Two weeks ago, I ordered a custom "University Mom" T-shirt from this local tee shirt shop for my…read moreson's graduation weekend. I specifically asked them to replicate a shirt I already had in a larger size using the same school colors. I gave them the original tee shirt. Unfortunately, when I put it in the next day, the colors were wrong -- violet instead of royal blue. I immediately called the shop and was told I would receive a refund. Since this was graduation weekend and we were taking family pictures that day, I wore the shirt because I had no other option at that point. When I went to the shop for the refund, they asked me for the shirt back but I did not have it with me. It never dawned on me to return a custom made tee shirt. Nor did they ask me to bring it with me when I called to let them know of the error. Instead of simply asking me to bring it back, the owner and employees were incredibly rude, condescending, and argumentative. At one point one employee said "you wouldn't go to Kohls for a refund without the item." Wow! I was spoken to like I was trying to scam them over a shirt THEY made incorrectly. The comments, rude looks, and overall attitude were completely unnecessary and honestly shocking. If someone had kindly said, "No problem, just bring the shirt back and we'll refund you," this review would not exist. Instead, I was embarrassed and treated terribly over what was clearly a misunderstanding. They also tried blaming me for a "short turnaround," even though I had gone into the shop weeks earlier to ask if they could handle the order and they assured me they could. My husband returned the shirt an hour later. Mistakes happen. Wrong colors happen. But there is absolutely no excuse for treating customers the way I was treated. I always try to support local businesses, but after this experience, I will never return.
