I first seeked her help to confirm my suspension of baby girl having a lip tie…read more She's was able to do home visits, which is so convenient for me as I'm home alone most days and taking her outside can be troublesome. She was very accommodating with scheduling too! After evaluation, she diagnosed my baby girl with lip tie and possibly a tounge tie. She showed me some exercises I can do daily to help with her oral functions and body tension. Shes suggested some dentists that shes seen procedure success in. She advised that its up to me if I want to do the lip tie procedure, and that oral exercises will need to be done after procedure so getting her use to exercises is important. And sometimes the exercises can significantly improve without needing the procedure. Shes also suggested nipple types I can try to help her latch better. Overall, after 3 sessions, baby girl has minimal clicking, better latch and slightly stronger tounge. Im still on the fence with the procedure, i know sooner the better, but if she continues to improve, I may forgo the procedure. Let's hope her 4 month regression does not undo all our hard work. I will revisit Stacy when baby girl starts solids.

We were referred to Judy Li, IBCLC by our friends who are also first time parents. We first met via zoom a few weeks before our baby's expected delivery. We were discharged from Huntington on a Thursday and met with Judy the next afternoon. Judy arrived with a scale, PPE, and everything we needed for our in-home consult. The benefits of meeting in the comfort of our home were immense. We asked questions on bottles, nipples, pumps, feeding times, sleep schedules, bottle cleaning, milk storage, etc. Any question we had, Judy had an answer. In addition to questions, we were able to get real time feeding critiques and best practices. As a first time parent, we wondered and worried about every decision, but with Judy's guidance we felt more confident in everything we were doing for our baby. Judy is knowledgeable, personable, and provided great advice in the decisions we were making for our baby. Also, the literal next day, my wife's production milk kicked into high gear! Judy came to my home, fitted me correctly (I was using flanges two sizes too large), observed me pumping, and gave me helpful tips to maximize my output and increase my milk supply. As a first-time mom, I learned so much from her that I wish I had been taught at the hospital. She was knowledgeable, supportive, and great about following up afterward. I'm currently writing this 10 days postpartum with my little one in my arms…read more In short, our experience with Erin was nothing short of amazing from start to finish (although we are not finished yet ). For the lengthier review, after interviewing her before booking her, we felt like we just clicked with Erin and her personality/vibe. We knew she would be the right fit for what we were looking for in our first homebirth experience let alone prenatal/birth experience in general. We began care with her at 13 weeks (because we took our dear time early pregnancy lol). Every appointment was filled with attentiveness, education, resources, care, laughs, hearing our baby's heartbeat, and an open field of questions and answers. Although my husband was on board with homebirth, he was still more uneasy about it in the beginning. After each appointment, he gained more and more confidence to the point where he was the one fielding questions by family members and friends during all of the holiday festivities. It was great! After months of appointments and preparation, it was time to meet our baby. Erin was available from the beginning signs of labor to answer my questions and be ready when the time was right to come over and help me through to the end. It was a long weekend for this first time mom, but once things picked up it was go time. Erin arrived the morning of our baby's birthday ready to assist but with just the energy that I would need. I would say I'm more mellow and less high energy personality-wise, and she met me at that level. What I love about Erin and I'm sure midwifery care in general is that everything is on an informed consent basis. She always asked me rather than forced me to do anything. It truly makes you feel empowered about your birth and not tossed around like you're just a patient. The next few hours consisted of checking on me and baby, the assistant midwife Joselle arriving, them filling up the pool, my water breaking over the toilet, laboring/trying to push in the tub, appreciating the suggestions Erin gave that helped me move forward in the pushing stage, and then after much time and depleted but determined effort on my part, meeting my beautiful daughter. In the moment there were so many times I felt like I couldn't keep going, but she and Joselle really helped me push through into the end and helped assist as needed through the last stages. We didn't know the gender until birth, and she made sure that we had full control over that process. It was such an amazing moment. As a first time mom, I listened to and read many birth and homebirth stories to prepare, but you really just don't know what to expect. I'm so grateful for the experience and being able to accomplish it. It was so incredible and beautiful, and I wouldn't trade it for anything because now I know what I am capable of. I ended up delivering on land, and most of those photos are not suitable for the internet, but I'll share some others. Postpartum care started immediately. They take care of you for as much time as necessary and make sure you are all settled in the moments after having your child. It truly was a great transition to motherhood. She's already visited us a couple times to check on me and our daughter. Nothing compares to this sort of treatment and care. You surely won't get this personalized care from your provider in a hospital. We are so happy we chose Erin as our midwife for this miraculous experience, and we surely will be using her next time we embark on this journey again. Thank you, Erin!

Erin is an amazing midwife! I'm so lucky to have been able to work with her during my pregnancy and…read morethe birth of my son. I contacted her when I was already four months pregnant, which is apparently pretty late because you need to retain midwives very early in a pregnancy, but she had one last available spot during my birth month. She answered all of my questions during an initial interview and I immediately felt comfortable with her, and confident that my son and I would be in good hands. I had handled my care through Kaiser up to that point but switched to Erin shortly thereafter. We had regular appointments each month throughout the pregnancy where she came to my house, and more often closer to the birth. She spent at least an hour with me during each appointment and I felt like I had much more personal care than when I was at Kaiser where I saw someone different at every single appointment. I don't have much to say about the labor and delivery because I went through the birthing process unexpectedly quickly, with the help of my doula who is my sister-in-law, and Erin only arrived in time to see my son's head being born. Thankfully, her instincts had told her to leave for my house sooner rather than later so she arrived before he was technically born, but if she had waited, expecting the delivery to take as long as the typical first birth, she would have been too late. All of the care after the birth was great. She took care of my son, checking to make sure everything was fine, and checked me as well. It felt like a much more intimate experience, as it should be, than what I assume hospital births are like. Erin also cared for us through the next few weeks after the birth. My husband had been skeptical about a home birth compared to a hospital birth from the beginning but he was incredibly impressed with the whole process as well, and now highly recommends the home birth process to anyone who asks. My doula/sister-in-law had home births with another midwife years ago, so she was familiar with the process, also since she's now a doula, and told me that she was impressed with Erin's professionalism and knowledge. My little family is very lucky to have found her and if I have another baby, I will definitely contact Erin right away to start the midwifery process earlier.

Approximately six years ago, I attended a birth in which a beautiful spirit, Chula Doula,…read morebrightened and heightened the birth experience with her loving mannerisms and charm. I immediately was drawn to her gentle ways of being, moving, and methods of sharing birthing knowledge. Her words embraced my heart and I immediately knew that she was a gifted doula. In time, I discovered that Chula Doula was not an ordinary doula, no; she was a compassionate body and sexual healer, a radical reproductive health educator, a pregnancy masseuse, an herbalist, and an expert birth worker. Since then, I have attended numerous of Chula Doula's workshops on reproductive health. She provides a comfortable and radical space to discuss the reproductive anatomy, self-examination, and sexual pleasure in ways never taught or discussed with me before by gynecologists and others in the health field. Through her teachings, I became visibly acquainted with my internal reproductive system. Who would have known? I now embrace the Power of my vagina. Aside from building a relationship with Chula Doula through her community involvements in creating spaces to explore and discuss reproductive health in which I support 100%, I outreached to her for birthing guidance a few years ago. I was 34 and pregnant at the time with my second child after almost 15 years (son's age). I had no clue to what my birthing options really where or the manner on how to approach these options. I too was clueless on the various healthy prenatal options like vitamins, iron and calcium sources, and other supplements that were available to me which aligned with my philosophical dietary patterns. She welcomed all of my questions via phone, text, email, Facebook, and person-to-person contact. Chula Doula really nurtured my pregnancy, my womb, my body (prenatal massage and body care), my spirit, and my mothering abilities with her positive outlook and expert advice. What made and makes Chula Doula shine and unique is that she too is an artist, which I forgot to mention above. After my birth, like a surgeon, she arrived with an icebox to transport the placenta to her home kitchen where she first created several placental art prints, then separated the amniotic sac and the umbilical cord from the placenta to prepare for encapsulation, tincture medicine, and birthing memorabilia. I was gifted with placental art, postnatal placental pills, rubbing amniotic sac tincture, and a beautiful dried umbilical cord shaped into a heart. From time to time (mostly in moments of despair and/or anxiety), I take these pills and my goodness...magic. Real medicine. I have shared much and tried to broaden my experiences working with Chula Doula and in all honesty, every time we come into contact, this beautiful spirit enlightens me with so much knowledge! Most recently, I learned how intricate the relationship between menstrual blood and land is and how this connection brings us closer to each other through blood extractions and water. Bit of history for context, I've had two home births however, with my first birth - my midwife unfortunately did not provide the quality of care I needed to heal properly. I was told I didn't need stitches when in fact I did. This set me up to have the worst pain for over 3months, delayed healing and yes I did express my concerns to the midwife so it wasn't like she wasn't aware. I genuinely never wish this sort of pain or service on anyone! Which led me to praying tons and searching for someone else that can properly care postpartum. By the grace of God I had met Jenna right after my first birth. Jenna helped me encapsulate my placenta from the first birth. She was the absolute sweetest, who provided the tablets on time with the cutest packaging, communicated so well and was very empathetic. Lucky for me, she was on her way to earning her midwife license so when I got pregnant the second time, she was the person I sought out. What was very telling of her level of professionalism is that she listened to my concerns, provided assurance and executed excellence as a midwife provider when I needed the most help (post delivery)! She didn't brush off my concerns or dismiss me when I expressed what I've been through, emphasizing what I really would rather not experience again if possible. In conclusion, I have healed so fast (within less than 3weeks) with this second birth, I still can't believe it! And it's all thanks to Jenna and her assistant Carla that made that possible! I get emotional (in a good way), just thinking about how blessed I feel for having such a beautiful experience with Jenna. It sincerely felt like a girls day out every visit, I mean c'mon! Not to mention my toddler loves her so much, he wants to leave with her every time he sees her! Lastly, I did get my placenta encapsulated by Jenna and consuming the tablets. Thankfully, am feeling better than ever and taking care of my two kids under two without having any blues! I've been recommending her services to people and will continue to. Thank you so much for the best experience ever Jenna, you restored my faith in midwife's after what I'd been through.
