I have asked about specific cavities that I can feel with my tongue. She said a few times, don't worry- we will get to them. Well, I finally went back to a dentist that is 40 miles from me. He was appalled by what has not been done. Also, she cemented a crown and I had to tell her to clean up the adhesive around the crown. Also, she didn't prep the tooth so she glued the crown on top of the previous adhesive which then made the crown even higher and when she adjusted the bite, she put holes inthe crown. She may be nice, but she should start working as a dentist. read more

Dr Patel has been the most kind, pragmatic dentist I've ever know. Her congenial bedside manner puts everyone at ease. She's gentle with her approach to cleaning and never does anything unnecessary. For example, another dentist wanted to do 4 fillings for my 5-year old and Dr Patel looked and said: "he's gonna lose these teeth anyway. Get him to rinse with ACT and put toothpaste on the floss you use so it gets on the soft spot. Do that and it will be fine." Now, the whole family drives 20 minutes to get to her! read more

Best dentist ever! I grew up in a small city far out in the Central Valley and always thought Smile Care or any of those chain organizations were the only place to go to for dentist appointments, and I HATED it. The service is poor, the hygienists/dentists aren't patient oriented, and the wait times are insane. If you have insurance that Dr. Patel's office takes, you don't need to look any further. My experience of having scary times at the dentists office have been over since I started going here about 1.5 years ago. She doesn't unnecessarily drill in to your mouth, has great patient care, and performs hygiene on her own and does a great job at it. What a pleasure it was to visit Dr Patel! She made my appointment about as pleasant as one can visiting a dentist. She very professionally gave me a checkup and repaired a cracked tooth, and spent the time to shape the result to my satisfaction. My roommate broke two of his front teeth in a bike accident on a Friday evening. We live close to Dr. Patel's office, and after phoning around a few other places, we got the best vibe from her receptionist so we made an appointment for Saturday afternoon. My roommate was able to go in and have an evaluation. Dr. Patel came in the next day to finish taking care of his teeth, which needed to be extracted. This was a Sunday, a day when she normally does not work, and my roommate of course really appreciates that she came in on her day off to help him! I am glad to find Minal as my dentist. I went to her for cleaning/exam first and she did a great job. Next time, I went to her for filling. She was able to accomodate me the same day and I am glad that she is flexible about it. One of my tooth had a major cavity and she did not use Anesthesia until is was really required, I think its a good thing. She is very up to date on the subject and always explains before hand to the patients about what she will be doing. She is very caring doctor. Her office space is really neat and equipped with required tools. They are quick and very methodical in handling insurance claims. No complains at all there. I have been to Dr. Patel a couple of times: for regular dental cleaning, and for getting night guard. They are very flexible about times and scheduling appointments (and accessible), and her staff and Dr. Patel are very friendly. Besides providing great and friendly service, Dr. Patel and her assistant are very good about explaining whatever procedure they are doing. Another great thing about Dr. Patel is that she is not in a hurry as soon as she is in the room (as has been my experience some times in the past with other places). She gives you attention and time. I feel like she also gave me a better picture of the health of my teeth. In the past I have been to some dentists, and they have a ready-made answer for me ready: you have to get rid of your wisdom teeth. Dr. Minal, on the other hand, looked at my X-Ray's and dental health, and said that it is one of those few cases that I can get away without getting the wisdom teeth removed and she would keep them if she were me (although the "wisdom of the crowd" suggests otherwise. I am grateful to her for taking a look without bias. Her office is simple. Nothing fancy, but a place that have caring and competent dentist and staff. That is what I care about when I go a dentist! I went to see Dr Minal two years back when she first started her office in Redwood City. I went there 4 times. She did deep cleaning to me. Compare to other dentist what I go to later, for same service, she definitely charged more. Maybe My insurance is out of her network, but she didn't inform me. Also, since she charged ~$400 per section for deep cleaning, and it easily reached annual maximum insurance coverage after clean 4 sections, she didn't even tell me that I need cavity filing and wisdom teeth extraction.I felt pain and went to see two other dentist, they both told me I need cavity filing and also the deep cleaning doesn't seems very well "cleaned" within just 6 months of dr Minal's work. Btw, I brush my teeth everyday twice. Just want to share my experience, pls pay attention to your bills and for the service like teeth extractions which she can't do, she may put it in low priority, then her service can use all of your dental insurance coverage. read more

We had a very enjoyable chat on a wide range of subjects including my medical and dental history to get acquainted. She administered a thorough set of x-ray images with the electronic sensor, then cleaned my teeth with ultrasonic and hand de-scalers. I finally had a chance to go to the dentist after a year and a half hiatus (I'm sure the only reason I got this chance was due to Dr. Patel's flexible schedule - she will actually come into the office on weekends for her patients - most of my previous dentists generally worked Mon-Thurs which made it impossible to set something up with my work schedule). I set an appointment @ 10AM on a Sunday - arrived 15 minutes late but luckily had no wait and went straight into the dental chair. Dr. Patel asked about my dental history, if I had any additional concerns and then went over the plan for the checkup. She did the x-rays with non-painful sensors and thoroughly cleaned my teeth. I was out of there within an hour with my toothbrush/toothpaste/floss goodie bag. My mother had a dental emergency at 4:30pm. I called several doctors who were not available until I got a hold of Minal. She accepted us on a zero notice and performed the treatment flawlessly. Since it was an emergency, I had to take my children with me. She had a special play room for them. They thought, they were on a play date. Dr. Patel is an exceptional physician who has provided me some of the best dental care I have received in the Bay Area. She was extremely flexible with my difficult schedule and took the time to remove my wire before my cleaning. She spent almost 1 hour cleaning my teeth and filing down older filings. I've seen dentists where I received no feedback (come on - I can't be that good) - to the other extreme where I feel the need to reconnect with the tooth fairy in my 30's (what is the going rate for teeth nowadays?). What I liked about Dr. Patel was her honest feedback. She told me the good but also told me things that I can do better (i.e. pointing out where I might be brushing too hard and as a result thinning my enamel). I was in need of a dentist for our family. I was able to find Dr. Patel from ZocDoc. Booked appointment on website and a few days later had appointment for our daughter. You are first greeted in cozy,clean reception area followed by a warm and welcoming smile from her assistant. I completed the insurance forms online through ZocDoc so my wait time was just a few minutes. While waiting I had the pleasure of having a hot cup of coffee(yum). The doctor greeted us and asked questions regarding our dental needs. Dr. Patel cleaned my daughter's teeth and set us up with a dentist that we needed to get my daughter free from her wisdom teeth. Meeting Dr Patel and Vanessa was probaly the best moment of my life. I have not gone to the dentist in a long time (2011) and i was very nervous especially that i had a bad expierence with one and never went back. I decided to go to the dentist to see if i needed braces since that was when my last doctor told me i need. I was using an app called ZocDoc (helps you find ANY doctor thats takes your insurance shows reviews, offices, etc) and of course after 5 years i was nervous like a little kid again haha. I scheduled an appt with Dr Patel and thats when i heard Vanessa. She saw my ZocDoc account and help me schedule an appt. Sadly life takes the best out of us. I told her i won't reshedule until after the funeral. A couple of days have passed and i received a letter from Dr Patel amd Vanessa sending there condolences. I have not met them yet and already they are showing there love and condolences. Both were a bookmark in my book. After everything i made the appointment again and finally met Vanessa and Dr Patel they greeted me nicely and they were very generous! I did my consultation and xrays. Didnt really need braces but after 5 years only had 2 cavities!!!. Today July 21,2016 Dr Patel and Vanessa filled my cavaties. I was nervous and scared. But The Chew was on tv and we started talking about pastries and food and we ended up hungry haha. They were gentle and asking if everything was ok. They even told me if i wanted a break. There concern made me relax. I know this was a long review but Dr Patel and Vanessa are worth word for word. They are very caring and amazing and do a very good job on there work!!!! The wait was not even long. In the waiting room they have coffee and comfy chairs. This was my 3rd visit with Dr patel and wont be my last.
