Great customer service. Anyone not working on a car will come over to wash your windshield when you pump gas. I had them smog check two of my cars and then do a brake job on my Subaru. They were quick and affordable and did a great job. Nice people to work with. I will return for propane and gas and mechanic work. Very glad to have found them. read more

(Deep breath)..... A couple of things before the update.... 1) I take full responsibility for the end result. Ultimately, it was my daughter's (lack of) action that caused this. 2) I still like the owner a lot. Really good guy. So while spending crazy money to fix an issue with the ignition in my daughter's Saturn (A story in itself) , I decided to have the car tuned up while it was there. Fast forward a few weeks and her car started making a horrible sound. She brought it back to Miller's and the engine didn't have a drop of oil in it. There were no leaks. I started lecturing her about maintaining her car. She took responsibility, but added that she assumed a tune up entailed changing, or at least, checking the fluids. I went to two local repair places. They said that although changing fluids is not a part of a tune up, checking the fluids certainly is. I went back to Miller's and spoke with the guy at the register that's always there. I told him my story and asked if checking fluids is part of Miller's policy for tune ups. He said "No". So again... ultimately our fault. After spending a large sum on the ignition issue, tune up etc, I ended up having to sell it to a scrap yard for $350. Just be aware.... Miller's does not check fluids as part of their tune up. read more

I never thought I would write a review about a gas station. I mean, we've all stopped to fill up thousands of times, but how often does the experience stand out? I was really shocked at the service here. I stopped here the other night to fill up on my way back to L.A. from S.F., and as I started to fill my tank, a service attendant literally sprinted over, cleaned my windows and wished me happy holidays! I couldn't believe it! This is 2012, where service typically comes without a smile, if it even comes AT ALL. Getting your windows washed at the pump used to be a given. Nowadays, you often find some slob sitting in his booth watching TV, who may or may not speak English, and who can't be bothered to lift a finger. I remember my parents and grandparents receiving this kind of gas station service back in the late 70s and early 80s when I was a kid. I must say it was a pleasant surprise in this day and age. read more

These guys told me I had no rear brakes and needed 4 new pads after I brought the car in for an oil change. Price Quote: $450! I knew the rear brakes were OK and they were trying to scam me. When I needed tires a few months later, I took it to the Tire Store in SLO and had them do a brake inspection. They said the rear brakes pads still had some meat and were fine. Cost to machine the rotors and replace the front brake pads at the Tire Store: $150 These guys at Miller's 76 tried to scam me out of $300! Avoid this place! read more

The Chevron or whatever it was was literally 10 cars deep in terms of waiting.The girls and I were like f-this and I flipped a beezy and headed to the next nearest gas station. You have several high school girls in your car who are anxious to get home (and to a quincenera) so I was willing to pay a little extra. No line. Superb. I got both my windows washed (no tipping required) by the 76 service worker. Phenomenal. I was in there and out of there in under ten minutes. Sold. read more

The two pumps closest to the 76 store/cashier (forgot which pump numbers) are FULL SERVICE stops. There are stickers on the top and near the key pad that designate Full or Self-Service. Just a heads up so you don't get charged for that extra rate! Of course, if they have the time they will still clean your windows for free and greet you genuinely even if you are not at the full service pumps. I never thought I would write a review for a gas station, but this station deserves a spotlight for their service and style. - Cash/debit/credit prices are the same. Not markup for credit or debit. - Prices are reasonable, especially being a Union 76 station! - And they are full-service! They will clean your windshield and check your oil. - They haven't converted their repair shop in to a mini-mart. All the service bays were full with cars being worked on. - And the customer service is great. Friendly, courteous, and happy. And that is when they come out to the car to see how your day is going. The owner has 100% brought back the original service station. Kudos! read more

I first took my car to Miller 76 in a moment of desperation after getting completely screwed over at Villa Automotive in SLO. My car broke down and while I was waiting for AAA to send a tow truck, I called around a few places to find out where I should take my car. Most places I called wanted $70+ just to tell me what was wrong. Miller was willing to diagnose it for just over half of that and they let me bring the car in right away. My late father was a mechanic for 40+ years and he called to talk with the owner of Miller about the problem with my car. It turned out that the head gasket was blown and the estimate to fix it was around $1500. We decided to go ahead and let them take care of it, and it was a great decision. It took about two weeks, which was quite awhile, but they beat their estimate and did fantastic work (my dad checked it out as soon as I got back to my hometown). They were also VERY patient with my overprotective mechanic father calling them everyday... The next time I had to take my car to them was just for an oil change. They remembered me and my dad and offered sincere condolences when I told them he had passed away. I was having a slight issue with my car, which they checked for free and reassured me wasn't anything to worry about. The guy was very upfront in telling me that they could run this test and that test and charge me to do all of it, but that they likely wouldn't find anything so it really wasn't worth it for me. I have always appreciated the way they treat me. Not only are they friendly and courteous, they don't treat me (as a small, blonde girl in my 20s) like I'm an idiot. They recognize that I can understand what they're telling me about my car and they don't "dumb it down" or try to trick me. I will definitely be taking my car to Miller 76 for any repair or service while I'm living on the Central Coast. read more

Had a flat on the highway on Sunday. Absolutely nothing open. Called and was told to bring the tire in to see if they could patch it. Within 40 minutes the tire was patched. The hole was pretty big and there was some slight damage to the tire wall but he was able to get it patched so we could get home. Great service and price. Quick stop to gas up before hit the dunes. This location is awesome, attendant is a nice gentleman who comes by and cleans your windshield without asking. Takes all the bugs off so we can see while we 4x4. The price is CHEAPER then the shell & Valero is super expensive. I always get my propane tank filled here, and tonight went to BBQ and the propane tank valve was stuck. I called to see if they were open at 7:30 on a Sunday and the friendly man who answered the phone told me to bring it by. He was able to fix it without charge, was super nice, and wore a mask the whole time which I don't always find around here in the pandemic. Will definitely be supporting this place to fill up my car and get propane! Highly recommend. read more

I origionally brought my truck here for an oil leak which they said was my valve cover gaskets and it would be 450$ so I paid it. After I got it home I put cardboard under my truck to make sure it wasn't leaking anymore and when I checked in the morning I had big spots of oil still coming from the undercarriage. I took it back for an inspection and they said it was the oil pan or main rear gasket. So I had them fix those things because I want my truck to run how it is supposed to 1500$ and 3 days later they tell me to my transmission is leaking and I could use a new one. I replace that. They then had my truck for 3 weeks because they ordered the wrong parts and my truck sat outside not being worked on for 3 weeks not being worked on while I had to figure out how to get around town and back forth to work. Then they try to say nothing is their fault and still charge me 3500$ with no discounts even though they messed up twice and had my truck for 3 weeks. OUTRAGEOUS! don't go here for anything major. Toms auto in AG is worth the waitlist. this place has no sense of urgency or attention to detail when it comes to parts for your car. Never again! read more

These guys are awesome!!! I needed to get my Volvo V70 smogged at short notice on a Saturday morning (on Fourth of July Weekend--7/5/14 actually). My quest seemed impossible, yet these guys were not only open, but were very friendly and fast. But seriously, if you have more money and you just want the smog check done quick these guys are the best. For 99% of average drivers, this is probably the place you've been dreaming about. There are only 2 drawbacks the way I see it. Now this is not to count against them, just their policy and cost of business at such a choice location, I imagine. First off: the price. There is no way I would have gone there if I had time to shop around. This smog check was almost $60 out-the-door. The second is simply a caution: If you suspect you're car might not pass the smog DON'T take it to Miller's 76. They don't run a pre-test (unless you ask for it). It cost's more (I think they said about double, so probably, like $100 total) to have a pre-test done followed by the real thing. If you chance the actual smog test and fail you may be screwed. In that case, try taking it to "Hardy's" (Shell on Grand). He's cool enough about it it, so it shouldn't cost any more. (I don't know if it's an official "pre-test"--I don't know if that's what it's called, but he can check to make sure it will pass before he runs the data to Sacramento.) A bit of perspective/history. First off I was born/raised in the area (AG). I usually go to the aforementioned Hardy at the Shell station at Grand Ave. and hwy 101. He's great (not the cheapest, but very good) and is slightly cheaper (than Miller's 76). (A bonus: that Shell gas station is owned by Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian--the only honest politician who cares about this county, so I like to support him when I can.) BUT, it usually takes a few days to get in on appointment. Once I cheaped out and disloyally went to Central Coast Custom in Grover. That guy screwed up by entering the wrong mileage on my smog certificate. I won't go there again. He was cool about it though...made a correction/note on my receipt. I could have just said: Miller's 76 is great!!! That about sums it up. read more
