Haven't been there in a while and the prices aren't clearly displayed anywhere online, I was surprised to hear that it was $56 for seven dress shirts. The dry cleaning service that comes to pick it up from your house is $4.25 a dress shirt. The people are nice enough but service isn't so great that it's worth the extra money. I likely won't be coming back to this dry cleaners. The shirts were cleaned and nicely ironed and packaged . No complaints about the actual laundering. read more

4 stars for a solid dry cleaning service. I was looking to get some suits and shirts dry cleaned and wanted to find someone in the northern Arlington area that was quality, well-priced, and fast. I saw that Millie's, located near the intersection of Langston and Glebe, had good reviews and could do next day service, so I gave them a try. I arrived at the location, which has a good deal of parking but is hard to turn into if turning right off Langston, and went inside. An older man engaged me and started to figure out what I want. I am not sure if it was his hearing or a language barrier issue, but it took a solid 10 minutes to explain that I was a new customer, wanted next day dry cleaning, and to take my name and other information. I finally gave him one of my business cards to expedite the process, but we finished up and he told me to come back tomorrow. I came back around 4pm the next day. There were a few people waiting on either dry cleaning or tailor services (which are upstairs and I hear are good). Some of them looked upset. I asked for my clothes with my ticket and the young man whisked away to find my clothes, gave them to the older man, and they checked me out. Approximately $60 for 4 shirts, 4 suits, and some pants was a pretty reasonable next-day deal. Everything was bagged up and in good shape, so I went happily on my way. Overall, Millie's provided me with a good dry cleaning service. There were a few tedious aspects, but overall this is a good spot to get your items dry cleaned. read more

This review is for alterations only. I thought I'd try Millie's for a simple hem of a suit dress. I'm very disappointed with the quality--the stitching is very visible and the hem line is lumpy in places. Hopefully I can have someone else redo it completely, or hem even higher to hide this work. read more

I brought possibly one of the most important items of clothing one could bring to a tailor. My wedding dress. Thousands of dollars worth. The straps were very tight, but luckily the dress had extra material to let out. Upon wearing the dress, one of the ladies begins RAZORING off the strap! Without having discussed a plan forward or without a confirmation about the alteration I wanted because there was clearly a language barrier that resulted in a miscommunication. She simply began cutting the strap of the dress while I was wearing it. For what reason I will never quite understand. What could've been a 30 second fix became one of the most stressful weeks of my life. The worst part was that nobody acknowledged the mistake. Nobody took ownership, nobody apologized to me and I was still expected to pay for the alteration that mended the strap. That could've gone along way to ease my stress and my negative feeling about the experience. I don't mind paying the price, but I write this review as a warning to everyone - if this group could not take care of what is obviously the most important clothing of my life, they will not give a crap about anything you bring in. read more

When I moved to the area I heard good things about the alterations operation at this establishment and the couple of times I had reason to use them, they were OK. Not great, but not bad. I don't believe Millie actually still did any alterations since I started using their services, but perhaps since Covid the staff has changed. It has been a while since I used them. Last week I took a raincoat there to request that the cuffs be tacked down and it be cleaned. When I arrived, the woman in charge did not even bother to look up from her activities to acknowledge me until I said "Hello?" after waiting about 5 minutes. How rude. When she finally did wait on me she wrote up a ticket which I realized when I got home was charging me over $17 for tacking two cuffs, an alteration which could not have taken her more than 10 minutes! That did not include the cleaning. That was another $15, a charge more in line with what I would expect. My husband picked up the coat today a week later, and when I looked at it, she did a crummy job! One sleeve is only tacked on one side. Never again. I'm sure I can find better places, which if they don't charge less, at least, they do a better job and are less rude. Buyer beware! read more

Not bad-- I'll have to come again to give a fair answer. (I'll try and get some regular pants/shirts hemmed eventually to measure out the speed and price. Here are my pros/cons: Pro: - Walked in, she measured and pinned me, walked out. (quick process, and you can tell she was expert) - Great job with the tailoring, can barely tell it was altered. - Dry cleaners right downstairs--even if the tailoring part is closed, they can hold your piece downstairs (thats what happened to me when I picked it up) Con: - Dress was too tight. I could fit it, but it was hard to breathe. had to go on a smoothie cleanse before the wedding to ensure a little more clearance for my breathing passages. - Did not call me like she said she would when it was done. I called back 3 weeks later to find out that it had already been finished. - $120 to get my bridesmaid dress taken in and shortened. Not sure if this is a legit price, but that's how much it cost me! read more

I've been going to Millie's for 8 years and their level of work and service is fantastic. I have done everything from tailoring suit jackets, to hemming pants, to just regular ole dry cleaning my dress shirts and all my experiences have been excellent. Here's the thing -- it's a little on the pricey side. At the end of the day, anyone can dry clean a shirt. Anyone with a sewing machine can tailor your bridesmaid dress or your new suit. And if someone is offering a lower price, are they really going to deliver a better end product? I'm comfortable paying more (we're only talking like, a few dollars more) because I know the service and quality to ensure the clothes that I wear every day look amazing is worth it in the long run. read more

Very Sad ~ Used to be a fan for twenty years ~ No more. Last three years the following ~ 1. Shirts pressed incorrectly. 2.Too Hot iron used when pressing on mixed blend fabrics have ruined clothes by melting the fabric in areas resulting in a "shine" that can not be removed. 3. Sewing upstairs is not so careful and often incomplete when returned. 4. Getting in their parking lot can be tricky ~ many fender benders so be careful. These things can happen , But what is upsetting is that they refuse to acknowledge any fault . Beware if you are referred to resolve your issue with "John" . No return telephone calls and if you arrive or telephone when they say he is there He is either "Too Busy", "Stepped out" ....Despite three weeks of telephone calls , written messages and in person visits ~ No John. I returned a problem item with the original tags including the sales itemized list stapled to it When I returned the sales slip was gone and the shirt tag replaced . They tried to pass it off as if I took it elsewhere. * Then the "Devil may care ~ Not our fault " is spewed out after three weeks of smiles and nods. **** Take your money elsewhere and avoid the grief. **** Dry cleaners hold no recourse and they know it . Many cleaners are in the area . Organic cleaners cost a little more but it is worth it. Moved my cleaning needs elsewhere after using Millie's for over twenty years. No honor at Millie's ~ Not any more ! * It is sad , very sad to see a long time establishment diminish in quality and then act so dishonorably . read more

I'm honestly not one for reviews. I've been going to Millies for years. In the past I have had various alterations such as a peacoat and several pants done here. I recently had two desperately needed alterations that I got to her last minute for a wedding I'm attending in 6 days(I felt pretty bad). They were two suits. One needed to be completely overhauled ( it was an Astor & Black custom suite) and the other needed hemming (a brand new tommy suit). I just called and she said they were ready. UNBELIEVABLE!! I'm in utter shock! Millie's is the best hands down in all of Arlington/DC area. Her work is impeccable and worth every dime- hence why I continue going there knowing there are 3 tailors closer to me. I strongly recommend Millies for both tailoring and dry cleaning. read more

I first found Millie's when I lived in Arlington. Driving there, I always have to do crazy U-turns and deal with the intersection right by, but I cannot stress how much it is worth it. After moving, I tried to find a cleaner that comes close to Millie's. Haven't had any luck. Before finding Millie's, I had horrible dry cleaning service; just to name a few bad experiences: ironed out pleats, flattened wool gabardine blazer, ripped seams... Millie's has the charm of the old man who owns it, who always remembers me with a smile, and he always makes sure I am not being ripped off with high prices. There is expertise and honesty that you will find in this dry cleaner you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere. All of my clothes are well taken care of; fabrics are maintained just as they should, and I appreciate the most an experience I had with my seersucker blazer and a very bad black coffee stain (they took about 90% off, but left a note by what was left to explain that any further attempts would damage my clothing). I am very happy with Millie's. Though I moved to an inconvenience distance, I will still drive the way to make sure my clothes are well taken care of. I've tried other dry cleaners in my new location, and nothing compares. They always treat my clothes as if I brought in nothing but collared button down shirts in need of starch. I went there with four clothes items and it ended up costing me about $31 for a dress, pants and two shirts. The service was great because they got it done right before Thanksgiving. The old man that other reviewers are talking about still works there and is very sweet. I found out that Coach Jones from American University goes there for his dry cleaning. Tailoring services are great, although more expensive than some other places. I've had several pairs of pants hemmed here, all with good results. However, today a friend and I stopped by to have 3 pairs of pants done, and I saw that the tailoring business upstairs is closed all day Wednesdays. And the customer service is great-- someone always walks my clothes out to my car when I pick them up and Mr. Cha offers to bring me vegetables from his garden. The worst! Dropped off three shirts for one day service; stopped by to pick-up, next day. No shirts, no idea where they were. After lot's of scurrying around and furtive telephone calls, employee left the store to go to "Enrico's" ...down the street to retrieve the shirts. All good...just a mis-delivery....right? Wrong. I went in on a Friday to get my homecoming dress tailored. It was fast and efficient to try the dress on and get measurements. It was ready on Wednesday just five days later and the alterations are perfect. Exactly what I wanted and asked for. The people helping me were nice and helpful. Completely outraged. Ive never been treated with such disrespect at a business in my life, let alone a family owned one. Let me start by saying that this place has come well recommended from several people, Yelpers included. My previous dry cleaner, McLean Super Cleaners, were outstanding. 5+ years and they may have broken a button once. I took a group of nice dress shirts in, and when I returned a week later, I noticed 2 of the shirts were damaged. There was a dark shiny discoloration down the right sleeve of each of the shirts. When I pointed this out to the old man who owns the store, he was questioning that he did this to the shirts. I assured that they had, and they took them back to try to get them back. After another trip back, the stains werent out, and he said I would need to talk to his wife, who runs the tailoring shop upstairs. After 3 more times going back, I finally got here and she thought she knew what the problem was. ANother trip, still there. Finally on my 5th trip, I spoke with the son who helps run the shop. He was very professional and courteous, and explained to me there was an issue with the press, and that that was what had caused the damage. He offered to reimbursement for part of the shirt due to the damage. They were able to get the damaged portion out of the other shirt. Here is where it goes downhill. When I go to pick up my shirt and the check (about a month and a half after initially taking it in), the older man tells me he wants to talk to me. He then ignores me and serves 3 other customers who come in after me. After patiently waiting, he proceeds to berate me and tell me that he doesnt like my kind. He accuses me of destroying my own shirt, so I can get money for it. He says that I will take the damaged shirt and do the same thing at another store. This is the proprietor of the business that ruined my shirt, which I cannot replace, and he is insulting my integrity; in light of my being very patient and accommodating through the entire process. His behavior, tone, and actions are completely unacceptable and downright slanderous. Its a shame that such a recalcitrant old man is willing to sully the name of his family business with baseless accusations of ignorance over a Banana Republic dress shirt. read more

My family had been using their cleaning and tailoring services regularly and exclusively for a year. Three weeks ago, I brought in an expensive new jacket for its second cleaning, and it came back with a brown ring around the entire sleeve at the elbow - a stain that had not been there when I brought it in. After telling me twice to come back "next Saturday," after my third trip back they said they couldn't get the stain out, insisted that the stain had been there when I brought it in (although they hadn't made any note of such a stain when I brought it in, which would be customary) and not only refused to compensate me for the piece, but even refused to refund the cost of "cleaning" the jacket. I asked why they don't care about my business, and they said "I don't have an answer for you." read more

I really wanted to like this place. I was excited that maybe finally I can find a place to get my clothes fixed and drycleaned. Wells, I go in there, there's a girl that asks me when I would like my clothes back. I would think that ASAP would be wells... by default. But I'm in no hurry, so whenever. Okay, a week later you can pick up your clothes. Really? A week?! My bill was more than a hundred dollars, about 5 dollars for each piece of clothing. Okay, next stop upstairs for the tailoring. I had this cashmere sweater that I absolutely love but it has a tiny hole in it. I went up there and ask if they could do anything about it. The girl takes it and double stitch machine sows an ORANGE thread through my LIGHT BLUE sweater. So I can definately see the orange through my light blue sweater, and feeling quite angry over the fact that she has made my sweater WORSE. She offers to take it out for me, quite annoyed by the way and starts to take it a bit off, and irons it like the ironing is going to make it look better. It doesn't because the bright orange thread that she's been using to stitch those jeans was used on a light blue sweater. I couldn't believe it. She says no charge, like she's doing me a favor. She would've been doing me a favor by not touching my sweater at all if she was going to be doing that to it. To be fair, this was not the boss lady I think because before this I had asked her about a lace dress and she said her boss was on vacation and wouldn't be back for another two weeks. Anyways I ran out of there as fast as I could. Maybe it was an off day. I don't know and I don't care. All I know is I'm not coming back. read more

I had heard great things about Millie's but my experience was sub par. I took two pair of jeans in to have the hems altered, which from what I understand is a pretty simple job. I am not a perfectionist when it comes to details on clothing but I kept thinking one leg hem was longer than the other. I noticed this every time I wore the jeans. I asked my sister in law to inspect them and she concurred that the hem was uneven. I took the jeans back to Millie's and they measured the hem and sure enough it was uneven. They were willing to fix the issue; however, I won't be taking my clothes here again. Also upon pickup the downstairs dry cleaner was not able to locate my jeans. I spotted them hanging on a rack unlabeled. This was the only experience I had and it didn't work out. I have used another tailor for 10 years without any issues. On another note, this place does seem popular and there is typically a small line of one or two people waiting to be fitted. The location is a bit difficult to find. It's at the intersection of Lee Highway and Glebe road next to the gas station. You will need to make a u-turn. read more

I've been using Millie's for tailoring and dry cleaning services on and off for a few years now. The people who run both the downstairs dry cleaning and the tailoring shop upstairs are very friendly and they do a great job in both departments. I've had lots of clothes altered here and they have always met my expectations. Recently I had a gown for a black tie wedding shortened. The hem was mermaid, and I was concerned about how well it would come out, but they did a wonderful job. It was pricey, which is the only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of five. I probably could have had it altered somewhere else for less but I trust them here. I would highly recommend Millie's for any tailoring although you may be able to find a less expensive dry cleaning service elsewhere. read more

It's no secret. Miliie's is the best cleaners and tailors in the area by far. Mr. Cha and the rest of the family are the most wonderful caring people and they care about your clothes too! The women in the tailoring department do an impeccable job, and if your request is ill-advised the head lady will tell you (in the nicest way possible) exactly why and what your alternatives are. I lost more than 30 pounds a few years ago and all my business clothing had to be altered -- I dropped a lot of coin upstairs at Millie's, and every piece that came back made me look like I had lost 50. The other poster was right -- when Millie's hems your jeans, it looks original -- like the manufacturer did it. Millie's even hemmed my drapes. If there is something they can't do for you, they will point you in the direction of someone who can. read more

Mr. Cha and the kids who work for him are outstanding. This place is a real find - and I've enjoyed bringing him my business. I moved to the area, did a quick Yelp search, and decided to try Millie's. I'm picky about my shirts, and didn't want to take a chance on them getting ruined. The cleaning and pressing itself exceeded my expectations (and another plus, the stuff they use is scent-free so your clothes don't reek like chemicals). More importantly, Mr. Cha is a great person. He'll greet you every time you walk in and loves to treat you well. He'll remember anything you tell him and ask about it next time. I didn't know this place from Adam when I found it but I love coming back. Mr. Cha and his staff really go out of their way to do their best, and I'm happy to keep bringing my business in. Recently got married and brought my wife's stuff for him, and he cut me a little discount. Like others have said, it can be tough to get to the parking lot during rush hour - often I park close by and just walk to the store. Other times I've biked there with my stuff in a backpack. There is not much to add to the reviews that have already been posted, but to say I agree 100%. Sometimes that is all you need. Its a great place, efficient, and being greeted with a smile and hearty hello when I come in is well worth it in this day and age.
