Edit after manufacturer response: The second hat was definitely not a second hat. It was 100% certainly the exact same hat. Care instructions are in this case irrelevant as I have never worn this hat and would gladly send it in for replacement if your company would cover return shipping as should have been provided in the first place. Also, I shared a review on Google very shortly after receiving the "replacement" which did not warrant a response, therefore I consider this review of your company's quality and value as valid. Completely unacceptable. I ordered a four hundred dollar hat that arrived completely misshapen and unwearable. When I called to remedy the situation, the gentleman didn't seem to believe me. He made me pay fifty dollars to ship back a defective product. Several days after it arrived, I called for a status update, and he told me that he couldn't see anything wrong, and that it was okay for a misshapen brim because the hat was handmade. Handmade American should be a mark of high quality, not an excuse for poor craftsmanship! Utterly disgraceful! Nevertheless he assured me that he would send me a proper product. Alas, what I received was the exact same hat in the exact same shape as it was! At this point I would have been better off to order a Chinese knockoff than pay four hundred and fifty dollars for a poorly made piece of junk! What a waste of money! Argumentative and disrespectful. I telephoned Miller Hats to buy a replacement hatband for my campaign cover, I'm a US Army Drill Sergeant. The man I spoke with was not only unhelpful, and disrespectful, but incessantly interrupted me even after asking him to stop interrupting him three times. Upon the forth time, I simply realized that I was talking with a person who is incapable of respect. Had this "gentleman" been one of the soldiers in my charge, he would be having a truly come to Jesus moment. I don't tolerate disrespect. So, we're done here. I love this place, I'll fly from San Francisco to Houston when shopping for a new hat. They have a large selection of hats from costume hats to custom cowboy hats with fedoras, panamas and Big Apple caps as well as Kango hats to name a few. I ended up purchasing a panama with the teardrop shape keeping with the 1930s to 40s for my taste as well as a brown Big Apple eight panel cap to capture the 1920s- 30s. Everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable and the lady in the back carries out the magic. My understanding is they were originally Wormser from Chicago who ended up in Houston via New Orleans. Not far from IAH so easy for me to fly in and fly out. read more

1 star for the quality control of their hats and for their customer service. Expensive hat should be perfect when it arrives in a perfect box (un-damaged by UPS). But the brim looked like someone sat on one side. I then called them. I was greeted by a man that apparently thought I was calling at the wrong time. Their published hours are 10-5 and I called at 10:20am. He stated they weren't really open yet but he'd do me the favor of taking my name and having Mary call me. He also wanted to blame it on the shipper when I stated 3 times that the box is in perfect condition so then he blamed the humidity or, maybe, it's still the fault of shipping. He also stated that 2 and sometimes 3 people look at the hats before shipping them, as though they couldn't do anything wrong. My answer to that was, well someone didn't do it properly and he replied welllll maybe sometimes people are human. I didn't hear from Mary until after 3pm and it took a phone call, texts, and follow up texts to get her response that she would issue a return label through email. I never received the email. I called the next morning at 10:40 and the same man answered. Upon telling him that Mary was supposed to email me a label and didn't, he went into a speech about Mary won't be in until later morning because she has a doctor's appointment. I cut him off and stated I was talking about yesterday. He replied well, she had good intentions, she'll email you later sir. Later came at 12:45 when she called and asked if an email was ok or should she mail me a return label. We covered this yesterday, an email would be great. She said she'd send it. At 3:30 still no email so I texted her and that became a whole new hassle. She emailed me then but it was a tracking number and Not a return label and barcode that I need to drop it at a UPS store! So then I had to contact her again and she finally sent the right label. Omg at this point! This has been a truly, truly disappointing experience. I'm sad about it and don't even Want this hat at this point. I don't spend frivolous money on myself but this was inheritance money I didn't plan on and wanted to do something nice for myself that I would otherwise never consider spending so much money on. I wanted to have something lasting rather than spending it All on debt so I set this much aside for myself. With such indignant attitudes towards their customers and lack of caring about their quality control, not to mention my impression of how they don't care what time their employees bother showing up at work, their pristine online presence is misleading. With this amount of hassle and the fact that Mary's phone number says Fitness Lifestyle on the caller ID, I was really questioning if this is a legitimate hat store in Texas or a duplicated website and phone numbers for China. It took a week for UPS to return deliver the hat and Miller never gave me the courtesy of letting me know it arrived and that they'd be working on a new hat. I then sent them an email a week after that to inquire about an update. Then another week after that I received the new replacement hat. The first hat fit perfect but the replacement feels tight and a little uncomfortable. I probably just won't wear it much since it's not comfortable, remain disappointed, and I don't have the energy to contact them and go through anymore hassle with this lousy company. Their quality and quality control is horrible. What an absolute waste of $250 and hours and hours of my time and energy! I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

I bought my first Derby from Miller Hats in 2005 after finding the store by chance while driving around on a break from work in downtown Houston. Since then, I've purchased an Open Road, a Homburg (which I wore at our wedding), a Milan Center Dent straw hat, and, today, I bought a Derby to replace the one I purchased in 2005, which met an unfortunate end in a confrontation with a pit bull puppy. The style of the hats compares to the best of the best. While in southern Colorado a few years ago, stopping at a trading post in the Rockies, someone complimented me on the Open Road I was wearing and asked if it was a Stetson. I was happy to tell them it was not a Stetson but straight from Miller Hats in Houston, Texas! And don't worry about having your expensive fur felt hat shipped after purchasing it online. I've bought two of my hats from them online, and they both arrived safe and sound in a secure hat box that I was able to reuse for seasonal storage. Best hat shop in town, hands down. It has a huuuuge selection of all kinds of hats, mostly the ones people used to wear, back when people dressed up and had class. I had a vague idea of what I was looking for and the store had exactly what I was looking for in the size that fit my head. I ended up getting a straw Panama hat with a black ribbon. I could really feel the quality of the hat when I tried it on; it put my J.Crew Panama hat to shame! I couldn't walk out of the store without that hat! The people working there were really nice too and not just nice to you hoping you'll buy something. They gave me an extra large hat box to store my new hat in, as well as a cone to rest my new hat on when I wasn't wearing it. I was even given some foam fitting inserts for a hat I didn't even buy there! If you're looking for a hat, any kind of a hat, this is the first place you should check out. I am a hat fanatic and usually buy out of town or online so I was THRILLED to have a place of this quality so close to the house. In a small building behind another building off Bammel, this place is chock full of great selection in straw and felt. I didn't catch the name of the very helpful and mature sales person but he was incredibly helpful and accommodating to my inability to make a quick decision. I got exactly what I was looking for in a straw fedora and got a feather to boot. I will definitely be back when the weather cools for my next felt (rabbit) fedora. Miller Hats is wonderful. My brother's widow in London left me my brother's hat after he died. It was from a British store called Locke & Co. Hatters that has been selling hats to Brits, including the royal family, since the 1600's. It is called a rollable trilby and my brother got it because he was a diplomat and could roll it up and put it in his luggage, then unroll it and go to his meetings. The hat was looking really sad with the brim all wrinkled and the crown sort of mashed. I was afraid to take it to any place here in Houston because the only expensive hats I saw were cowboy hats. My brother's hat cost £265.00 or over $330.00 US new. It is made of wild hare felt. I saw Miller Hats inventory on his website, and he had many kinds of hats including some that looked like mine. I called Miller hats up and asked if he could fix my hat. He said he didn't know, but I asked if I could email him pics of what it should look like and what it looks like now. He called back and said he could shape it and to come to the store. I went up to his store and they had all the steam equipment and the wooden forms needed for expert hat care. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. I ordered a hat online (200.00+) on May 31. On 04 June the hat was shipped via usps but stopped updating on 9 June as it never left Houston. No big deal. I understand things happen. I called Miller hats around 25 June to inquire about the hat. The lady blamed COVID and said she would launch an Inquiry with usps and would email me the status updates. Two weeks go by and I didn't hear anything from them. I called again around 07 July (a little more irritate) and was upset about the order, but more upset that I never heard anything from them since the first call. The lady looked up my order and assured me that she would get it taken care of. I was still pretty angry and told her I expected to hear from her soon. After a week has passed and I still had not heard anything from them I called again. The lady (same lady from all previous calls) asked me if " I was sure I ordered from Miller Hats" because she couldn't find my order. This is UNREAL!!! i Have never experienced such unprofessionalism from a company in my life. My only solution now is to go to the bank and file fraud. I will make it my personal mission to spread the word about this corrupt company. read more

Sadly, the customer service (at least online) stinks. I've been a Miller Hats customer for many years and always visited their store in Houston. I moved from Texas to Virginia in 2008 and I purchased a hat for $145 from the Miller Hats website on June 2, 2015. On June 5, after I received the hat, I wrote customer service asking for an authorization number so I could exchange it for another style and color. On June 6, I received an authorization number and then repackaged and returned the hat. Later that month I received a replacement hat - but not the one I ordered. On June 21, I wrote customer service again to let them know about the mix-up, to request another return authorization number, and to ask if I could receive a refund for the $145 (because ordering online was proving to be so difficult). I did not receive a reply to my second e-mail. I wrote again on June 27 and July 12 to no avail. Because I didn't receive a response at least authorizing a return of the second hat, I mailed it back to Miller Hats in August. read more

Amazing place to shop. Came in for a teardrop fedora for the upcoming winter. Was immediately assisted until I found the right one. They shaped it to give the crown a certain dimple that I favor. My husband and I can't say enough about this company. My husband needed a cavalry stetson to go with his uniform and we ordered it. The groom changed his mind as to which type of stetson he wanted so we needed to exchange it. The company was extremely responsive and arranged for our return and shipped out the correct stetson. However, in the exchange process, I wrote down the wrong color of band to go on it. When realizing what I had done, we called to try and order a new band and the man we spoke with changed out the bands and had it in the mail in time for our event. Two screw-ups were both our fault completely and Miller Hats was more than gracious each time. We will absolutely recommend them and buy again from them. Thank you! read more
