One thing I love about this place is it's less than 10 minutes from Lake Naconiche. (That lake is a bass fisherman's dream) This place has great cabins and numerous RV spots. There's also a nice pond (mini-lake actually) on the premises where you can fish, kayak, and swim. It's stocked with Largemouth, Crappie, Bluegill and Catfish. It's a strict C&R pond. The cabin we stayed in will house a small family comfortably. The cabins come with fully functioning kitchens (with dishes and cookware) and are kept cool in the summer with multiple air conditioners. Renee (one of the owners) is always available to answer questions or provide you with help to insure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. If you're looking to getaway for the weekend, this is the place to stay. You'll enjoy the comfort and great scenery.

The gardens were created in the 90's and encompasses more than 8 forested acres along Lana Creek. It features more than 7,000 evergreen and native azaleas (more than 500 named varieties), Japanese maples, camellias, and other unique plants. It is one of the most diverse azalea collections in the United States. The trail that leads through the garden is paved and about a mile in length. There are many benches along the trail inviting you to stop, sit down, and enjoy the trip. The day we visited was an unusually cold and wet day for early April. The severe storms that had rolled in over the last couple of days really did a number on the blooms. Even with that, it is a very beautiful and calm place to visit. It's hard to believe no one has written about this place before now. Will I return? Definitely when back in this part of the world.

They have activities for kids, competitions for all ages and programs such as cooking presentation and film screenings. The main highlight was going to a farm and picking fresh blueberries. Me and my friend planned a whole itinerary for the day and you really can spend a whole day at nacagdoches! I managed to try a few restaurants in the area as well as get some chipotle sauce and blueberry cobler and blueberry lemonade! It was a 2.5 hr drive from Houston! We got there exactly at 8am and got great parking at the church and people were already lined up for blueberry pancakes!! Also shuttle tickets to farm got taken fast!!! At 9am we got a time slot to farm at 12:15pm. I suggest you get shuttle ticket first thing getting there. By 11am or even 10am tickets will no longer be available!! Volunteers were plenty!! They had a lot of free ice cold water bottles until the end of the day which I thought was an amazing priority to keep festive goers hydrated!! The sweet shoppe was a very Cute and relaxing little stand in the bank!! Expect to overeat and if you get extra time I recommend driving to the mize garden!! It's a nice little hike, could easily spend about 40 minutes there! Take some bug spray though!

This would be a great place for a small event or to especially visit in the spring or fall in Texas. The venue is a nice outside garden type of atmosphere with a pavilion set with tables for eating pizza and tasting wine. We will go back when the weather is a little cooler.

She renovated a downtown Nac building and uses it as her studio. She is very friendly and you can stop by to check out her work. Nancy paints in the impressionistic style and the three paintings I bought were all oil on canvas. I have downloaded pictures of the paintings. Five stars for the artwork that is very pleasing to the eye and the effort/investment to make downtown Nac a better place. I'll check in with her soon to see what she is working on.......
