My issue is the price. Every year you go back and the price is higher and higher and higher. They just pull a number out of thin air every year for the cost of tax prep. After it hit almost $100 last year, I'm out because I'm sure this year would be well over $100 and I'm just a single filing easy to handle guy. I also really don't care for how long it takes for the taxes to be filed after you sit and watch them be filled out. It takes weeks for someone to sit and just scan them into the government.

I told her I would add it up myself to save her time and me money. Then she changed her mind and told me I needed a single document from my employer stating my overtime, which my employer could not provide. They told me to just add up the overtime myself. I told Jenny this. She then flat out told me that she will not claim my overtime unless I gave her a single document from my employer stating my overtime, and my pay stubs were not acceptable. She then told me I will not get a deduction from my overtime. Using FreetaxUSA all I had to do was insert a dollar amount for my overtime. I was able to deduct another $200 thanks to FreetaxUSA accepting my overtime claim. I paid $0 for Federal and $15.99 for state on FreetaxUSA. Jenny would've charged me $300. Overall I came out $500 ahead compared to having Jenny use her "expertise" by letting the computer do the work for her. I ended up owing the federal government over $10,000, and all we got from the lady at the front desk was a "Sorry, you didn't withhold enough, here's the payment voucher to pay your bill." I also have a locums position as a 1099 employee, and their estimate for my quarterly tax withholding was way off the mark, due to their poor communication. It was extremely stressful to try to figure out my estimated taxes on my own 3 days prior to them being due - as a person who is not a CPA....this is what I paid them to do!
