A friend and I enjoyed a delicious down home style lunch today. This old Timey grocery store is reminiscent of grandma's kitchen. My salmon cakes were delicious as well as all of my sides. My friend enjoyed her country fried steak also. The service was excellent. It's definitely worth the drive and be sure to check out the cute little craft and gift store across the street. They recently expanded and added a bunch of new vendors. Currently, they have an outdoor area with pumpkins and mums too. Take a drive out in the country and enjoy. It's not very far off the highway.

Adorable. Takes you back in time. A materialized Whistle Stop Cafe. The servers were beaming with southern charm. Compliments to the chef because everything was marvelous. Had to savor every bite. The squash casserole was the shining star. I would commit unspeakable acts to learn that recipe. If you find yourself anywhere near Christiana Tennessee stop by Miller's Grocery Cafe. Without a doubt the most satisfying southern cooked meal I've had in years.

Quaint restaurant with great country cooking and live music

Delightful and quaint country style cooking in the heart of old town Christiana. Although dining on a Friday evening, there was no problem getting a table. The server was friendly, a country motif, and live music. We will visit again!

Food was very good. Like home cooking. Desserts were very good too. The place is full most of the time.

In historic Christiana, everything is good! I love the squash casserole and the catfish is also exceptional.

Date of Visit: July 2, 2026…read more On this afternoon my wife wanted to take me on a country drive after an overwhelming day in Murfreesboro the day before. Murfreesboro used be an easy navigable town, not no more, so many people. So off we went. Heading out towards Chapel Hill we came up the Fried Tater Cafe. After yesterday (if your following) I needed something authentic to the area and this looked the part. We both agreed to stop. Walked inside and I knew right away this going to be great. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere. Nice. Found a booth against the wall and were given menus and drink orders taken. Drinks came while still viewing the menu. I almost wanted a burger but chose the patty melt with coleslaw. I was going to have fries but they have those Checkers type fries. My wife had the BLT with Tots and after having a couple of her tots I should of had the tots. My wife even agrees, these are the best tots she has ever had and she has tots when ever offered. These had the crispy outside that you can bite into without crushing and fluffy innerds mmmmm. But getting back to my patty melt. The menu said it came with thousand island dressing. I would usually hold the TI, but now I'm in a phase where I order with no substitutions. So I took it with the Thousand island. And so glad I did, it did something to it. Don't know if everyone does this but wow. And the slaw was good too, though I wish I had gotten the tots, next time tots. The wife and I will be back here next time in town for sure, if just for the drive. Peace.

A beautiful day for a drive so I picked The Fried Tater Café for a visit. Housed in the old…read moreVersailles/Rockvale Store (built in 1884) and had been empty for the past 40 years, they did a great job renovating. Sat down and Megan brought me a menu while sharing some of the "must haves" here. I ordered the Philly Sirloin steak sandwich (this is not a Philly cheesesteak for all you purists out there) and the Tater Tornado as an appetizer. The Tater Tornado gives you the best of both worlds...potato chips and french fries and they are really good. I sprinkled a little salt on em, dipped in ranch dressing, they are addicting!!! This steak sandwich is solid! The steak had some nice grill char, great flavor, and is very tender. The veggies caramelized while the smoked gouda cheese is a really nice touch. Even the "side" of cole slaw was very good, fresh, and crunchy. While I was eating Megan brought some fried pies to a table and they smelled incredible. So I ordered a blueberry one to go and suffered in my SUV the whole way home smelling it. These pies alone are worth the drive out here...absolutely delicious! Without a doubt the best homemade blueberry fried pie I've ever enjoyed. Really great food, nice serene country setting, and friendly service. Well worth the drive out to Rockvale!!!

They were on special so the bestie and I had 3 each and we were cruisin'! We shared some wings, fried pickles and fries; all the stuff I haven't had in months! Now lemme tell you, I'm a Cali native and we don't have any specials like that so I was thoroughly impressed. Fast forward to my last day there the bestie said, "where do you wanna go for breakfast before you get on the plane?" You guessed it, right back to Southern Still. This time I got everything I wanted! Grits, eggs, toast, salmon croquettes and fried bologna. OH! EM! GEE!!! When I tell you I ate everything on my plate! I almost licked it! I had them blackberry drinks again too. Here's what I truly enjoyed - 4 football games playing and I could see all the TVs from my seat. Second - the service. The waitresses were amazing bringing that southern hospitality that I crave. I can't WAIT to go back because I know where I'm going......right to Southern Still. Save me a seat!!!

We got fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, and chicken tenders. The fried pickles were very tasty. The chicken tenders were very good (caution when you bite-in mine were piping hot). The fried green tomatoes on the flipside were meh and definitely not my favorite. The wings can be ordered naked or breaded. They have numerous sauces to be dipped in. I ordered them breaded & dipped in honey hot. The wings were nice and crispy and were absolutely delicious. Service was fast and friendly. The ambience was nice and quiet especially for a bar/restaurant. I will definitely return.

Date of Visit: July 1, 2026…read more After driving all day the previous day we were wanting a real good county breakfast. My wife told me she had just the place in mind and I've been there before too (City Cafe). But when we arrived we saw they were permanently closed, dang. I could taste it. Then the wife recommended Puckett's and they are just around the the corner, a short walk. As we walked up on the place I noticed the marque, retro. The inside was bit as well. We were quickly seated and drink orders taken. This was a weekday morning visit so not too busy. Looking over the menu, I may not have looked close enough, I decided on the "Build your own Omelette". Onions, tomatoes and pepper jack cheese. The wife ordered the B&G. I noticed I wasn't asked about my side? I wounded potatoes. Also rye bread with my omelette, hmmm. Our food arrived, all looked good. I saw my order came with what looked like frozen type of potatoes, perfect squares. I was expecting something home cooked, fried potatoes with burnt edges. Flavor. The wife's B&G looked great, two basques and potatoes as well. The omelette was good, plenty of everything and filled. The wife said here B&G was really good and she's a B&G expert. Over all, all was good just disappointed with the potatoes option and no rye toast. Perhaps they could consider fresh cut potatoes along with the frozen type. Also maybe offer some type of toast. Give the place try if your on the square. Peace.

I got the BBQ pork platter and it was delicious, definitely the highlight of the night. The atmosphere was great too. They had live music going, which added a lot to the country vibe and made it a fun place to hang out. Service was okay, nothing bad, but I did have to ask for a refill once or twice. Overall, a good experience and I'd go back!
