The culture was very positive with hand shakes, smiles, helpfulness and respect. They're fine with visitors being in colored Gi. Kids class was perfect for my kids, well stocked with white and grey belts and plenty of attentive coaches. Adult class was conveniently right after and I was well looked after both of our visits. Trained with brown, purple, and blue belts (a good mix), both sexes, and never felt unsafe. All-in-all I highly enjoyed our visit and my kids wanted to go back. Highly recommend!!! When my son had a tough first class, crying out of nervousness, not only did Master Schmidt help him through it, the other children in the class were incredibly caring as well. However, during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, the passion Master Schmidt has for teaching became even more clear. He opened up Zoom classes for every student up to 4 days a weeks regardless of what they were paying for before. My son is disappointed whenever I pick him up from school and we are not going to karate that day, it is almost always a highlight for him. Recently, my son was having a bad day and was upset about everything from the clothes he was wearing to the weather, and when we got to karate, he didn't want to participate (the first time this has ever happened) and all of the senseis in the dojo came up to him to check on him, and to help me try to get him to participate. Eventually, Sensei Shanny was able to get him to do a few of the drills, something I'd been trying to do since we got there. The whole team is very patient, firm, and really care about the kids.

Classes are overcrowded, chaotic, and mostly spent punching bags with no real instruction. They don't teach basics like round kicks or sit-ups, yet are quick to judge and punish. Private lessons aren't honored, classes rarely start on time, and sessions constantly bleed over. Instructors lack discipline, respect, and professionalism -- toward both kids and parents. They push cheap plastic "weapons" every month as gimmicks to sell, barely using them in class. Kids spend half the time standing around doing nothing. This place is all about locking you into contracts -- not about teaching martial arts. A total waste of time and money. Stay far away.
