It is most definitely a seafood market, though they can prepare fresh seafood for you too to go. Staff was super friendly, prices were very, very good, and there was a fantastic selection. They had everything I could have hoped for, and a ton of stuff I would not have expected. If you need some specialty seafood - think massive tiger shrimp - this is the place to go. We had the pleasure of meeting Maria, who was incredibly welcoming and happy to answer our questions. That's something I always appreciate. Great customer service makes all the difference, and she made us feel right at home. One of the coolest parts of visiting Wando Shrimp Co. is that it's a real working seafood operation. Watching the shrimp come straight off the boats and into the sorting equipment was fascinating. You don't get to see that every day! It's a behind-the-scenes look at the local shrimping industry that makes you appreciate just how much hard work goes into bringing fresh seafood to our tables. They have an excellent selection of local shrimp along with a wide variety of fresh fish and other seafood, and the prices are fantastic--especially compared to many grocery stores. It's hard to beat this combination of quality, freshness, and value. Of course, the setting is just as impressive. Sitting right on Shem Creek with the shrimp boats, marsh views, and surrounding waterfront restaurants, it's one of the most beautiful spots in the Lowcountry. It doesn't look like a fancy store because it's not. This is as close to the water as you can get and the shrimp are just hours old when you buy them. I ordered 1 lb of jumbo shrimp for $10. They bagged them on ice for the drive home. They take credit cards. The staff is very polite and efficient. This is the freshest shrimp I have found. You have to try Cherry Point Seafood if you are in the Charleston area. You will.not be disappointed. I highly recommend them!
