Outside of the pedestrian menu options, they give you a menu of the day's beef, an assortment of sharing rib eyes, porterhouses and chateaubriands, with the size and recommended number of people very clear. Our ribeye (cote de beouf) was incredible, cooked perfectly as ordered with a great char. Nice wine list with good options by the glass, 500 ML carafe or bottle. The only downside was a very, very limited number of starter options. Also nice to get out of the tourist area but stilll only a 10 min walk from the city centre. Hope to get back to Oxford again for another visit.

Well, clearly I didn't get the memo on Cabrera, this place was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious! I was a bit skeptic at first just based on the fact the waitress was an older lady and there was some confusion when we asked some questions regarding the menu, but I was wrong. My friend and I shared the steak selection (£48 for 2 people) which came with Sirloin, Fillet and Ribeye. 2 steaks of each per person. We then ordered 3 side dishes to share between us - dauphinois potato, triple cooked chips and a portion of asparagus. All of it was cooked to perfection. The knife went through the steak like butter, the chips were delicious and the potatoes so tasty and the asparagus was perfect. I was getting quite full, with 3 steaks to eat, but I didn't want the meal to end, it was so delicious. The portion of chips was huge! We couldn't finish them. The potatoes were just addictive, I would happily have eaten it all over again. The restaurant soon filled up and I was actually really surprised at how busy it got. I naively didn't think that people frequented these local restaurants too often, but the place was really busy and according to our waitress, that was a quiet night! If only I could afford to eat here all the time! With it being a steak restaurant the price is more expensive than say going out for an Italian meal, but it was most definitely worth it. I can't wait to tell all my friends and colleagues and encourage everyone to go. I can't wait to go back. Cabrera is definitely a local gem.

I mention this because we have some amazing steak restaurants in SoCal. The restaurant had several families dining, and had a nice level of background chatter. Our chef took the time to come speak with us, recommend cuts of beef and generally go over our options. This was a lovely surprise as this rarely happens. We started with "fall off the bone" ribs and the Hallumi - (squeaky cheese - wish I could find this here in SoCal... if anyone reading this knows a place... please let me know!) We ordered rib eye steaks, I had the filet... with sides of creamed spinach/truffle fries and Mac and cheese. Everything was cooked to our liking, and the chef came back out to check on us. We actually ended up going back again just because the food and service were great. Look forward to visiting again! (Oooh... if you go, ask for their salts.. I liked the Merlot infused one)

It's situated about the Royal Thai restaurant so have to enter the Thai restaurant, turning left and go upstairs to get to the steakhouse. Its nicely decorated and the tables are well-spaced. There's also a nice bar area with a glass floor which is really interesting! There's a large outdoor area overlooking the bay which would be great in the summer. We ordered the deep fried brie to start (and share) and it was really well done. We obviously both ordered steaks for our mains - we got one sirloin and one fillet - both cooked rare. They were great steaks and cooked to perfection. It was also just the right size for one person and it was very filling. We also ordered some side dishes - we both particularly liked the Parmesan, black truffle oil fries which were absolutely delicious! I'd go back just for them! We had the cheese board for desert and it didn't disappoint though as always, i would have liked more cheese. We paired this with a nice glass of port from their selection of 3/4. The wine is reasonably priced and the service was brilliant. The staff were attentive and knowledgable and very courteous; they even ordered us a taxi for when we were ready to leave. I really liked this restuarnat and I can't wait to visit it again.
