This restaurant is located in a tiny strip mall that is very close to the Moneta library. The restaurant/bar is cute. The meals are reasonably priced (you can "build" your own meal starting at $10.99 for two items). My plate was barely warm but the manager reheated it. Temperature really improves flavor. The read sauce was delicious. I wouldn't order a quesadilla again but I will try other items on another visited. The burrito was yummy. One of my guests had the chicken fajita. There was only one tiny piece of broccoli in her veggies. She only orders this item and it was the first time it was just passable and not extraordinary. (Her four time winning streak ended) The place is comfy. If you get chilly, pick a table not directly beside the doors. The staff is nice. Even in chilly weather, the place was filling up during "rush hour." I can only imagine how crowded this place gets in the summer. I rate this place a B. There is something for everyone. This is the best mexican restaurant by the lake! It's even better than mexican food I have had in Roanoke so far. The prices are also amazing for the quality and portions. I tried Cilantro while in town visiting Smith Mountain Lake and it was great. As is customary at most Mexican restaurants, they served chips and salsa as a complimentary appetizer. I tried three tacos (one al pastor, one carne asada, and one chicken+chorizo) and they came with a side of cilantro and onions, which are the more traditional toppings for street tacos. They also came with a hot salsa which was excellent. It was definitely spicy and made my nose run, but that's how I like it! All three tacos were good and I would eat them again if I lived nearby. Although I didn't try it, I liked that they make fresh guacamole table-side if you order it. The bartender was also able to make me a virgin mojito and it was enjoyable. The food and service were good. Stopped in for lunch, ordered a Taco Salad with chicken. I requested no fried tortilla, just a regular bowl for the salad. What came was less a salad, more a layer dip. I would've preferred more lettuce, but it tasted good, and the chicken was well- seasoned. Too heavy on the salt, though. I've been here several times since they opened and I've had a great experience each time. I usually sit at the bar. Great Margaritas. The food has always come out quickly and is piping hot such that I had to wait a bit to let it cool. I enjoy the empanadas which many Mexican restaurants don't offer. Though I haven't ordered it, they also offer table-side prepared Guacamole that looks delicious, and I haven't seen a table yet that left any in the bowl. Clean, light and airy, it's refreshing that they don't have the tacky murals that many Mexican restaurants seem to favor. I'll look forward to my next visit. read more

FRESH GUACAMOLE! Best at the lake. Need I say more? I've been back here many times. The chimichangas, Birria tacos, margaritas are all good and the guac, the table made guac! You have to try it. I got the Enchiladas Supremas. They were very delicious and were very filling. I recommend getting these whenever you have the chance. The chicken and pepper enchilada was incredible. Service was incredible. I didn't go on a very crowded day but there was still a few families in the restaurant. Waiter was very nice. I didn't feel rushed. I could enjoy my nice meal. If you are looking for a more authentic Mexican cuisine experience Cilantro Mexican Grill is THE place to go. Very modern clean and relaxing ambiance. My husband and I ordered the Molcajete-Cactus,Ribeye,Chicken,Mexican sausage onions and 2 chili rellenos served in a molcajete(mortar) in a delicious cheese sauce with rice bean and lettuce on the side. We shared this menu item as it was quite a bit of food. Service very friendly and attentive. If you are in the Moneta area (Bedford) side come pay them a visit. The server messed up three orders. The taco salad came with yellow and brown lettuce and was more of a soup consistency than a salad.
