I have nothing good to say about this vet.  Dr. Mimnagh is a cruel man…read more We came to this practice from a referral.  After a biopsy was done, they found out that our 3 year old cat had very aggressive cancer.  After chemotherapy treatments were not improving her condition, we decided to keep her home and let her have her last few months with us in peace instead of weekly vet visits. The biopsy and chemo treatments were done by another vet at this practice and we were grateful to have them.   The day we decided to euthanize our cat, we showed up at 4:50 for our 5PM appointment.  We waited until 5:45 to be seen.  Pure agony when you know that something horrible is about to happen.  I also had my two kids with me since this was our family cat.  We were all heartbroken to lose her.  When Dr Mimnaugh came into the room - he was pushy and rushed.  He kept calling her "kitty" instead of her name.  He asked why we were here and had us go through her medical history WHEN HE SHOULD HAVE READ HIS OWN RECORDS.  While he prepped our cat, his assistant pushed us aside so we could not be near her and the assistant continued to ask us about how we were paying and asking us for our card to pay.  She did not wait or give any empathy as to the moment at hand.  Either way, the payment could have been taken at any point of the 45 minutes we were kept waiting past our appt time. The worst part - Dr. Mimnaugh did not sedate our cat.  They scruffed her, held her down and injected her with one shot.  Our cat spent her last moments screaming in pain.  SHE SUFFERED. And all of this was done in front of my kids while Dr. Mimnaugh joked that the "men of the house take these things much harder than the wife or kids".  I don't understand how this man still has a business when this is how he treats animals at their end of life.  Our pet suffered until her heart stopped and it was at the hands of Dr. Mimnaugh.

That same cat turned into butter with Dr. Starvetsky. Jekyll needed to have her blood pressure checked. That's a tough one because it usually takes multiple people to hold Jekyll down and then we get a high reading because the cat is so stressed out. When Dr. Starvetsky took Jekyll's blood pressure, she stayed calm and got a lower (more accurate) reading. We have multiple pets who are older and have some chronic health issues. I feel very confident with Dr. Starvetsky as our veterinarian. Everyone that I have met so far at this clinic has been super helpful.

When I had a problem with my cat peeing blood, a year or two ago, first I couldn't get anyone to answer my call; second nobody would return my call from the Emergency line. I stay because I love Dr. Sarsfield. I don't usually have a problem, but it took me 7 days to get my cat to be seen when she was peeing blood! Needless to say, I was angry. I have been a loyal client and expect the same loyalty when my pet is in dire need. They are very kind. Lately it seems they are have staffing problems for the front desk. And I will continue to go there. I've always been happy with them, but had a really bad experience that has stuck with me.

Vet explained everything that she felt upon examination (very lumpy kidneys/end-stage renal failure that my cat hid very very well), and explained what had likely been going on as my sweet cat declined rapidly over 48 hours. This was a complete opposite experience of Rossmoyne emergency, who either never palpated her kidneys, or, they did but this is a way they found to make money: omit details the pet owner will never ask about. They wanted to run $1k of tests acting as though they had no way of figuring out what was going on without them. They still got $500, which was the cost of my stupidity and trust. I encountered different staff at Shores both times I've been there, both times consistently compassionate, didn't appear out to make money which would result in prolonging a pet's pain and suffering. The whole process of ending my cat's suffering, including placing her on a fluffy blanket next to me during the process, the little memento with her pawprints, the way her ashes were given back in a cedar urn which was in a decorative bag...all handled very well. They do a great job vetting employees.

Following these tests, the clinic stated they "couldn't rule anything out" and recommended invasive exploratory surgery. ​Based on our medical records, the diagnostic evaluation omitted a standard Canine Parvovirus test (such as a CPV ELISA or Fecal PCR). The test was entirely absent from both the reported lab results and the written list of differential diagnoses, despite our dog presenting with severe hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. ​In our opinion, omitting a basic, rapid fecal test was a critical gap in protocol. While the clinic pointed to elevated white blood cell counts, secondary sepsis and inflammation in severe viral enteritis can also elevate cell counts, making a dedicated viral test essential. We believe that wasting critical time without ruling out Parvovirus deprived our dog of prompt, targeted care and contributed to a tragic, potentially preventable loss.

The doctor and staff are completely committed to helping me keep my cats healthy as long as it takes to find the best solution. I never have to worry that they'll back out or give up if a solution isn't reached immediately, which has been a problem for me at other places. It was very easy to get an appointment, the receptionists are really super! They have a very good office schedule and get me in quickly every time, and if there is an emergency, the doctor is notified immediately. Not only did I find a parking spot right away, but I knew my car was safe because the parking is close to the entrance. It is not at all unusual for the Doctor to call me herself. I have been going there for quite a while and feel that I have finally found the best veterinarian and staff for my three fur-kids!

When i intially found her shop and made an appointment, I was Impressed that she insisted the owner be present during the first grooming. I was able to see her interact with my crazy 90lb doodle with ease... not an simple feat. The second grooming she asks that you dont stay so she can determine which senario is better for the dog. Then she lets you know. I've been a client for over 3 years and I know that even if we move from this area, I'll be making the trip to Poochies once a month.
