I had a small PB&J smoothie bowl, Golden Butter Curry Bowl, and a Chai Latte; my buddy had a smoothie bowl, Buffalo Tofu Wrap, and a fresh pressed apple juice that was a lovely light chartreuse color. He then topped off with a Blueberry Poptart and a coffee. Yummers! We were going to eat on the nice covered patio but the thunderstorm moved in and the rain was lashing in so we ate inside comfortably situated watching the light show outside. This cafe is attached to a health food store. It is not open too late, but it fit my needs well. I ordered a salad based on classic flavors of sundried tomatoes, pesto, and goat cheese, and boy they sure did not skimp on any of those things. The result was robustly flavored and fit my need for an early meal. The location is part of a mixed residential and retail complex that was a bit odd to navigate. They also had a bunch of smoothies and such, and I noted one customer who actually asked for the non-dairy nut milk to be replaced with dairy milk. I found it amusing that we've gotten to a point where someone ordering food has to explain that they're not a vegan. If you are avoiding dairy, however, there's plenty for you here, and I could not expect a small place in a town like this to fill its niche much better. read more

I wanted to like this place so much. First of all, it was in the middle of a residential complex and attached to a health food store so getting to this place was a bit of a struggle. We got the taco salad, jackfruit sliders, poke bowl, spring rolls, and southwest bowl. However, they gave us a different bowl with cheese despite us being vegan and did not tell us that they ran out of bread for the sliders until a massive roll showed up. They messed up 2/5 things that we ordered. For a health food place, I was expecting them to have reusable plates, but everything was single use and they didn't have a compost option. The flavors on the food was okay. We wish they had a little more something for the price and the best thing was the taco salad. The employees were nice, but they didn't give us water or napkins and we had to ask twice. Overall, I want to support them, but can't see myself coming back here. I've been here many times before and I always get the banana split açaí bowl. I was surprised this time that it didn't come with bananas on it since it's in the name... that was disappointing especially since it came with blackberries and I'm not a fan of the seeds so I just didn't eat them. I missed lunch on a recent business trip and was starving as I headed toward Richmond. Knowing there would be few healthy options I was thrilled to find Millie's on Yelp. I ordered an acai bowl from a very helpful clerk. It's granola was gluten free and the fruits were fresh and delicious. The portion size was fair for the price and the bowl was delicious. I doubt I'll ever be in Lynchburg again. But if I am I will totally return to Millie's. There were so many more things on the menu that I wanted to try. read more

The Jackfruit sliders are made with vinagar based BBQ, they come on a soft slider roll with a housemate spread and bread n butter pickles. I also had the veggie rice bowl. I will preface this with the statement that I don't really eat vegetarian or vegan food but when my friends invited me out to this cafe to get some studying done I agreed without knowing the stuff they served here. Despite my adversity to vegetables, even I can recognize when a salad is done well and Millie's blew my expectations out of the water. The spring salad I received was full of flavor and freshness, crunch and crispness. the only thing that was slightly odd was the spirulina dressing. Never in my life did I expect this color nor the texture. Never thought I would have to describe a dressing as "chunky" but here we are. Despite the dressing it was a fantastic salad. I also got the oats with banana, maple syrup, and coconut oatmeal. Everything in that cup was fantastic. Well cooked and I enjoyed how the oats weren't swimming in maple syrup. Just a *touch* of maple syrup was in them. All in all, I wouldn't consider myself a vegetable or salad person by any measure but Millie's is deserving of praise for the quality products they provide at reasonable prices. One of Lynchburg's best breakfast/lunch places! I love coming here for a smoothie or a smoothie bowl (always with coco whip). I've been so impressed with the quality and diversity of choices here. I highly recommend the taco wrap (walnut "meat"!) and veggie Sami (hummus + avocado, LOVE). The only time I was disappointed was with some of their juices, but it's my fault for ordering something called the zinger (they're healthy, but unlike their other offerings, are probably not meant to taste real great). The smoothies, however, are so good! My go-to is heavenly cacao or mint cacao. I'm obsessed. I look forward to trying way more of what they have to offer. The location is right in the beautiful Wyndhurst neighborhood and has a cute outdoor seating area. I understand the fruit I guess has to be frozen, but what caught me off guard was that it had that weird freeze taste. You know when you leave something in the freezer for too long, that's what I tasted. They call it Pitahaya or some other name, but honestly why not just call it dragon fruit. Millie's is my favorite, go-to spot in Lynchburg. They have a wide range of vegan foods, with a great variety of drinks as well. The available bowls are a must try- there are usually around 6 different kinds you can choose from. The avocado on a whole grain bagel is another favorite. If you're a kombucha fan, then this is your spot, as they have a variety of flavors on tap. It is also conveniently connected to Health Nut Nutrition, which provides supplements, vitamins, essential oils, and much more. It also has a mini market section with a lot of healthy alternatives to what you would find at the grocery store. It's any health freaks dream collaboration. I think the biggest complaint with Millie's is the high prices, but I would point out that the food is fresh, and excellent quality, which is something that is worth paying for.
