Patrick at O.B. Davis funeral home makes statements while family is overwhelmed with shock and grief, and then does not follow through with his words. We ate owed $345. Patrick told us he charged us $4000. Unfortunately we didn't view the receipt he processed that day. We were overwhelmed with emotions and stuffed it in our pocketbook thinking he was true to his word. Not the case at all!!!!!! In fact, we were OVERCHARGED about $900 When we inquired, they did a deduction. BUT. We are still owed money for our mom Elaine. They respond they would like to talk, but never call. Though a lovely little place they were unprepared for the large turnout of a beloved teacher, husband, father, grandfather etc... Very small parking lot. No room for all the cars. For the viewing people had to be snaked through the building and out the door. When I asked if they had speakers so people outside the room could hear the service the response was, " We don't have speakers!" as if I was asking for something strange. I asked about the flat screen TV in the lobby. "Oh, that's just for DVD's". ( Even a baby monitor can feed into a T.V.) Well, apparently there was only one DVD which was being played in the viewing room where no one was watching it because they were busy paying their respects to the family. It took me one hour and 15 mins. to reach the viewing room. This funeral home is clearly not prepared for a large turnout. read more

After tragically and suddenly losing my brother it's hard to even begin the process of planning such an event. Ralph was compassionate and understanding. His professionalism and experience truly helped us plan every detail perfectly and in doing so helped us begin to heal. I am deeply disappointed by the services provided by OB Davis. My father passed away over a year ago. Recently I discovered that all the digital family pictures submitted to OB Davis are still online, on my father's main obituary information page. They are tagged and can be found with a simple search using just my name. I called the funeral home to have my pictures removed. I'm a private person and don't want my childhood or even more recent pictures spewed across the Internet. I called twice and was advised I need to speak with Ralph F.. He did not call me back. Instead, I received a call from Cindy C. I explained the situation and she advised that the entire website would have to be taken down. That is not true. You don't need to remove an entire website to remove pictures. After disagreeing with her, she then advised that the person who signed the papers with the funeral home is the only person who can have the pictures taken down. Essentially, since I didn't pay for the services, my privacy does not matter. I'm guessing when the papers were signed, my father's wife did not realize she was agreeing to posting the pictures in perpetuity. Even if she did, no one asked for my consent. Had I known that the pictures would be posted forever on the Internet, I would not have allowed them to be posted. Please understand when you do business with OB Davis you are really doing business with Service Corporation International (SCjI). They are a publicly traded company with, as of 2017, $20 billion dollars in annual revenues and 1,961 locations in the US. They are headquartered in Texas and are in the business of making money from death. They have it down to a science. They purchase small funeral homes to expand their network and are focused on sales and expanding their business through search engine optimization (i.e., the Internet). Go to their website and their Investors page to learn more about their business strategies, growth potential from people dying and how they sell their stock to Wall Street investors. Per their investor deck, "Our refreshed websites and enhanced search results will support a better mobile experience and provide more local content....and interface with social media platforms". It seems they are the Facebook of funerals and mourning. If you choose to use them just know that the only person who has power in the transaction is the one who signs the papers and gives them money. No one else's privacy or feelings matter, even if you are a family member of the deceased. read more
