Well Dana & Steven where on our way to an appointment in Nashville needed somewhere to eat quickly. We stopped at Millers Grocery in Christana. Fast food would have been better. At $25.00 per person buffet that was barley warm and very small. The owner really needs to go to The Dinner Table $12.99 per person in Shelbyville, Marvin's Family Restaurant $12.99 per person in Fayetteville for way less money and always fresh and hot. All the above plus price. The place is not like it used to be. We went for Easter dinner, but we were all disappointed. The rib eye was tasty. But there was no knives to cut it. The fried nuggets were fried so hard you could not tell what you took on this. The desserts? What happened to make a better effort than cookies. All for $22 a plate. A friend and I enjoyed a delicious down home style lunch today. This old Timey grocery store is reminiscent of grandma's kitchen. My salmon cakes were delicious as well as all of my sides. My friend enjoyed her country fried steak also. The service was excellent. It's definitely worth the drive and be sure to check out the cute little craft and gift store across the street. They recently expanded and added a bunch of new vendors. Currently, they have an outdoor area with pumpkins and mums too. Take a drive out in the country and enjoy. We went on a Friday night and there were only 3 tables of guests. The server took our order and came back asking what we ordered again. We waited about 30 minutes and the food came out cold. The service and food were both bad that we will definitely not go back again. The girl singing that night was good, we gave her a $20 tip since her jar was empty. Close to me and I've eaten there often and once was on my favorite list. Still cute and pleasant but the quality of food has gone downhill. We have been coming to Miller's for many, many years. Sadly, our recent visit was very disappointing. We were stunned to see a very empty restaurant when in years past, it was packed. I couldn't quite pinpoint why it had gone down so much other than the food was served in styrofoam cups on a plastic plate. Not sure if the pandemic hurt them or not. I was greatly dissatisfied with this establishment. The food was fair to good. The service was good . The entry lacked a stable walk way and in the windows sadly it was less then clean. Dust and cob webs present. I knew the previous owners and took someone with high expectations of it being great. My last review was met with less then appropriate answer and was told my opinion was wrong?? And I perhaps should find a " cheaper buffet" to meet my needs. Demeaning at the least! Adorable. Takes you back in time. A materialized Whistle Stop Cafe. The servers were beaming with southern charm. Compliments to the chef because everything was marvelous. Had to savor every bite. So disappointed with Millers Grocery the last two times we went. It must be under new ownership/management. I hate to see it lose what was worked so hard to accomplish over the last few decades. The high standard of quality food and service are no longer what Millers is known for being. I'm so hope that this can be turned around soon before it is too late. This has been a goto place for me and my wife for Sunday dinner for years. We often take weekend guest here. Never been disappointed.

this was the first time eating here in the years since they changed ownership. I will say, the food was good and service was very good but the price of the Sunday buffet is completely outrageous. $25 per person, even our 2 year old granddaughter plus a 3.5% upcharge on your bill for "rising food cost". I would think for the price of that buffe, that cost was more than covered. The food was good, not exceptional. We will stick to Bell Buckle Diner and reasonable prices for a decent meal. read more

This may sound like an exaggeration but this might be one of the best places I've ever eaten at. Don't judge the place when u first walk to the door. It is unbelievable how amazing the food is. It is a buffet style and then rotate different dishes so it seems to be a good variety each time. They put out food that only grandma could make. The food is authentic and fresh. My favorite was a the cucumber salad and the mac&cheese. It is an old fashion place and gets pretty packed. Make sure your hungry before u go because you are going to want to try everything and the dessert after is ridiculous. read more

If there ever was a hometown local spot, this is it. Miller's Grocery used to be a grocery store, but now it's a locally owned country restaurant. The food is very good, but I would say most people visit for the homemade desserts. We ordered the catfish, chicken/dressing, and salmon patties. All were very good. The catfish was crispy and fresh. The salmon was fried just right, but some in our party thought it was a little strong. However, most thought it was good. The chicken/dressing was good as well, but nothing special. Although hot and tasty, it was the least favorite of all the meals we got. The sides were all equally good. The fries were crispy, and the pinto beans and fried okra were delicious. Unfortunately, they were sold out of sweet potato casserole. Maybe that's another reason to go back again soon! The dessert list is too big to mention. Pies, cakes, and cobblers are just a few of the choices. We chose coconut cake this time. It was divine, and the meringue really set it off. We can't wait to return and try more menu items. That was a bit awkward feeling everyone just staring while waiting for a table. But besides that. Waitress came to our table attentive and very nice and sweet. I wanted to order a good ole southern food from the menu. Got the country fried steak that was over breaded and dry on the inside. Mac and Cheese was very rich and mash potatoes was okay. My friend had the beef steaks and her tasted a lot more like what I should have ordered instead. Washed it all down with sweet tea cause that is what the south likes around here. Really sad about this place. I grew up around here and have been going to Miller's for over 20 years. For the longest time, most of the staff was the same and the owner was so kind and always recognized us. The food was out of this world and probably one of my favorite restaurants of all time. What happened?! This wasn't my first trip to Miller's, but it was likely my last. What's confusing is that pre-covid, this review would've been all about how amazing this little place is, but now...yikes! I think I read it was under new ownership, which would explain a lot. We dig little older spots like this where you get hit by the smell of old wood and food when you open the door. It's like going to Sunday dinner at granny's, but when there's a family reunion. For that, places like this always have my heart. The service was fine except for the part where the waitress cashed out out while we were still in the latter middle of dinner. It's not you, it's....the food! The order break-down: We got the fired green tomatoes. I got the beef tips with gravy, mashed potatoes, and broccoli casserole. He got hamburger steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, and greens. Little got the kids chicken tender w/ mac n' cheese. I'd do a good, bad, good sandwich: The mashed potatoes were great. They taste homemade and we liked them. That is all. The steak "tips" were so dry and it was more like cubed meat that had set in a crock pot about 2 hours too long and no cubes were left, just shredded meat. The broccoli casserole was an under seasoned paste-like scoop of things someone had dumped the ingredients in a food processor for a good few minutes then folded in a piece or two of cooked broccoli. The hamburger steak was a thick serving of super dry over-cooked ground beef that was curling up on the edges. The gravy to all of that? Brown salt gravy. Mine neither tasted like it remotely resembled a burgundy and his had huge under-cooked chunks of onion in addition to his liquid salt. I've had soy sauce that tasted less salty. The greens? Go to the Walmart, grab an unseasoned can of turnip greens, slap 'em in the 'ol nuker for 2 minutes and viola...JUST like Miller's. Any greens loving human being can already taste the bland "white-ladiness" about this. The little's chicken was like a tenderloin and sadly, also over cooked. $75 after the forced 10$ for our young and inexperienced waitress we saw 3 times. The fried green tomatoes were phenomenal! The fun part: If the man who was walking around talking to the people behind us was the owner (he talked like it), his ego was quite the display and morbidly entertaining. Thanks for letting them know your wife makes "everything from scratch every morning..." but honey, them greens and that food told on you. We could almost taste the cans they came from. If you dig old spots like this...try Gregory's Beechgrove off Exit 97 on 24. Same great vibe, great people, amazing food! Fantastic restaurant. This is my second visit. Both times the food has been overall excellent. First visit I had boneless pork chops, pintos and mashed potatoes. This visit the chicken fried chicken with fries and slaw. We also the beef tips with gravy. Food is flavorful and plentiful. Nice rustic atmosphere reminds me of the days back when. Ok it's good, but expensive for a meat and three for the volume of food. The food was hot and obviously cooked fresh which is a big plus, but our meal for two with a coke and tea was $30.00. No fountain drinks, cans so you pay per drink but tea is unlimited refills. Not sure about all of the sides but my okra and corn nuggets were store bought not homemade, not a biggy they were still good but just a heads up. My catfish was excellent and the chicken tenders were also great. The two desserts the snickers cake and pineapple jubilee were homemade, although the snickers cake wasn't as good as the pineapple cake. Both really rich. The staff was great they made sure our table was clean and our drinks were full. I can't say I would drive here for the food but if I was driving by and hungry is pick here over any thing else close by. My understanding is they have live entertainment on certain nights and this would be great place to enjoy a meal and entertainment. read more

Don't know what happened to Miller's, maybe some Yankees have bought the place and ruined it? Not much on Southern charm anymore, I know it's an old grocery store and all but its borderline just plain nasty now. The service appears to be an all teenage staff and the food was nothing to brag about and there is nothing wrong with that, but at least let your prices reflect such. 4 bucks for fruit tea that tasted like dirty dish water can be bested by a gallon of Milo's from Kroger. My burger wasn't bad but 12 dollars can buy much better else where. A little advice: update your prices online to match your actual prices so there is no surprises after one sits down. I haven't been here in six months or better and was really glad to see Miller's so slow on what is usually a very busy hour, now I know why. People work hard for their money and eating out has now become a treat for many, so a mediocre meal and service isn't going to cut it in this economy. Think I'll stick with the Cafe just down the street. read more

Miller's Grocery is a little out of the way, so historically, eating there has been a treat. On March 25, we found ourselves not too far and dropped in for dinner. Service was OK. A little slow but our server was young and perhaps new. He was friendly enough and worked hard. The live music was enjoyable. The food, surprisingly, was very much a mixed bag. They brought out one wrong entrée was wrong and by the time the correct entrée was brought out, the entire rest of the table was finished eating. A salad was one of the last things brought out. Chicken tenders seemed overcooked. For my own meal, the meatloaf was fine but the sides were cold. Others at my table complained of cold or lukewarm sides. I'm hoping it was just an off night, but the restaurant was not terribly busy when we were there, so I'm not certain why the issues existed. With six people, our ticket approached $140, which is an awful lot of money for a so-so dinner. read more

This is one of those home town gems! Millers is a quiet little spot right outside of town. They play live music on the weekends and are only open for lunch during the week and brunch on Sunday! Today I had one of my favorites Fried Pork Chops with Mac & Cheese and Okra. It was great as always. My Mother-in-law has today's special which was an Open Face Prime Rib sandwich (8.95 with two sides!) Always recommend the Fruit Tea and Snickers Cake. Miller's Grocery. An excellent slice of Southern Pie. Head down to Miller's, it is quite a stretch from Nashville, but worth the drive if you have reason to head that far South. Great Southern cooking, homestyle, good portions, excellent offerings. Add in a little bluegrass or finger-pickin' with a band/duo/trio from the front of the store while eating, and it makes for a special treat for your enjoyment. Highly recommended! read more
