The staff behind the counter is utterly ineffective. We ordered waffle cones with one flavor and we had to repeat ourselves multiple times to the person working behind the counter. I actually had to ask her if she could hear well because we would say one thing and she would be so confused or grab the wrong thing. She also got my husband's order and then stepped back and started looking at her phone. Um, hi... two other people in this party were interested in ice cream too. It was our first time there and we didn't know anything about the sizes so we were a little surprised to get mini scoops put into these giant waffle cones. Just not a great impression because in addition to them being mini scoops, she was making smaller scoops than what other people were making as if it was too difficult for her to get the ice cream out. I had high hopes for this place after Fort Worth Star Telegram heralded that this was the best ice cream anywhere, and so my journey began... The place is really neat, even from the outside looking in. It has all the ambiance an ice cream place should have. Nice and inviting, benches to do on inside and a beautiful patio area outside. The service was fantastic. The gentleman helping me was very nice, offered flavor samples and explained the sizes and did so without making me feel like he does it 100 times a day. With me and with others, he focused like each of us was his only care in the world while he waited on us. The ice cream, I ordered the Cookies & Cream was good. It was also smooth and creamy, and it did not upset my stomach like some ice creams do, indicating to me this was quality ice cream made from quality ingredients. But as for Fort Worth Star Telegram's claim of them being the best? Personally I think that honor goes to another ice cream outlet. I've been to this place a few times now, usually right before closing and seems like it gets pretty busy around that time. The staff is always friendly, even during the rush, which I appreciate. This time, I decided to trust my gut and try a new flavor: Black Raspberry Truffle and wow, it instantly became my new favorite. I'd come back just for that. I also got the just Java, which was solid, and the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, which was okay but not a standout for me. I gave the New York Cheesecake flavor a shot too, and it honestly tasted just like an actual slice of cheesecake, super creamy and smooth like all the other flavors I tried. Love the ice cream but the service is very hit or miss. Came in at 8:48 and greeted with "we close at 9". Not a hello or kind smile and the entrance is mopped. I understand it's Friday and they wanna head out but this is a quick stop, not an eat in restaurant, I feel like the mopping could wait till close. Another thing to mention- we got two ice creams. I was so disappointed on our last visit here. The toilet seat was falling off and there was trash on the floor. My daughter ordered a cookies and cream shake, her favorite flavor, as a special treat before school. She has never once not liked ice cream, but she said it was awful.
