I went there to have 3 teeth extracted and the whole staff greeted me with respect and made my visit very comfortable. the extractions and post operative time went very well. I check reviews for everything in life. And I did for Oral Miller as well - I tried to assume that the bad ones were just one off situations since this place came as a referral in a Mom group. My initial call to set up a consultation appointment went smoothly; the consultation was good - the doctor a bit abrupt and hast, but kinda took that as a typical doctor doing a mundane consult and probably having another patient waiting... I scheduled my daughters surgery date afterwards & was told the billing coordinator would reach out to notify us of insurance coverage / our portion. I waited two weeks & had not heard a peep. I called the office and pushed the option for billing - each time it went to voicemail. I eventually left a message & waited another day + a weekend before calling the scheduling line to inquire further... I apologized initially for calling that line & explained the above before she started telling me that she was the billing person but she's covering the office. This didn't come across as informational; it was said with a lot of inflection/tones that could be taken anyway except "I'm here & happy to help you." Honestly, she needs some basic customer service training as I received every excuse possible when all I wanted was an answer... a simple "I'm sorry, let me look into this" or a "I need a bit of time but can followup with you by X" instead I heard about their staffing issues and how overworked she is... all I really took away from the conversation was how much she hates her job & how horrible this practice is & when I pushed to get a time/date she would be able to get me an answer she just became ruder. When I hung up, I called another provider - I could tell she answered the phone with a smile, she was readily willing to assist me, easily scheduled an appointment that fit my timeframe & who made me feel like I wasn't a burden. Towards the end I thanked her for being so helpful with answering all my questions & explained my experience that had just occurred with Miller Oral -- she even apologized on their behalf! I later emailed requesting to cancel the appointment; assuming this wasn't received I called today to confirm. It was - I wasn't even worthy of a response. The girl today was helpful & I since I felt this should be addressed with their office manager I asked for their name... and was told her name is Megan; based off the other reviews here I'd be willing to bet Megan would never address my concerns with her boss as I'm fairly sure my previous experience that led me to cancelling was also her. I hope the owners/doctors see this review; as this continued lack or service & professionalism will continue to impact patients & ultimately the business. read more

Stay far away from this place. Husband had a tooth extracted and they left pieces of it in his gum. No follow up, no concern, when he went in for an appointment he had to insist on they looked on the wrong side of his mouth and said nothing was wrong. On his first visit they told me my husbands insurance expired which it did not. I called them to tell them how to verify it, they said they did and would submit the claim. We are retired seniors of a fixed income but they made us pay up front, saying they'd submit a claim once they learned the insurance was still active. 3 months have gone by and they've NEVER submitted anything. We just moved to the area and ended up going to Miller Oral Surgery in Hershey for my oldest daughter's tooth extraction. Dr. Bortel extracted the tooth just fine. As long as you don't ask the staff/office manager Megan questions about the medications they use, what kind of procedure they will perform, or billing questions, they won't send you a letter discontinuing further treatment and discontinuing communication with them, and telling you to contact your insurance company with any issues... then you will be ok. :) Because they have a very long wait to be seen there, any not-so-great reviews probably won't deter people lining up with the lack of dental in the area. It's unfortunate that they can't handle legitimate questions about what they do. I guess they are accustomed to patients not asking questions??? read more

I had a good experience here at Miller Oral Surgery to extract a wisdom tooth. I've been through the extraction process before, but at a different place. Back then I ended up with a dry socket and a lot of pain. So this time I was ready for a similar experience. To my surprise, everything was relatively painless. I only received two small needles and the doctor had the tooth out before I even realized it. All I heard the the clank in the pan and I was done. I was given a post procedure briefing and some gauze for the bleeding, which didn't happen at the last oral surgeon I went to. The gauze was appreciated as I had a bit of bleeding afterwards, but I stuck with the directions they gave me and was able to avoid a dry socket this time. As someone who had a much worse experience elsewhere, I recommend Miller Oral Surgery. read more

I was reffered to them from my dentist to have a front tooth removed that had broken off. The girl at the front desk was rude on a large scale , Insisted she could not make an appt in person I had to do it over the phone , I asked if appts were handled via another service she stated no it would be with us. I posed the question so basically I walk outside the door call you and you make an appt instead of doing it here face to face. Citing BS covid reason, behind her plexiglas shield and mask with my required mask on I said that makes no sense at all. She begrudgingly made an appt for literally 2 months away. I called another place polite lady explained everything and I have an appt tomorrow for an initial consultatio n , I would not take my dog to this place based on the service I recieved in simply trying to make an appt ... customer service ???? I must say that the people here at this office were very nice to me. I had to go in and get 3 teeth surgically removed. I didn't have to sit around and wait to long for my appts once I got there. Everyone was great and friendly. They even gave me an advance estimate on the cost of my surgery and were even aware that they now money might be an issue. They were not pushy or anything. Overall it was a great experience. I just hope i don't have to go back, no offense. Once was enough! Oh and ironically, there is no Dr. Miller there!! read more

Miller Oral Surgery was one of the best dental practices I have ever been too. Dr. Andrews did my surgery and was very pleasant and thorough in what he did explaining everything as he went. Was never in discomfort during my surgery and aftercare was provided. First class place and staff is very friendly. Definitely the only place I will ever have my dental work done. Easy to get in and get teeth out. NO follow up provided. Left in pain with two dry sockets (from blood thinners?). Told not to come back as packing did not stay in. No offer to change packing, or information on how to pack for myself at home. Once they are paid, consider yourself gone. read more

Ok this office is a tooth factory I received 3 phones calls prior to my sons surgery informing me that I had an out standing balance. But they hadn't done anything yet. I was never once offered the payment plan that is so boldly displayed in the office window. The receptionist was nasty upon arrival after driving four hours to get there on time I said good morning and the only thing I got was " you have an outstanding balance" AND GOOD MORNING TO YOU TOO!!! After the Friday morning procedure the recovery nurse said I will call a bit later to see how he is doing. By 4 we had questions and called only to be told they left for the day and there was no one to talk to. This factory got PAID IN FULL, and maybe this won't make a difference but just be aware of their policies and personalities. read more

They are rude. They will not keep you advised. The person Jennifer is of the rudest person you will ever meet. She is one of those people that have their days. The way to get them is go somewhere else. My procedure was estimated at 4k. Im kinda glad that they were rude. read more

I recent brought my daughter here to get a tooth pulled. This was not my first time coming here, but it will be my last. The front desk staff were very rude and short with us. The office itself is okay, nothing special just a normal dentist office. They only seem to be concerned with getting the money from the minute you walk in the door. If the papers aren't filled out the right way, they acted like they were pissed off at us. NEVER AGAIN. This place use to be the place to go back in the day, not sure what happened but look somewhere else. read more

I should have known prior to having three wisdom teeth extracted that I should have gone somewhere else. It started with a huge amount of money due on the day of extraction, which was only corrected the day before the surgery (they had three times billed by health insurance and not my dental insurance for the services...and fixed it only after I brought it to their attention that this is what happened. They denied it, but I had ecplanation of benefits for their mistake). I will say they got me in quickly and I did not have to wait on the day of the surgery. However, thank goodness for my boyfriend, because after the surgery I was rushed out ridicliously quickly. I do not remember a single thing from the time I went out until I was almost home, which means I did not comprehend a single post operative instruction. From the time i walked in until I was in the car was an hour....for a surgical extraction with anesthesia. I experienced a lot more pain than expected (which is my fault for waiting to get my teeth out in my late 20's). So when I called a few days later to see if this was a normal healing process it took 5 calls to get an appointment. I was left a message telling me I had to call the hershey office since my surgery was there. I did so and said I need to be seen in Harrisburg because that is where I live. After the most rude calls ever I was seen. I had a 2 minute appointment where I was told I'm fine and just deal with it. I did not get to ask any questions or ask what symptoms should make me nervous. It is now two weeks after surgery and I am still in a lot of pain, and I would never call them again if I had not developed Thrush, for which I need a perscription from them. I did not call them through a ton more pain, ear tubes swelling and other strange symptoms that I was able to do some home remedies and they have subsided. I called yesterday and received the same 'call hershey' message this morning with a number. I have called the hershey number 10 times and it does not work today (strange because it has worked in the past). I have called back to tell this this twice. It has been hours without a call back. Unfortunately I cannot treat the Thrush myself and I still have some questions about my healing as I am still in a lot of pain and the medications are causing digestive problems, so I cannot be on them much longer. All in all this is absolutely the worst experience I have every had with healthcare ever. I would never recommend this office as they are incompetent and just rude. read more
