If you're a local or just visiting Houston, Miller Outdoor Theatre is definitely a must visit! Took my kids here last Friday AND Saturday to take advantage of seeing some free shows (FYI all shows are free) Friday was a light crowd, plenty of space on the lawn. You can reserve your tickets 10am on Fridays on their website however tickets go FAST! I prefer the lawn it's space for my kids to run around and we can spread out on a blanket and bring food, drinks and snacks. SMOKING IS PROHIBITED! Which one guy on Saturday decided to break this rule. Lawn chair are permitted to use. I prefer Friday night events as opposed to Saturday nights because Saturdays are CROWDED. Also parking can be a nightmare. However it's great family fun. There are restrooms available they also sell snacks and beverages (I bought a bottle of soda for $4!! Definitely bring your own food and drinks)

This is such a fun place! My mom and I stumbled upon it during our visit to Houston this fall. I love the outdoor concept. We sat on the grass, but seats are available too if you preregister. We watched Rumpelstiltskin, and it was such a good show! There was lots of singing and dancing and you could tell everyone was having a great time! I will definitely come back here when I'm in Houston!

We got to see the balliwood live show and it was a new experience since that was the first time actually seeing the show on the outside like that! We got to put some blankets and prepped some snacks and drinks so we had a good friends time with all non alcoholic beverages of course! :) Good place good service! I had a fun time

We had a chance to walk by this outdoor amphitheater while visiting Hermann Park. It has permanent seating under a large canopy, with a large grassy area in the back for people who want to sit on lawn chairs or just lay on mats while listening. There was no event happening at the time we passed by, but it was clear what a nice place it would be for an outdoor concert. My nephew was our guide and told us that he had recently had a night time picnic on the 4th with his friends, and had a wonderful time. The orchestra playing patriotic music, with large fireworks thundering in the sky, made for a great night. Making a note to come here if ever in Houston for the 4th of July.

One of the best outdoor activities that is free and fun! They do jazz, soul, pop, choir, dance, etc and you can dance and sing as wild and loud as you want. Everyone is welcome here and it's a blast!

Miller Outdoor theater is an amazing free venue for Houstonians. Sind is good and well organized. The CAL is fantastic and doing a great job with the music. Eight excellent musicians on stage!

Free you say? I'm in. Throw in a chance to catch a concert or concerto from a grassy knoll with downtown looming large in my peripherals and a nice evening land breeze under the stars? Priceless. Park by McGovern & walk if you want a space, sometimes zoo lot. Bathrooms nearby, beer prices too high, and don't forget a blanket or the ants will make you cry!

Free concerts all summer long, the quality of the sound is amazing, perfect to bring a blanket some snacks and hang out with friends.

They always have a lot of events going on here. It's a nice space to hang out with friends and family. I've occasionally seen food trucks. There's also a concession shop nearby. It's really nice here.

What a great space for outdoor concerts!... and did you say free??? I had a wonderful time at the Jazzy Sunday concert, the venue location was changed at the last minute due to anticipated rain, but it could not have worked out any better. Although it was very well attended, it did not feel overcrowded, there was plenty of room to stretch out and maybe get to know a new neighbor. Parking was a breeze, I was dreading the walk but it actually was very simple. I love that people came prepared with picnic baskets and anything else to make them comfortable , the atmosphere was lovely, it made you want to get up and dance in the fresh evening air. I must make this a regular hangout

I have removed 1 star due to the unfortunate experience I had via their expensive hotdog. This is a warning to everyone here.. the banh mi hotdog tastes like a**. omgagod... it literally tastes like evil. I have never had anything like it, and I've eaten at dozens of Vietnamese restaurants in my life. It's not only the pickled veggies on it that seemed to have marinated in something really awful, but it's the weird smoked? flavor given to the hotdog. I considered sending it back but opted to just make the best of the movie. Do you like the hotdog? If so I'd like you to post an opposing review because I can't imagine someone enjoying it. And since I am here... I get the gratuity is included but the wait staff never came back to clear dishes, and maybe it's because they will only come if you press the button? If that's the case it was not communicated to us, and when the wait staff went by us to serve our neighbors maybe it would be a good practice to check in quickly with other people in the row while they're there? That's it. Will return. Will never order hot dog again.

I've been enjoying going to opening preview night of each of these shows, there's something really different about seeing the first live performance for each production. Seeing the directors and producers all watching their hard work come to life, the roaring standing ovation. It's a great place to be at! I believe this was the last performance of the show. Shes a Houston icon. It was a story of her life, told thru Houston Ballet dancers and other amazing actors. It was authentic, and showed a black woman's plight of becoming one of the best dancers in the US, her perilious journey through addiction, and her life now. It was centered and focused on her voice, and it was beautiful story that should be heard by many Americans, not just the black community. Bravo Lauren Anderson!
