Heliot Steak House - A Great First Night in London! For our first night in London, we went to Heliot Steak House because it's located inside the Hippodrome Casino. I expected to pay top dollar for steak because of its location, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover their pre-theater menu at a very reasonable price. For €29, they offered a three-course meal with a glass of Prosecco--a great deal for delicious food! The service was exceptional. Our servers name was Asmita. We were celebrating two birthdays, and I had requested a table overlooking the casino, along with a candle on dessert afterward. I was pleasantly surprised by how well they accommodated our requests, especially since we arrived about 10 minutes late. Our table overlooked the casino, and we were impressed by how elegant and sophisticated everything looked despite the lively atmosphere below. With the Magic Mike show bringing in a huge number of female guests and plenty of bachelorette-party energy, things could get pretty rowdy! Yet Heliot itself remained calm and elegant despite all the chaos happening around it. For appetizers, I absolutely loved my octopus. The others in our group had the salad and meatballs and thought they were just okay. We all ordered steak, with different sides, and everyone agreed the steaks were excellent. Each was cooked exactly to the person's preference, which is always a big plus for a group. For dessert, there were three choices: red velvet cake, sorbet, and ice cream. The frozen desserts were especially fun--they came with three scoops beautifully presented on top of a block of ice. And, just as requested, they brought out desserts with a candle for each of the birthday celebrations. Overall, Heliot offered a nice, elegant atmosphere, a great setting, excellent service, and surprisingly reasonable prices considering the location. We would definitely recommend Heliot Steak House and would happily return! read more

Pre-theater 3 courses for 29 GBP is quite the deal. I really enjoyed the Apple & Caramelized Pecan salad and the red velvet cake. The steak which I had done medium rare is a cheaper cut and chewy even at medium rare. I was in and out in about an hour. Service was good and 12.5% service charge included automatically. I'll definitely do this again before seeing a West End show. read more

I think the food was well cooked, the service was great. I came here with my mom and I thought it was a little noisy, so I told the host we're gonna leave and try another place. The host offered to change our seat to a different area, I agreed. That was very nice of him. The new location was great. The restaurant is in a casino and the hotel is on top. There is also shows onsite as well. Since I was with my mom, we passed on the show. The waiter Paul and the person he works with was so nice . He was very attentive. The manager at the time also came by to make sure we were okay. The restaurant is over looking the casino and we had a special which was steak, lobster and Prosecco. Also the restaurant is in beginning Leicester square (Piccadilly are)z reminder they charge for sauces, just heads up, that was the reason for 4 stars versus 5 stars Ps. There is a security check when walking in. Coats and bags are ticketed, you must be 18 years old to enter because of the casino.. you will be carded. read more

I am steakhouse snob and went to Heliot expecting to be come back very negative. Overall, while the experience is not at the same level as Hawksmoor, it is not far off and much more reasonably priced. First, the service is as good as any place in London. The server was friendly and kept my water full and cleared dishes quickly without being in my space (I was dining solo). My starter, the dressed cornish crab, was okay but probably will order something different next time. Found a tiny piece of shell, not the end of the world but interrupts the experience. I really enjoyed my steak, the large ribeye, and it matched with steaks at other top steak houses. Cooked perfectly just as ordered with a nice char. I also found the spinach with shallots very good, much better than I expected (I go to a steakhouse for the steak). The steak did well despite their not having two of the three bone in cuts (really should not happen). The steak and service earn Heliot five stars. read more

This is the best Filet mignon we have ever had. And we have traveled to many countries. But you they do have a smaller size portion filets. So you need to order Chateaubriand it is served on a very hot stone so it cooks while in front of you. The service is also amazing our waitress was very attentive never had a glass empty. Heliot Steak House @ The Hippodrome Casino, Leicester Square - I wish I could see it as a compliment when I have to battle with someone over my age to buy alcohol, gamble or in this case, enter a casino. I went not to gamble but to dine in Heliot Steak House restaurant which happens to be embedded inside the Hippodrome Casino. We were advised to bring an ID but it was not necessary. I did not because I did not think of it - clearly shows that I do not frequent casinos. So, I had a hard time convincing the bouncer that I was well over the legal age limit, even with my wrinkles! Flattered? No, because I am a grumpy sort before my morning coffee. Fifteen minutes later and a friend to the rescue, I was allowed in. Inside, the place was quite eye catching. There were lots of bling, bling lighting. I do not mean that the money from the winnings on the casino table but the neon lights, chandelier, bar, and even the toilet mirrors had frames with light bulbs. I dread to think what they electricity consumption is, but from the customer's point of view, I was impressed with the deco. Showy, that's it and I do like it. Once seated, on the first floor, I'd never have thought for one moment I was in a casino. It does not look like it could, but Heliot can cater for 150 diners. At Heliot, they are known for the great value of USDA prime steak. Or if you are not a big fan of steak there are other dishes from England's favourite, fish and chips, Italian style ravioli and American style dishes. If you still have to wait for a table in the restaurant, there are six bars in The Hippodrome serving American beer and unique cocktails. For this event, we have gathered to sample Heliot's new American brunch menu. On to the food... country fried steak £7.00 - this was something completely new to me. It is essentially breaded fried steak. There were many who were unsure of this dish but I did like it because it was well cooked, fried properly with the crunch and not too oily. The steak was so well done that it could be any red meat, hence many felt like it was a waste of a good cut. It was not tough but just nice. I didn't like the sausage gravy though. chilli fried egg, and bacon bioche roll £7.00 - the favourite of the group. It was simple but appealing. Even the burnt brioche bun was forgivable. eggs benedict £7.00 - a very rich hollandaise sauce, generous amount of smoked salmon but the muffin was a little soggy. side of sausages, bacon and hash browns - the sausages and hash browns were surprisingly good but the bacon was not great. It was meant to be a side dish, but I'd much rather just have this with toast and butter. pancake stack £7.00 - we purposefully left this dish towards the end because firstly it was a sweet dish so it felt more appropriate to end it like a dessert brunch. Secondly, it was my diner's favourite brunch dish and she wanted to save it till the last and end it with a sweet note. But by then it was cold (that was probably our fault for leaving it till the end) and a very soggy bread. It was not as enticing as it looks and was quite a carb loaded dish with sugar. While I felt it was ok, my diner did not approve at all. We enjoyed the event but being in a group of 60, food came out a little slow. I am not sure that Heliot Steak House is going to be my choice of a brunch venue, although very strategically located by Leicester Square tube station. I tend to associate brunch with having more natural daylight, being in tune with the weather and a view of people strolling up and down the high street. I've heard some superb reviews - from discerning fellow foodies - about their steaks at Heliot Steak House, and hopefully I will be back soon to try them. read more

You would never be able to tell a casino is within earshot of this restaurant because the sound does not travel into the dining room. Surprisingly intimate for a open air restaurant. Although there were large breaks between our server checked on us, she was excellent. They have a fun cocktail list but they aren't very strong. I stuck to the wine list and I loved the selection. The food was underwhelming though. To me, I felt as if the theatrics of the items were trying to mask how so so the food is. We all enjoyed our meal but no one loved it. Portion sizes are good and prices are reasonable. Dessert was the biggest disappointment as we got 3 to share and no one liked any of them. The Key lime pie was just like tangy whipped cream in a tart. Ingredient quality is good but the menu can be sophisticated just a bit to reflect a real casino steakhouse. read more

Took advantage of the Bookatable offer with £10 free casino chips and had a really great evening! They even brought out a cake to sing happy birthday to me! Would highly recommend! read more

Last time I ate in the Heliot, I left rather disappointed, poor service and average food. I'm pleased to say that this time the food was back to its best and the service, courtesy of our waitress Emanuelle was tip top. The 'star' deal was rump steak and seafood platter. I would recommend the asparagus as a starter.  Not the cheapest night out at around £50pp including a bottle of wine, taxes and service charge but nevertheless an enjoyable one. Oh Heliot I wish I could give you a better score. Your food (Steak) is amazing, Your location is breathtaking.... however, your staff are a disappointment. The service was appalling (to say it a nice way). The waiter was incredibly rude. He had a rushed attitude,where he seemed not to listen to us, and acted like someone who did not want to work. He was incredibly rude when I asked not to have the dressing (which I was ALLERGIC to) on my plate. He was very dismissive when one of my friends wanted something from a different menu. His attitude had an impact on our meal. Such a shame. I probably wont go there again. read more

American style brunch in a beautiful location - done! A casino is certainly an unlikely place for brunch, but after being introduced to this place at a brilliant Yelp event I had to come back. The interior is beautiful and elegant, furthermore, the service is exceptional. The food was just as good as I remembered and with such a massive portion I definitely left feeling full. I loved the cocktails too, a little expensive, but worth it as they tasted good. I'll have to go back to try out the steak. read more

Helios Steak House has an awesome atmosphere! When waiting for your table, you can spend time at the bar, which has awesome drinks! So yummy! It's a cool place to visit because you can hang out at the casino before and after he meal, which is so fun! However, the food was sub-par. The portions are pretty small, especially for such high prices. The Mac & cheese was great, but the burgers and steaks weren't as good. Overall, a fun place to visit but not a place to go just for the food! read more

I don't normally yack on about service, but I have to here. We have found service in England to be sometimes a little spotty, things like refilling water, checking how things are going, not noticing our madly waiving arms, etc. In the U.S. it tends to be more the opposite, more often with highly attentive service. So, imagine our surprise that we have found our second greatest ever server, Camila, in less than two months (the other was in my review of Hawksmoor Borough). Apart from being perfect in every way, she also recommended a great bottle of cab (Garage Lot 61). And it wasn't just Camila. From the maître d to the other waiters who were happy to help out with other tables, to the hosts downstairs, to the dealers and every member of staff we encountered, they were all perfect. The food was mostly great, but with a few hiccups. As we didn't complain, I am not deducting any points as we never gave them a chance to correct it. We were using a MyVegas 300K deal, and wow, what a deal. We were highly impressed and would come back even without a deal as the prices here are so damn reasonable. Our two starters (smoked salmon and sea bass) were outstanding, with fantastic attention to presentation. Camila brought us some great bread with a tasty complex butter. My ribeye was the usual English thinner than I like, but was cooked a perfect medium rare and was delicious, even more so with the pepper sauce. My GF's fillet was more medium than the requested medium rare (correct right in the middle, but too much grey band on the outside). My lobster tail was perfect, but my GF's, oddly, was overcooked and dry. Also, we were not quite as fond of her chimichurri sauce. The fries were great, the mac n cheese was great (but in the description it said it came with 'poached egg and truffle'. We forgot until we saw the menu again or we would have asked). The chocolate and the millefeuille desserts were an awesome ending to the meal. We went away stuffed. And then won £60 downstairs! So, yes, a few little problems, but nobody to blame if you don't bring it to their attention. We didn't care because it was an outstanding night and we'll definitely be back. read more

outstanding cuisine and staff. this restaurant does not disappoint in any way. the steaks are phenomenal with a range of cuts and countries they come from, went for the 3 steak platter to try a range because we just couldn't choose and I kid you not, best decision we could've made. portion sizes are a great value for money and the knowledge on wines and bubbles the staff have is amazing. the building itself is beautiful and the restaurant overlooks the main floor. 100% need to go again! read more

OMG, who would have guessed that one of the best quality steakhouses resides in the old Hippodrome club now a casino! Luckily the restaurant is high above the casino itself. The quality of the steak is one of the best I have tasted in London, maybe even better than some cuts of steak in Gaucho. They also do great deals on wine and surf n' turf. This review is based on brunch only - I have heard their steaks are gooood! Their brunch however I wasn't the biggest fan of. The country fried steak was the biggest disappointment - steak flattened and covered in fried breadcrumbs; it was tastless just greasy. The egg & bacon brioche roll however was OK - well cooked egg with a runny yolk and a nice sweet brioche bun. The jack stack - a stack of pancakes, french toast and waffle was underwhelming. The french toast was too soggy, the waffle tasted like a packet waffle and the pancakes were OK. For the price I wouldn't be happy with the size of the portions. The service however was friendly but a little slow. All in all I wouldn't venture back through the casino for a weekend brunch when there are so many amazing places in the area. read more

My Boyfriend and I went here on our first date and it was amazing. The atmosphere was that of a club/casino (so don't go here if you want a chilled/quiet meal). The restaurant itself is along what is essentially a large balcony circling the whole room overlooking a casino. The steak was amazing, and I am not over exaggerating to say it was the best steak I have ever had. The only reason why this is 4 star, not 5, is because we were charged for 2 bottles of wine (rather than just the 1 that we had) and when we pointed it out the waitress did not apologise which was odd, because if it was a mistake surely she would have immediately apologised. Regardless, this issue was rectified and we had a fantastic evening. Would recommend this place. read more

After reading raving reviews of this award winning steak house, we decided to dine here on our recent visit to London. The location is very conveniently located next to the Leicester Square Station and a short stroll from Covent Garden. The restaurant is located inside the Hippodrome Casino and we were asked to present our IDs upon entering. Service was decent except for the small hiccup when we asked for tap water and they opened a bottle of still water instead. The food, however, was certainly nothing to write home about. Our steak filets were cooked well but lacked flavor (the use of any salt). The mash potato side had an awful after taste that no one at our table could quite place their finger on. Mac and cheese had an overwhelming taste of strongly aged cheddar. Don't waste your money on the £2 they charge for garlic butter - it's just melted butter with garlic powder. Save your money!! You're better off having a traditional Sunday roast at any well-established pub. read more

Such a shame as this is in such a nice setting, on a balcony overlooking the Casino. Unfortunately, service was slow and disjointed. Menus were taken away given to us at inconvenient times after we had been sat down (I ordered a drink and the drink menu was then swapped for food, despite the fact that others wanted to order their next drinks). The waiter seemed to be the only one serving despite that there were many tables dining. He had difficulty understanding our orders so that we had to repeat things several times and I did get the feeling that he thought we were a nuisance, which is never pleasant when there were a fair few of us eating and drinking! The food was actually really lovely - I had the halloumi burger which had a sweet pepper chutney to die for. They have a pre-theatre menu which offers two courses for about £15 so I probably would try them again if I was in the area before a show. read more
