Do Not Trust Miller's Driving Academy--They Set Students Up to Fail and Refuse Accountability Miller's Driving Academy in Palm Desert has been the worst experience we could have imagined. They charge premium rates and provide incompetent instruction that cost my daughter her chance to pass her DMV test. We paid $420 for three lessons, thinking my daughter would be well-prepared. Instead, their instructor gave her blatantly incorrect information about one of the key parts of her DMV test--a right turn from Kenner Ave onto Jackson, where there's a narrow bike lane before the main traffic lane. The instructor told her to pull into the bike lane first before merging into the main lane and had her practice this move 9 to 10 times during her lessons. My daughter even questioned this instruction, but the instructor insisted this was the correct and legal way to pass the test. Well, it wasn't. My daughter failed her DMV test because the bike lane isn't even a legal driving lane! Miller's instructor trained her to fail, and when we brought this to their attention, they refused to take any responsibility. The owner wouldn't even call us back--we could only speak with his admin, who offered no solution other than a discounted additional lesson. This dismissive and condescending response was a slap in the face after we already spent hundreds of dollars on training that sabotaged my daughter's test. Their refusal to admit fault or make things right shows they don't care about their students or their success. What makes this even worse is the emotional toll on my daughter. She's 16 years old and worked incredibly hard to prepare for this test, only to have her excitement turn to devastation because of bad advice from a driving school. Now we're stuck waiting two more weeks to retake the test, paying the DMV again, and trying to rebuild her confidence after this completely avoidable failure. This is more than just bad service--it's negligence. Miller's Driving Academy provides incorrect instruction, refuses to take responsibility, and shows no regard for the students they claim to serve. They're unprofessional, unapologetic, and untrustworthy. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Miller's Driving Academy will waste your time, money, and your child's hard work. read more

We have used Millers for both of my sons to get their license. Although the communication for our appointments and the rules changing wasn't always clear and having to pay in cash only seems odd. I can't say enough how kind, patient and what an excellent instructor Mike is. He completely made my son feel at ease and confident in his driving abilities. Terrible School--They Taught My Daughter to Fail Miller's Driving Academy completely let my daughter down. She took three lessons, costing $140 each, to prepare for her DMV test. The instructor taught her to pull into the narrow bike lane when making a right turn from Kenner Ave onto Jackson, even making her practice it 9 to 10 times. He insisted this was correct, even after she questioned him. When she questioned this, he even went as far as to explain to her that once you get into Indio, the lanes just get narrower, as his explanation for her questioning of the narrow looking lane. In fact their first time practicing this route she instinctively turned into the CORRECT lane and he immediately "corrected" her and told her if she did not first turn into the narrower, bike lane, she would get points deducted. When she followed his instructions during her DMV test, she failed because driving in the bike lane is illegal. This wasn't a small mistake--it was repeated, incorrect training that led directly to her failure. The owner refuses to take responsibility and won't even speak with us. We were left dealing with an admin who brushed it off and only offered a discounted lesson. After spending $420, this response is unacceptable. The instructor clearly now knows he gave bad instruction which one would obviously not own up to. What's worse is how much this hurt my daughter. She worked so hard to pass her test, only to fail because of bad advice. Now we have to wait two weeks, pay another fee, and rebuild her confidence. Do not trust Miller's. They teach incorrect methods, refuse to own their mistakes, and show no concern for their students' success. read more

Although I still would recommend Miller's, we had a lot of issues with communication and even the driver running over an hour late with no communication what so ever. A lot of texts confirming the wrong days and times. I don't know what happened towards the end there but they need to get it together. read more

Millers Driving Academy repeatedly instructed my granddaughter incorrect turning and lane merging instructions by having her turn into a bike lane. When my granddaughter questioned this repeatedly, the instructor verified this egregious information as correct which caused her to fail her DMV driving exam. This left my granddaughter devasted and a major blow to her confidence. To add insult to injury, the owner of this business will not answer to calls or take ownership for this error. Do yourself a favor and look around for another driving school and avoid a devasting blow to your child's confidence, not to mention $140 per lesson that they refuse to refund. read more

My African American son had a lesson in March. A number of inappropriate things happened during this lesson. However, the most concerning issue that occurred is that the instructor called my son the "N Word" twice during his instructional drive. The instructor also told him how to look at his phone so that no one could tell. My son was also instructed to drive on the freeway. This was his first driving lesson and first time behind the wheel. I called this morning to inquire about driving lessons for my teen. Kim was very courteous and then she asked me what city I lived in. I told her Indio and the conversation continued. I asked how far out she was scheduling students and she stated she was scheduling out a couple of weeks. She said, "you guys must have all gotten your government checks at the same time because everyone wants to be scheduled at the same time" the conversation continued and I thanked her and told her I will call back with more information regarding my teens' permit, but honestly that comment didn't sit well with me. I needed to find a driving school in the Palm Springs area to finish the driving portion of my CA drivers licence. I took a chance on the internet, found Miller's Driving School and what a wise choice that was. Kim in the office is great. Kim organised everything right from the start, set up times, appointment with the DMV etc, took all the stress away. Greg's the Bossman, a really nice guy, knows his stuff. Greg picked me up each day from my hotel and dropped me back, so no need to go finding their office, they come to you. Greg takes you around the suggested driving route and shows you all the potential obstacles.
