I've been seeing Nicholas Obertis at Mindful Care for about two years. After losing my insurance, I wasn't able to see him for a while--but I was still taking the medication that he himself originally prescribed me. I just hadn't had an appointment because of the insurance gap, but I had enough medication left from previous fills and continued it consistently. When I finally scheduled an appointment again, they canceled it an hour before, claiming I needed to do a new intake since it had been over four months. It's extremely frustrating because if I had canceled last minute like that, they would've charged me a fee. Apparently, that rule only applies to patients. When I finally did get seen, Nicholas didn't listen. I explained that I had been taking my meds the entire time--the same medication he had originally prescribed. Despite that, he told me I had to basically start the whole process over, and reduced my dosage from 250 mg down to 25 mg. Unsurprisingly, I had a horrible month. My bipolar symptoms came back in full force. When I followed up and told him how badly I was struggling--including having intrusive thoughts--their response was: "Go to the ER." Anyone who has ever dealt with mental health issues knows how unhelpful that is. Sitting in an emergency room for hours when this could've been handled by my provider is not care--it's passing the buck. At my next appointment, the dose was slightly increased, but still nowhere near where it needed to be. I was still suffering. I tried reaching out to the office--which, by the way, is incredibly difficult to navigate--to get Nicholas's email. He had told me to contact him if anything came up. The front desk responded, "We don't give out personal emails." I wasn't asking for his personal email--I was asking for a way to contact my provider. The back and forth with the front desk went nowhere. Then Nicholas called me--but from a spam-labeled number, which obviously I didn't answer. He called again while I was at work and couldn't pick up. I emailed back explaining that, but the communication was already falling apart. I tried canceling my next appointment and--no surprise--it wasn't actually canceled. I had to email them five separate times before someone finally confirmed it was canceled. Eventually, a supervisor called me after seeing the string of emails. We had a 45-minute conversation where she told me she would follow up with Nicholas and get back to me later that day or the next. She never called me back. This is not how you treat patients, especially those dealing with serious mental health struggles. If you're looking for real mental health care, this is not the place. I've now been forced to start the exhausting and stressful process of finding a new provider in the middle of a mental health crisis that they made worse by not listening and not doing their jobs. Nicholas didn't listen. The front desk didn't listen. The supervisor didn't follow through. And the entire point of mental health care is to be heard. Instead, I'm spiraling--snapping at my kids over things like spilled milk, sobbing uncontrollably mid-workout, and feeling totally out of control of my emotions. I came here for care. I left worse than when I arrived. Long story short: I would never, ever recommend this place unless your mom works there--and even then, good luck. read more

I have more anxiety dealing with the absolute ineptitude of contacting that office, then the anxiety that I have which caused me to contact them. 4 times called in one day that no one is available to answer a phone call. The actual office that I visited looked like an absolute ghost town with little furnishings that would make it look like a reputable environment for help. Case management = mismanagement. The worst problem I had with Mindful Care was their repeated taking money from my credit card without even sending a bill. This happened 3 times, even 6 months after I had left them. Keep in mind that they supposedly help people with mental health issues! I went to them for depression and anxiety and I have to say they caused way more anxiety than they helped cure! This issue became worse after they were bought by another organization in 2023. They used to repeatedly send emails and texts for me to confirm, which was annoying. But the latest issue was basically stealing. I had to call my bank and have them deny any charges from them. I repeatedly asked them to delete my credit card, but they never did. My care provider, a nurse practitioner was courteous, but just not knowledgeable at all about deprescribing. I had to give her instruction from YouTube videos that I had watched. It was incredible, that I had to tell her how to do her job. The absolute worst for helping with mental health. I would say they should be called "Mindless Care" and not Mindful Care!!! read more

From the beginning Mindful Care has been a SOURCE OF STRESS. For someone who has never had therapy or mental health help in the past, this was a scary and stressful time. The therapists and staff at Mindful care not only added to the stress, they were a cause of it! The therapist was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. He came late to our 20 minute "Micro-sessions". He canceled appointments at the last minute. He never followed up on 'homework' he assigned me. And the final straw was when he ended our last session after 6 minutes! NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. The customer service was infuriating. They did not listen to me. They scheduled appointments on days that I could not attend and sent me over 40 emails with appointments for dates that I did not ask for. This was a NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE that almost made me give up on getting any help at all. read more

I've been with mindful urgent care for nearly 4 years and it has been the greatest experience of my life. I've never had a problem getting in touch with staff, getting medication, rescheduling, etc. I see Nicholas Obertis and he's the most attentive, patient physician I have ever met. He's also the most thorough physician I have ever met. I've gone to psychiatrists and have been diagnosed with a checklist, which have in turn led to the wrong diagnosis and wrong medication regimens. My first time seeing Nick, I felt seen and heard and received the correct diagnosis. Nick took the time to listen, understand and he worked through the process of finding me the perfect medication combination. He is a wonderful listener and has made a HUGE difference with my mental health issues. I saw a nurse practitioner virtually for medication management through Mindful Care for a little over a year. Overall I was happy with my experience. I liked the NP & it was usually easy to reschedule when I needed to. I even recommended the practice to a few people. My opinion recently changed. As usual, I was sent multiple reminders for my last appointment, but when I went to log in I realized I hadn't received a meeting link. My appointment was in the early evening and I was not able to get in contact anyone. I was concerned mostly because they remind you of their strict $100 no-show policy and I did not want to be charged. It wasn't until the next morning that I was told the NP left the practice. This came across as very unorganized and unprofessional. They offered to schedule an appointment with someone else, but I decided to go elsewhere. read more

woof. came here because i was desperate, and desperate you must be to put up with the lack of quality in everything from scheduling to professionalism. my psychiatrist was one of the rudest individuals i've had the displeasure of working with (using that term loosely) throughout my mental health journey (and that is saying a lot!!!!!). dr. pollard is condescending, rude, impatient, not at all empathetic and understanding, and generally seems to care... not at all. at one point she even asked me what took me so long to get on the "right" medication. i don't know, maybe because that's YOUR job? to help me find the right medication? if it was easy no one would need a psychiatrist in the first place. please if you can go somewhere else do it. only came here because i needed something affordable and was at the end of my rope searching for something long term. back to the drawing board i guess! literally cannot handle her attitude anymore and i only see the woman once every 3 months lol. everything i said in our VIRTUAL sessions (which i hate, i specifically requested in person visits but whatever) went in through one ear and out the other! hated every second of this place read more

I've been going to Mindful Urgent Care for 5 years and it literally saved my life. It can take weeks to get in to see a psychiatrist but Mindful can get you in within 1-2 days when you ask! I see Nicholas Obertis and he is great! Very attentive, extremely helpful, super calming, and relatable. And ive seen many psychiatrists through out my life and ive also worked alot lol so i know working for almost everyone can suck and we all just want to get through that work day, which makes most doctors ive seen in general just quickly get through appoitments and sometimes they even forget who i am the next apt. Which in this line of work thats what we truly really need as a patient. I received an anonymous call from someone at Mindful Care. I didn't pick up, but they left me a message saying they were confirming my appt that I had with them 3 days in the future. They also texted me, telling me I had an appointment with them, and emailed me as well, urging me to send them my insurance info (a pic of the front and back of my insurance card) I never made an appointment with Mindful Care ever, so I looked up the number to Mindful Care and called them back, curious about how they received my # as well as my email address. A woman picked up the phone and said that Dr.------ had referred me there. I assumed she was talking about my recent hospitalization, but the discharge papers hadn't mentioned a referral to Mindful Care and the referring providor she mentioned was not the name of my doctor at the hospital nor any doctor I'd ever seen before. I asked the person on the phone about this and she said, "oh that happens all the time! The doctors forget to write down their referrals in the discharge papers many many times, you wouldn't believe". She sounded like someone who thought she was speaking to a sucker, so I said sure ok and hung up. i had a meeting with my doctor prior to discharge and I knew exactly where he'd referred me to because he told me and he had made sure to put the information for the referred provider in my discharge papers. Also, I had already followed up with the referred provider in their office where they have a legitimate medical practice In total, I received 8 text messages and emails from Mindful Care, urgently requesting that I send them pics of the front and back of my insurance card. In addition, a slew of phone calls and voicemails. I did a search for Dr. ----- , who is the doctor they said had referred me to them and the only provider by that exact name in my entire state is a pediatrician at Westchester Medical Center, an individual I have never had contact with plus I'm 38 years old, so I definitely would not have been referred by this doctor. I honestly think the person I spoke with just made up a name of a doctor in the hopes that I wouldn't question her. I wouldn't go near this shady company with a 10-foot pole! I shouldn't have even responded to their spam calls and messages. It's scary to think how they got my information and are targeting people this way, lying about the referring providor and urging ppl to give them their information before even speaking with somebody, knowing that there are people out there who are desperate for care or just naive. read more

This practice is absolutely awful. My actual provider is wonderful but everything else is completely unorganized. They have not sent links to get to my appointments and immediately charged my card on file $100 for "no-showing" but had absolutely no urgency to reach out to me to reschedule my appointment. And when I told them the times I was available they kept sending me dates to reschedule and later would tell me that date is actually not available, yes, they did this several times, four days later and four back and forth exchanges of that I'm still waiting to actually reschedule my appointment but no one fucking answers my emails or phone calls. I have decided to switch my care else where but I am having extreme difficulty with that since they have NOT sent over my medical records to my other doctors office after THREE WEEKS and confirming they have received MULTIPLE FAXES, and again absolutely no sense of urgency to send over my records even though it is absolutely necessary for my new doctor to have for my medication I NEED. I am currently still waiting for them to be sent and I have contacted them everyday by email this week about the status of them being transferred and NO RESPONSE! I gave up trying to contact them over the phone because NO ONE ANSWERS! HORRIBLE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH ONLY YOUR MONEY!!! read more

This place functions like a scam. To be clear, they aren't (at least not that I'm aware of). If you choose to see a provider in person they try to get you to do virtual. If you still don't do virtual, their manhattan office is insanely run. The waiting room isn't even in the office, it's part of a work-space company and you're surrounded by people having public work meetings. And when you get there they sometimes don't come to get you when they're informed. I've sat in the waiting area (the shared office space surrounded by other people who are literally having business meetings) for nearly 20 minutes waiting. And waiting. Mindful Care says they'll put you in touch with a therapist. Nope, just 20 minute online sessions that are useless. They say they have more options but never give any. My provider there hasn't responded to my request for a refill in over a week. I'm being told she will, but she still hasn't, so I went to my GP. He referred me to someone else, out of concern that Mindful Care wasn't doing what they say they do- provide care. They don't even have the privacy sound barriers for their office. If you're talking to a provider, the whole hallway hears you. The realization of that was extremely alarming. Probably why they stick patients in a public office building to wait- so you don't realize the whole hallway can hear the patients. This is a problem with the company as a whole, including their providers. I don't trust these people with my medical information, I don't trust that they care about their patients. Stay away from Mindful Care. They can't follow through on their business model and it comes across as obviously disengaged from the realities of people receiving mental health care. read more

To preface, you will never be able to contact the billing department (let alone a human) if you do not know the number and extension, which is nearly impossible to get a hold of so here is the number and extension: 516-505-7200 ext:953 Awful, fraudulent billing practices. To start off, I have been attempting to contact the billing department for four months now, only to be able to get in contact with someone today. While being fully insured, I was being seen by mindful care from mid-august 2022 to early October 2022. Along with being charged for missed appointments that I did not miss, and missed appointments that did NOT exist, for each unauthorized credit card charge, I was never sent a single email. I have been billed over a thousand dollars since January without any notification, authorization, or a single appointment (As I had cut off services last year in October). Each and every one of these charges were fraudulent, as I had already paid off all deductibles long ago. Now- the billing department, as hard as it was to get to was ABSOLUTELY horrible. After being lied to, talked over, yelled at, and hung up on, instead of sending an itemized bill as requested, he had sent a spread sheet of (some) of the things that they charged me for, which did not reflect any other charges we had seen. Being a someone who actually works with billing and insurance, after patronizing me over things that were flat out wrong about how insurance and billing actually works, he then hung up on me. These guys are frauds. Do not consider these people for your mental health treatment. Not only are they going to attempt to rob you blind, the services they provide and their mental health professionals are also incompetent at their job. P.S: even through you well only be seen virtually, don't worry, you will also be charged for an office visit on TOP of medical services, doubling the cost of each and every appointment for no good reason at all. If you have dealt with any of these problems, request an itemized bill until you get one. They will refuse to do so but they will have to eventually. Do not let them lie to you. I'm not sure what this place is, but mental health care ain't it. I've been bounced to 3 different providers in the 4 months I've been attending the telehealth there, and each of them has the same dead eyes, flat voice, and blank face. Are they all actually robots?? It's ABUNDANTLY clear that these people do not care about you. My last appointment was 4 minutes long. 4. The NP asked if I felt that my meds were helping and I said "no"...she replied "ok, I'll send in your refills then" and ended the call. She didn't even send in the correct amount of pills for one of the scripts. The billing department has been overcharging me and won't admit it. My insurance has confirmed that the provider is overcharging me. Mindful maintains that they are not. I've decided to no longer take psych meds after this place, it's just not worth the hassle. read more

I initially contacted Mindful Care for an ADHD Assessment, because this practice came up when I Googled for ADHD Assessment. So instead of an initial appointment for that, I was offered micro-therapy which are 20 mins sessions that I feel are ineffective and grouptherapy. I liked my micro-therapist. I just wish the session was longer. I also did try group therapy, which wasn't my cup of tea. The group leader would basically just throw out cliché phrases/quotes to "help" the participants. Big issues: 1) had to reach out a few times to discontinue group therapy appts. because I kept getting notifications for them...I didn't want to be charged the huge $100 no show fee. Also, my "ADHD Assessment" when it did finally happen didn't get me anywhere, because the therapist couldn't diagnose me so she had the support team send me links to neuro psych practices. The first link was for geriatric patients, 2nd link didn't work, and the 3rd link was more than an hour away from my house. So I'm back to square one. The straw the broke it all was when they sent me a notification (the 1st and only one. I checked and billing confirmed no prior notification) saying I owe them $210 in co-payments! I told them that was bad business. Paid it and canceled future services. What a waste of time smh. read more
