I loved all the extra challenges within the main corn maze, like the scavenger hunt and maze within a maze. I'll say, doing the maze in the dark was a lot more of a challenge. I wish I had brought a headlamp, flashlight, or portable phone charger for my phone flashlight. However, the stars and sky were beautiful at night. We couldn't stop looking up! I recommend buying tickets online, they were cheaper than at the door. You could easily add them to your Apple wallet or phone. When we arrived, we walked right up to the check-in booth and staff scanned them very quickly. Off of this, the staff were absolutely wonderful. They were all so kind and I loved how excited they were about the maze. You can tell that the owner has really put a lot of thought into all aspects of the farm, and the experience of the corn maze. I thought the admission ticket was well worth it! If we had come during the day, I would've loved to check out the pumpkin patch because it looked really fun, but the bonfire after the maze was super nice. We loved the hot chocolate also and little snacks for purchase. There were not a lot of food options so make sure to eat before you come! Lastly, make sure you prepare for not having any phone service. No one in our group had any bars with T-Mobile, US cellular, or Verizon. We downloaded the directions ahead of time so we didn't get lost driving home and set a meeting point for our group upon arrival.

My family has been getting our tree at Summers Tree Farm for over 35 years. It's one of the…read morehighlights of the holiday season I look forward to every year. The property is GORGEOUS. The Summers are 2 of the most genuinely nice and friendly people you will ever meet in your life. And the whole experience is one of cherished memories. It sounds cheesy, but it's true. First the property. One of a handful left of its kind- a designated tree farm. No manure smells or anything like that. It's set at the beginning of where the driftless region begins- think gently rolling hills, tall evergreens swaying in the wind, ya it's Christmas Card/ Instagram worthy. You can even see the Capitol in the distance. It really is a special place. The way the property is set up is pretty smart. The parking area, gift shop and pre-cut trees are located in the middle of the property where is kinda like a bowl. The trees are on all sides up a gentle hill. This makes it easier to drag them out. It's easier to walk downhill with a tree rather than up hill, right? Now it's not crazy hilly like you're climbing mountains or anything, but just enough you won't want to wear high heels and flip flops- it is fall/ winter duh. If you think it's too much of a haul, they've got a bunch of workers eager to help for free. They'll saw it, drag it, tie it on , etc for no extra charge. Although if you're at all able bodied there's no reason you can't do it yourself. (Maybe get a few pointers if it's your first time tying a tree to your car.) After you've hiked around (trust me you're going to want to, the place is super pretty) and bailed your tree (free) and had the guys tie it to your car (free) they sell apple cider, hot cocoa, and some food. They also have a quaint Christmas shop. It's basically a Christmas themed Etsy shop. Tons of unique handmade trinkets and stuff you won't find anywhere else. Plus the Christmas shop is toasty warm, so it's a must visit :) If you can't tell, I think this place is pretty magical. Our family will never have a fake tree. Nothing represents Christmas like a Chinese plastic tree sitting in the middle of living room! Sure you could go to Costco and get a $40 dead tree that was cut down weeks ago in South Dakota and have all it's needles drop. Or you can go to this locally owned, family run business and have a bit of an adventure. Spending time with family is what this season is all about. So it's nice to put down the phone/iPad for an afternoon and get outdoors and make some memories.

I happened to come across an article and the original owners co-own a beautiful tree farm in Marshall. They had closed their farm last year to let their trees grow for an additional year to allow for a larger selection this year. They have the greatest set up, providing not only sharp saws, but sleds to pull the trees. They also shake and bail your tree. There's even free hot cocoa and homemade cookies waiting for you when you pay. Highly recommend!!

This is a nice, organized family run tree farm in Marshall. You can cut your own or buy pre-cut…read moreones. The trees are organized in nice rows with grass in between, not tons of mud, and no steep hills to climb. They provide sleds to drag your tree around, or your kids.......or your husband. Inside, when you go to pay (cash or check only) they have free hot chocolate, cookies, and venison sausage. This year we couldn't muster the strength to cut our tree down ourselves, so the nice gentleman did it for us with a compact chainsaw. I'm asking Santa for compact chainsaw. They have several different types and sizes of trees, ranging in price starting at about 35 bucks and up. The cost includes shaking, bundling, and help loading the tree if you need it. Specifically, we have a butt head cat, so we always go here and get a blue spruce. He leaves it alone because it is VERY prickly. Instead, he sits nearby and stares at it until New Years. Haha to you cat!

They had a nice but smaller variety of colors and sizes. Besides flowers, they also have a great succulent selection, vegetable plants, and more. They sell already made flower pots that are really pretty and inspiring if you're planning to make your own creation. Everything is well spaced and they have great wagons for you to use while you shop. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They do sell some garden decor, pots, and potting soil as well. Easy and enjoyable experience. It's so fun looking at all of their beautiful flowers and plants. Note, dogs are not allowed.

This is such a cute place for the entire family. My son especially loved all the cats and they followed him around the entire property. You cannot pick your own apples, but they do have pick your own tomatoes and some other produce. The apples come in a variety of pre-bagged sizes (1/4 peck, 1/2peck and full peck) which I appreciate so we can try several different kinds. So far everything we have had from them has been delicious (caramel apples, caramel sauce, apples, tomatoes, apple cider, apple cider donuts). This visit was exactly what our family and children needed! They have an awesome set-up.... You can order online and pick up or stop in and visit in person. All their staff are wearing mask and practicing safe business for all their customers. Hand sanitizer was available everywhere to use as you needed. We went inside their gift shop to browse through all the goodies. We wound up with some fresh honey, carmel for dipping, an apple slicer, fresh apple cider, bags of different styles of apples, apple sauce and best of all (my favorite) the apple cider doughnuts! The shop has a little bit of everything. We really like the Empire apples and the Snow Whites! The apples are all labeled with information and great descriptions of flavors. Also information on which ones that are better for baking and cooking with. They have them ready to purchase in whatever size bag you want from small to large! Very reasonably priced... When you are done shopping and getting your family all the goodies they can handle. Make sure you take some time to walk out back to take advantage of some of their outdoor adventures. You can walk around, take some family photos, pet their goats, see the chickens and so much more. Our daughters love to pet and visit the animals. If you have never visited this apple orchard before, we highly recommend while in this area with so much to do and see make sure you go pay them a visit. You will not be dissapointed!
