I'm glad to see that the number of hip-hop clothing boutiques in the Twin Cities is increasing…read more Before online shopping became popular -with websites like Digital Gravel, Karmaloop, MLTD- getting fresh hip-hop gear required "knowing" somebody. But now "Things Done Changed." (Biggie reference.) Within the last couple years, a handful of new spots have opened up in Minneapolis alone! Phenom is refreshing with its dope two room setup, wooden floors, and tees that hang from an automated and revolving rack above. (Like what drycleaners have.) They also carry a small selection of sneaker classics like Nike Air Maxes, Jordans, and New Balances (the non-Grandpa kind), some interesting caps (both snapback and fitted), and original sweatshirts I've never really seen online. I'm not really a fan of their selection, but I can see how some peeps dig it. Aside from the gear, the customer service could be better. I saw one Nike Air Max and got a staff member to get it in my size. I found that it didn't fit and tried chatting with him a bit. He seemed disinterested in trying to sell me anything and left to talk to the shorty at the front of the store. At other boutiques, the staff usually tries to hustle me. Kinda surprised. Again, I love Phenom's dope space and can appreciate their gear, but the customer service could be better.

Beautiful ground up conceptual design with their Phenom cloud logo emblazoned across the racks, counters, and their own personal clothing that they manufacture in the back of the shop. So sick! Much love for this shop and always stop in to see their new gear whenever I'm in the area. Pricy for some of these products because of their brands, but it's well worth the pricepoint if you are savvy in the streetwear game and understand what you're actually looking at! o.O

Disappointed. Call me "old school" but greeting me when I walk in the door goes a long way. Hey,…read moreeven an acknowledgment! We walked in the door, to a shop devoid of any other customers, and then were completely ignored by 2 salespeople who were obviously in a personal conversation about something more important than us. I have worked retail for over 10 years and know the importance of professionalism and good customer service and it starts with the basics. Needless to say, our wallets never left our pockets. We marched over to Martin Fitzpatrick and were blown away by not only their product, but the kindness and politeness given to us by their staff

If my fiance were less of a man-beast (he's too tall for most clothing in general), if I physically brought him here and if I hid all the price tags, I like to think he'd shop here too. (What can I say? My fiance is a classy man who describes his look as "artfully disheveled." We all have our strengths.) In addition the the mostly American-made and Nordic clothing, they have some fun accessories for biking (leather 6-pack holder that I got my fiance for his birthday one year), camping (HOODED WALKING SLEEPING BAG SUIT?!?!) and some great home decor items like a woolen badger face pillow that I want in my house really badly. Also, the Faribault Woolen Mills blankets. Gimme. Dem. Blankets.

If I were to come back to the twin cities, I would be sure to stop into the Cat and the Cobra! Locating the store was a little harder than anticipated. It is in the back of the parking lot behind the locked door, but it is the first door inside the building. Not to mention the cool vibes and architecture of the building. I highly recommend walking around and checking it out. There was an amazing selection of any article of clothing you were looking for. I would say the majority of the items were typically priced. Some articles hanging were a little overpriced, but the best part was the bins in the back of the store! I found two shirts in the bins that were $5 each! It was a STEAL of a deal for vintage t-shirts in the condition they were in. I got one ESPN shirt and a Strigus 2006 shirt. Not to mention how fun it is to shift through bins to find those hidden gems of shirts. In addition to a more expensive rainforest cafe t-shirt that was hanging on the walls of shirts. Overall, the service, selection, and value of the store and its articles were top-tier for vintage thrift! I highly recommend stopping in!

There was a bin in the back that was lower cost but it was mostly sweaters and shirts that weren't my style and not what I need at the moment. Nothing to bring me back here honestly but there are certain types of people that would love this. Prices seemed steep but it's vintage and they can get away with it.
