Requested a estimate for a new roof from Mills Roofing and they were pretty timely and responding. Got a phone call within a couple of days, an inspection within a week or so and then spoke with the estimator shortly after that. They were polite and informative but unfortunately were not able to come to terms with my insurance adjuster due to a lack of sufficient information requested by the insurance company. Contacted another company through Yelp and do have an agreement. Just a heads up, their quote was right on target with my insurance company where Mills Roofing was significantly higher. read more

Based on their great reviews, I was excited to get an estimate from Mills Roofing. The bidding process was very thorough, consisting of photos, roofing 101 education on materials and process, an inspection and a detailed proposal. All great to that point! Unfortunately, their bid was a full $15,000-20,000 higher than literally any other bid I received (BEFORE any additional labor charges) which is honestly, complete insanity. The other 5 companies I got bids from were respected, highly reviewed business also -- it's not like I'm comparing Mills to unlicensed, under the table deals. And I'm just a normal residential homeowner, ~1400sqft of roof, not even like a giant industrial complex! For that reason alone Mills was immediately out of the running. I'm sure they do great work based on these reviews, but you'll certainly pay for it. read more

He met with me to review my project, and walked through it with me and thoroughly explained my options. Estephani worked with me to schedule and expedite my project. On the day of repair, Victor, the job captain reached out to review with me by telephone. He discussed the work thoroughly and sent me photos of everything on top of our 3 story high roof. So glad to have worked with Mills Roofing. To put it bluntly the prior roofer who installed my roof did a crap job causing recurring leaks once my new roof was installed. It's very hard for a consumer to know the difference when getting a new roof between a lower cost / quality provider vs. Mills. Now that I see the pictures of the before vs. after the work Mills did, it's a no brainer. Happy to share if anyone needs more context and a reference. We had some wind damage last winter which was quickly and efficiently repaired by Mills Roofing. But they also found some underlying problems with the rest of the roof. I have no idea what estimate they would offer for a re-roof to replace asphalt shingles with a standing seam roof of 2300 sf, 2-story, simple gable roof. Mills Roofing wants $150 just to provide an estimate which they say will be credited if they are awarded the contract. Seems to me that once they have a $150 hook into you that most customers will figure "Might as well go with them, I've already spent that much." You have to ask yourself, "Will the bid be competitive? Is this just a way of squeezing more money from the customer?" read more

Contacted Mills Roofing in April 2017 regarding some snow damage to roof tiles from winter snow. Brad responded to assess the damage and provided estimate. Brad advised due to the workload from snow damage in the area it would be a few months before he could get the job started/completed. I accepted the bid and Mills Roofing arrived in September and completed the job. The best part was he overestimated the job and came in well under the bid quoted. I must say, they could have done what was quoted, however the damage wasn't bad as thought and they did the repair that was required. I've used Mills roofing twice. Once to do a metal roof "tune-up" and the second to fix the roof and structure after a tree fell and hit the roof. They have always done an excellent job in the repairs. What really set Mills apart from other contractor I've used is they understand how important customer service is. Those of you who have dealt with typical contractors know what I mean. First, they call you back in a timely manner-no waiting for days/weeks or never getting a return call. Second, they have been up front about getting to my jobs. When I called for the "tune-up" Brad said they were swamped and it could be 3-4 month or maybe next season which I was fine with because honesty is refreshing. When the tree hit the roof, Brad was out the next day after the storm passed. Brad was able to meet with my insurance adjuster since this a vacation house and 3+ hours away. read more

Brad, I kept my roof shoveled, I have pictures that show your contact commitment to put ice &water shield completely over the plywood build up before the metal was done only one edge of roof, over the front door dormer, the plywood came up almost short 3 inches of meeting at the top, only covered with a layer of ice & water shield that broke down because it created a valet that allowed water to settle and brake down that area allowing water to seep in, screws were found rusted out in that area because of this water collection, around the wood stove pipe, the flashing used to seal was put on top of the metal roof with no seal around the pipe and also on the furnace vent, there were also area where the metal panels did not reach to the edge of the roof over the trim, all of this was seen by the contractor I used to replace your installed roof, a metal roof should last more then the 13 years before it started leaking, I did not allow Ice dams to build up! read more

My home roof and garage roof are adjacent to each other. In a normal winter the snow would create an ice dam between the two and we'd have to watch for falling chunks of the ice - very dangerous. In December I got estimates from several contractors for roof modification or ice-melting devices. All estimates were upwards of $4,500. Then Brad of Mills Roofing came out for an estimate. He spent the time to study the problem and came up with a clever solution that cost only $1,300. His workmen were there the next day and they did an excellent job. Ice dam gone! read more

Mills Roofing cleared snow off our (second) home last winter when it was looking seriously overburdened. Gave a price, did what they said they would. Since we wanted to re-roof, we asked for an estimate for a metal roof. They explained it would probably be Spring of 2018. They contacted us when all the snow was melting in January and said they were trying to schedule some of the roofs if the weather held. We replied that we were quite open on the timing. Mills helped us out during this epic snowy winter of January 2016. We noticed a leak around our wood stove chimney. Mills was able to come out on the first clear day after the storms and both diagnose and fix the problem. 2 weeks later, just spent a few nights at the house and no leak to be seen. We hired Mills Roofing and they did an excellent job on our house in Homewood. We just purchased our house, and the roof started leaking quite badly. Mills Roofing was responsive (thanks, Dawn) while other roofers would not return our calls. It turned out to be a substantial repair with potential for more problems in other areas, so we had Mills Roofing replace the entire SW facing area of the roof, ensuring the underlayment was done properly around the chimney where it was leaking (apparently there wasn't any underlayment around the chimney). The work started right away, and we were impressed with how courteous the workers were and how tidy they kept the area around the house. The entire enterprise from ownership to every one of the workers was extremely professional and competent. There was not an idle hour at any time through the whole job. You do not want any corners cut on a roofing job, and they don't. We had some issues with bad house design (ventilation), which I knew about in advance, and they provided detailed explanation of what the problem was and a range of repair and remedy options to choose from. We were present through the whole job (not very fun, all the banging), but got a good up close view of the way they run the business and do the roofing work. Mills Roofing just completed a new comp roof at our cabin in Lake Tahoe. They called me back promptly, met me at the cabin to go over options and roof samples, provided a bid quickly and gave me a start date. They pulled the permit, had all the materials delivered and protected until they started and even had a porta potty delivered to the job site! Rain delayed the start date by a few days but they were in constant contact giving me updates. Once they started they were faced with daily rain showers and took the upmost care in protecting what they had torn off.
