicures are incredible, relaxing and not to mention they LAST! horrible experience. i have a great salon but i wanted to try another salon for a change so i made an appointment here to do acrylic almond shaped nails. i asked them how much and they said 35. i came in and a lady took me. she didn't know what almond shaped nails are so i showed her a picture. then when she got to it she cut some nails too short for them to be almond and others they were fine. she apparently thought they were fine. i told her that they are all different shapes and sizes. so she glued another nail on top of these. didn't even take off the other nail!!!!! plus they didn't even look straight at all. the owner im guessing saw and took me to her station to fix them. took off all the nails to start over. she used gel on me without asking and said that it stay's on longer. she made the other girl file one of my hands while she does the other. the nails all came out different sizes and shapes... plus she charged me 65 dollars for messed up nails and for something i didnt even want... i paid and stormed out of there after 2 hours. i learned my lesson. don't try to fix something that's not broken. and as it turned out, after 3 days 2 of them fell off without any force at all. never again. staying with my nail salon. read more
