The Riot comedy club is a good spot to catch a show. The service was great. You scan or code pull up the menu and the servers bring everything to you very promptly. It is not a big space so it is really great for crowd interactions with performers. I had the chicken lettuce wraps, really good chicken salad mix with loose butter lettuce leaves, delicious. Drink minimum per guest is 2 which is standard at most places I have been to. This is a great spot to check out a show the staff were great the service eas awesome! read more

I laughed a lot throughout the night--the comedy was definitely on point. The comedians did a great job and kept the energy up the whole time. Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn't match the experience. Everything felt overpriced for the quality. I paid $10 for a tiny brownie that tasted store-bought and was so dry it literally stuck to the roof of my mouth. I'd definitely recommend eating beforehand, because the food just isn't worth it. That said, I still had a great time overall thanks to the entertainment. If you're going for the laughs, it's worth it--just don't go for the food. read more

Went here for a valentine's day comedy night & I had a great time. Because there is a bar downstairs there isn't much in the way of a comfortable waiting area before the show. I love that you can order your drinks from your phone. I was in VIP which is the closest seating from the stage(but didn't give much else). I will say save yourself some money & get general admission or reserved seating the talent did work the room rather than just VIP for crowd work time. The show was funny most of the comedians were hilarious We may return but maybe on a less packed day. read more

Came here while in town to see my sister Paris perform. The club itself is kind of what you would expect from a small comedy club. The food was not that great. The drinks were great and strong. The comedy show was great and the comedians were all funny. The staff was also extremely nice and helpful here. read more

Came here to kick off a bachelorette weekend. Seating was intimate and close. Menu is mainly bar food but drinks are strong and the comedians were really good. It wasn't more than an hour and a half but we really liked it and it was a nice start to the weekend! Recommend for a fun chill evening out. read more

Located in the heart of Montrose in Houston, came here with a couple of friends on a Saturday night and had a great time. When you enter the venue the comedy club is located upstairs. My friend had bought tickets in advanced and reserved a table for less than $30 for a party of 6. There's a hostess at top of the stairs that guides you to your table. Each table is numbered with a unique QR Code that you scan for food and drinks. When you pull it up the menu is easy to navigate and checkout is easy with built-in Apple Pay support. I didn't see anything appealing for food choices so I stuck with a few drinks during the show. The martinis were pretty good with a variety of gin and vodka maker choices. It does allow you to specify whether you want it dirty or even filthy. I also had an Aperol Spritz and I must say they were pretty damn good. Most drinks were around $13-$20. The show typically lasts about an hour and a half with comics coming in from all over the globe. For the price and the vibe I think this would be a good place to go to if you want a fun Saturday night with friends or a date. There's a few bars walking distance to go to post show as well. There's tons of street parking available around the venue and also a dedicated lot across the street for a fee. read more

The comedy was great. However, the food and drinks were the worst I've tried in Houston. The margaritas tasted like something from a student party--strong, but made with cheap margarita mix and low-quality tequila. The other cocktails were also very mediocre. They charge $18 per cocktail, plus several additional surcharges. You end up paying around $24 per drink before tips. They also require a two-drink minimum per person. Basically, you end up paying about $60 per person for two of the worst drinks you can find in Houston. The service was rude and unprofessional. By the way, the bar downstairs charges about half the price and offers much better quality drinks and service. read more

This was THE BEST thing we did while we were in Houston!! My boyfriend stumbled upon a video on Facebook of a "You Look Like Roast Battle" a few weeks before we were supposed to be in Houston. He said going to a show was the one thing he had to do while we were in town. We reserved tickets & a table online a couple of weeks beforehand. Night of we took an Uber to Rudyards. The security guard directed us to a line inside Rudyards for the comedy show. Once the line started moving we were upstairs in no time. There is a bar in the back. You can either wait in line for drinks/food or you can order via a QR code on the table. We placed an order for drinks & within 5 minutes they were on our table. This place has such a unique vibe. Lots of funny comedians. Just an overall good time! read more

The Riot is a beautiful jewel for those of us that loveee comedy. The Riot Comedy Club held their 2nd annual Comedy Festival and it was nothing less than fantastic! I highly recommend you get your VIP experience tickets, enjoy every show you possibly can for the 4 days and nights and come ready for your back to hurt from all the laughter. The security was great, event was very organized and shit was just awesome. There was so much great talent from all over. Every year I'm in Houston during the festival, I'll be attending. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL COMICS. It's a hard as job that pays in quesadillas but someone's gotta do it. I don't drink so can't rate the drinks but the food at the local bar is disgusting. I tried the fish tacos, took one bite and through $20 in the trash. About the drink... the must've been good because some idiot female next to me in the front one had just arrived (I know because I was there open to close) and was out her damn mind hackling one of the acts. That's the only time security could've stepped up but other than that, show was awesome! read more

The food is good, however it's mandatory you must buy 2 drinks per person. The drinks are WAY over priced, $10 for a lemonade, $6.50 for a Topo Chico, I don't drink. The parking is tough, in the Montrose area, the parking lot does not offer enough spaces. The comedian I saw was great, I don't know if I will return. read more

We went there for a family birthday party. We didn't eat any food, but we did have drinks. They were ok. This place was very busy the night we went. Note: for those with mobility problems there wasn't an elevator. I will say the target audience is in their 20's, so the stairs might not be an issue for them. The waiting area before the show is downstairs, and once your show is coming up, you have to go up the stairs. I liked one of the comedians, but the other 4 or 5 were just ok. The wait for getting drinks was under 5 minutes and I did see waiters serving drinks to the some of the audience. The bathroom condition was probably ok for a 20 year old, but I like mine a bit cleaner and less graffiti. read more

My first time here and it was a good experience. I arrived early and had to sit downstairs at the bar as the previous show was still going. The music selection was good as they played late 90's early 2000's rap and hip hop. This is a very laid back causal bar with a nice mixture of people. Please be aware as the door man doesn't like people standing. He kept stating how you either had to find a seat or stand outside. He gave off little man syndrome and someone that takes their job too seriously. Once we were able to go upstairs and be seated it was a very cool vibe. You order drinks/food from your table by scanning a QR code and it's brought to your table. There's no minimum purchase required like other comedy clubs. The comedians were pretty good, some better than others. I would come back for sure. read more

Writing this review after my first time here-- I loved going to comedy shows in NYC and found this is a popular spot in Houston for that. I've been following on IG for awhile just watching but long weekend is a perfect time to explore I appreciated their system a lot. You buy tickets online. It's upstairs inside Rud'z. We got there about 30 min before our scheduled show time and hung out for a bit as the previous show was still going on Once you're scanned in and upstairs, they have an attendant guiding you to tables or GA seating. I only bought the GA seats but we were able to get a table so that was nice! We did the 11pm show and I wasn't sure how the crowd would be. I love this concept for after dinner entertainment You order through their QR code at each table and put your CC info in then your drinks come to you! It's lovely. 10/10 would do again. Would love to come for dates or with friends. It's a $20 thing to do for fun and you never know what you'll get comedian wise. Oh! I feel like there's unspoken comedy show etiquette and some of the crowd here were NOT getting it. Imagine comedians having jokes ready and then not being able to do their short set cause these randos in the audience interrupting. Phewww. If you're gonna have banter with the comedian atleast be good at it ;) read more

I didn't get a chance to try the food, but it looked decent. There was nothing that particularly stood out. I mainly came here for the laughs and that's exactly what I got. I love the way the comedy club is set up, and the comedians were pretty good. I'm still biased and I do prefer The Secret Group, which is another comedy club in the area, but this place is definitely not bad. I'll give this place another try because I did enjoy myself. read more

Riot Comedy Club is awesome. This comedy club is the first one I've ever been too and it changed my life. I didn't think I liked standup until I started coming here. The other night we saw Adam Ray and he was great. The other times I've come here, all of the comedians are super good, even the openers/locals. Love that you can see some of the biggest name comedians for such a low price, and I love how intimate it is. Everyone is always so friendly too, and the drinks are super good. Small venue, holds about 150 people. If you reserve a table, there's in seat food and drink ordering. Great selection of bar food, different types of beers, seltzers and mixed drinks. Andy Woodhull was a great show, definitely a knee slapper. I would definitely recommend. read more

First time coming to this place, was just trying something new and man Jeff Joe the host is hilarious. They were having a contest where 15 comedians had one minute to do stand up. I left out of there with my stomach and cheeks sore from all the laughing I did. They do serve food and alcohol with friendly staff downstairs. They also play trivia games at the bar which was pretty interesting and entertaining. I will definitely be returning ! read more

I'll give this place a 5 star review because the actual club deserves it. Service, food and drinks were great and you can tell the owner really cares. Now, if you see that Adrienne Iapalucci is a performing, you should reconsider going elsewhere that night. Not only was she just not funny, She was absolutely garbage, over the line rude and disrespectful. So much so that my party and I had to walk out mid show with another table that followed. read more

One bartender ruined a paid vacation trip to see Rich Voss from WI to his show here in TX. My Wisconsin accent and friendliness got me cut off, maybe due to miscommunication. My family and I became a target for him. Which sure, cool I love the humor. But the attitude of the staff here is unacceptable. I'm an Army infantry veteran, spent my time and vacation days to see this guy. The entire experience was ruined once I ordered a drink and one for another person at my table. Absolutely nothing I expected, I warn any veterans and anyone from the Midwest to stay clear of this place. This place ain't right. Also pieces of the ceiling insulation was falling off during the show and landed in my drink. read more

The comedian was funny, and the atmosphere was ok. The comedy club is up stairs, and they advertise a 2 drink minimum although from my experience it wasn't enforced. I order 3 drinks total and nachos. I added beef to it (I think it was beef) and regret it. The nachos would've been great without the added beef. All in all we had a decent time. read more

This was my first comedy show and it did not disappoint!! Great experience. Hilarious comedians! We reserved a table, which was in a very intimate venue/bar. The venue offered food and drinks to be ordered from ur seat, and delivered to you. The food was incredible. Especially The Burger! Highly recommend. After the show, there is a bar downstairs that had a great atmosphere to lounge and enjoy drinks. Would definitely visit again! read more

Really fun night time activity! This was my first time at a comedy club in Houston, and we went for their Valentines special. Definitely a memorable time. They had a solid line up of stand up comedians that were funny and entertaining. I'm not sure if this is an up and coming comedy club, but they did push a lot of promotional material throughout the night (giving away free merch for ig follows, asking for audience participation via DM), it was an interesting way of advertisement. They have a lot of space from just side chairs to reservable tables and a bar. They also have a pretty extensive menu that would be good for a snack or dinner. It was an enjoyable time and would definitely be back! read more

The comedy show was super. Unfortunately if you are not physically able to climb stairs this is not the venue for you. There is no handicap parking either. The staff was kind but at the end of the day a tough spot for those with disabilities. read more

It looked dark, clubbish, and fun (exactly what I was looking for) and I couldn't wait to come here. After a 25 minute Uber ride we were downtown and walking to our destination. At first we could not find it but thankfully a nice gentlemen showed us where it was. Upon walking in, darkness with these bright lights paved our way. We sat down at the bar, but realized dancing did not start until 10pm. The bartender came over and said to us "we have a speakasy behind door #3" we were like WHAT! Let's go. So, we walked down the dark hallway and pushed open door #3 (hence the name) to find this super cool speakeasy bar. Dim lights, really modern decor, comfy suede chairs and best of all, some really great cocktails. If you are ever in Downtown Houston, I highly recommend you coming here. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!

The welcoming team was friendly from the moment we walked in, and the bartender was wonderful. The seats are definitely showing their age and are getting a little rickety. Service was almost nonexistent. The one bright spot was a food runner who kindly pointed us to the QR code for the menu and even offered to bring us a printed menu. He was great. We ordered our movie snacks, but that's where things really went downhill. The popcorn was as stale as stale can be, the M&M's tasted old and a little funky, and somehow my club soda came with about four ice cubes and wasn't even very refreshing. The movie itself was good, and we still enjoyed having a much-needed date night together. Overall, though, it's sad to see this theater slipping because it used to be the place to go. I really hope they can turn things around. In the meantime, we'll be on the hunt for a new favorite theater. I'd love to hear everyone's recommendations!

If you want to go, do NOT buy reserved seats! Both times we went we were seated in GA when we bought reserved table. BOTH times they said Nothing to us & sat us. The second time we asked why & they said "because we have those tables reserved for 'OTHER' reserved table customers--not you. We overbooked". Nothing was offered. Finally, the owner came over after much back & forth & offered a free drink. After that, the Riot manager offered to refund us if we left!!!!! We accepted One drink. They could have handled it so many different ways. Starting with Not telling us we were LESS important to them than their other customers. They could have been honest upfront & offered to give us the difference in ticket price. But instead, they don't care & they just hope you don't know what's going on!!!!! Terrible customer service. Or, maybe they want the people sitting in their reserved seats to look a certain way. I feel if we tried a third time we would AGAIN be seated in GA. They do not care!!!!! They were Rude & acted inconvenienced that we said anything to them!!!! No idea how to run a business or treat customers! This is a regular scam they are running. We talked to others after the show that also bought reserved & sat in back corner GA folding table. The manager told them "they should have bought VIP if didn't want to sit there"!!!!! THEN when show started & VIP tables in the center needed to be filled, they moved the GA people to those tables and NOT the couples who had questioned why our payment was not honored. I attended a performance on the 4th of July. If you want woke and offensive humor, this is your place. Did I need to hear that you didn't consider this the 4th of July and just a Friday? The God D... word repeatedly? Did I need to hear the "N" word repeatedly? Did I need to see a comedian talk about the breasts of women sitting on the front row accompanied by men? Have a girlfriend of a guy and his mother asked if they were lesbians? See a guy get humiliated in front of his girlfriend because of the length of his neck and have his mother asked if she "fu#@ed" a tripod and he could eat his GF's ?u$$y from a closet? Hear jokes about whether Asian people look alike? If you want vulgarity, offensiveness, racism, and irreverence pathetically masquerading as humor, this is your place. As for the inside stage area, it has some nice sound quality although it can get hot due to the amount of people it can pack inside. Ballyhoo! drew quite the crowd which I'm not surprised with. There's a bar in the main lobby area and in each room where it's full bar and a decent amount of beers on tap. Drinks are pricy as it's during shows so dont' expect dive-bar prices when you're planning to get your drink on here. I'll probably be here for future shows should I find any artists that suit my music/comedy tastes.

It's on the far end of a neighborhood plaza, and is easily missed aside from a small neon sign with the bar name. We all love Yelp, but Google maps reviews actually led us here after searching for a dive in the area (maybe a couple more reviews and this would have popped up!) The inside is dark with red light accents just barely illuminating a long bar, pool tables, and a fairly large stage for presumably, live music or a DJ, enough to keep the mood somewhat mysterious and interestingly, a bit satanic. Maybe it was also the large barely-dressed women painted in the walls or the red pentagram in the corner of the room. The bartender was very attentive and even offered one of their more "top shelf" liquors for our mixed drinks, possibly seeing that we were dressed fairly nicely having just come from a dinner. A beer, a couple of tall Jim Beam whiskey diets and two pickle shots because, why not, brought us to $39. Overall, a great find. I'm always on the hunt for a new dive and this did not disappoint.

Red walls, flickering candles, metal on the juke box- wouldn't change a thing. The wall of skulls behind the stage is something you need to see in person to fully appreciate. The red neon pentagram makes for a great photo op to send your mom. Girls- the potty is clean! Which in places like this can be hit or miss. Amazing people watching and a vibe of acceptance and appreciation of the bizarre. Highly recommend the burlesque shows!

Saw Kurt Vile and Being Dead here and it was so fun. The staff is nice, the venue has great…read moreacoustics, and it is such an easy in and out to see a show. My friend splurged on the private seating area and that is so worth it. I sat next to the sound booth on a very comfy couch and could see the stage perfectly. And as all Houstonians know, the most important part is parking and even that was easy peasy. Give it a whirl if you want to see a fun show.
